Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I paid XXXX directly and by law, they must recall the account from Convergent. Therefore, Convergent has no legal reason to be reporting on my credit reports and must delete.

Consumer Complaint: I relocated to XXXX, Illinois on XX/XX/XXXX. At that time, my cellular service provider was XXXX. XXXX was my exclusive cellular provider since the XXXX. Up to this point, I was happy with the service. After moving to XXXX, I was unable to use my cell phone in my apartment. I could not hold conversations with people ( they could not hear me for any length of time ) or the calls dropped completely. Frustrated, I reported this issue to XXXX. After complaining repeatedly for months, XXXX finally agreed to send me a cellular service extender kit as a remedy. The remedy, however, did not solve the problem. The extender did not work consistently, at I would have to end a call, try to connect to the extender and then try the call again, with varied success. I reported this to XXXX as well. XXXX had no other solutions to offer. They indicated that there were limited cell towers in my area. This was surprising to me, as I live in downtown XXXX. This went on for months, and out of frustration, I called XXXX to cancel my service. After 10 years as a customer, they offered me nothing. In XX/XX/XXXX, after months of trying to resolve this issue with XXXX, I transferred my number to XXXX XXXX XXXX, which I understood had better service reliability in the XXXX area. In my opinion this was a constructive termination, because XXXX was unable to provide me reliable service. I, in effect, had to cancel. They still charged me a {$300.00} early termination fee, which I believe is unconscionable and bad business practice. I have pleaded my case to them without success, and they referred my account for collection, which is now held by XXXX XXXX in Washington state. I do not feel I owe this balance, and have requested, without success that it be removed from my credit report. Interestingly enough, I spoke with a XXXX representative one day, while at an XXXX office. He was attempting to get me to switch and I explained my dilemman to him. He indicated that he could probably get the collection account removed if I signed up with him. I did not want to incur another early termination fee with XXXX XXXX XXXX so, I ultimately decided not to do so, in spite of the potential savings on my cellular bill. I would rather have reliable service at a premium than a cheaper plan with unreliable service. Please help.

Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Received an alert on my credit report from XXXX, XXXX and XXXX that XXXX accounts had been posted to all 3 credit bureaus. Contacted XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX advised them that it was result of " identy theft '' and account was opened fraudulently and without my authorization. This is my 2nd if not 3rd time reporting this to XXXX. Convergent advised me to contact XXXX ( again ) I did and spoke to XXXX who reported XXXX accounts in the amounts of {$110.00} opened XX/XX/XXXX and closed XX/XX/XXXX and also account for {$720.00} opened in XXXX and closed in XXXX. I think the phone number belonging to one of the accounts was XXXX. XXXX couldnt give me much information on one bc apparently the person who opened the account put a password on them so they couldnt tell me much, but they did report them. Confirmation number given by XXXX at XXXX is # XXXX. Please remove these accounts from all 3 credit reporting agencies. I will be attaching a notarized " Identy Theft Affadavit '' form and also a police report. PLEASE REMOVE THESE ACCOUNTS and send me a copy of the updated reports showing they were removed.

Consumer Complaint: AXX/XX/2018I noticed a bill from XXXX in the mail. I didn't have a XXXX account so I ignored it. XX/XX/2018 I recieve a notice from Convergent outsourcing saying I was in collections for a debt of XXXX. At this point I contacted XXXX directly. They asked me information and they verified that there was an account created in my name. The number was a DC based phone number and they noticed that a phone had not been purchased under this account. I asked the XXXX personnel whether an account could be created via online contact only. It was stated in order to establish an account with charges you would have to be at an XXXX XXXXocation. At this point I was asked for the password to the account which i didn't have. I was told not to worry about collections and that this account issue would be investigated. Soon after this I noticed that I had other accounts issued in my name. At this point I set up a credit monitoring service and issued a fraud alert and locked my credit so that I could not be further compromised. XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by a debt collector I can only assume is related to Convergent and stated to the the person on the phone that I had issued a fraud alert and that my identity had been stolen. I also stated that I had filed a police report related to these events. The individual on the phone ignored my statement and tried to say that I was still responsible for the debt.

Consumer Complaint: YOUR COMPLAINT XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX WA XXXX, collection agency. They are claiming I did not pay for valid services received and are attempting a fraudulent collection by using the credit reporting agencies as an illegal collection vehicle. The original communication was dated XX/XX/XXXX claimed they were collecting a debt for XXXX XXXX and had an amount owed as {$60.00}, they are now attempting to collect {$1600.00}. XXXX XXXX sent me a letter in XX/XX/XXXX and on XX/XX/XXXX claiming I now owed {$260.00}. I replied in writing disputing their claim. Their reply was a copy of a original XXXX billing dated XX/XX/XXXX, that showed a {$60.00} balance due. They have never replied to my specific written communication to them disputing their claim and asking for further verification, XXXX said they withdrew the claim on XX/XX/XXXX yet XXXX XXXX is continuing to attempt to use the Credit Reporting system as collection technique. No specific response to my denial of the debt was forthcoming and as of this date I have not received any further communication from the XXXX XXXX. My only source of current information is seeing their name on my credit report. The above is a Scheme praying on consumers.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX XXXX reported and deleted a collection for {$310.00} held by XXXX XXXX which was for XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I returned the equipment which settled the closed XXXX account. I had to jump through many " dispute hoops '' to get it deleted in XX/XX/XXXX but it finally was deleted. In may of 2018, XXXX XXXX reported the same account from XXXX which had been settled and closed. Now I am jumping through hoops again to prove that I ( 1. DO NOT HAVE A CONTRACT with XXXX XXXX and owe them NOTHING 2. HAVE SETTLED account with XXXX ).
