Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by a third party collection agency that violated the FDCPA section 809 A and B. I asked for verification of debt during my validation period and was informed it was just mailed to be on XX/XX/2020. I requested this at the beginning of XXXX. I got another got today from an agent that continued to collect during my validation period. I do not appreciate being ask if I need a friend or family member to help me pay the debt. I have rights to request this information and the company was late sending it out to me. I am requesting the CFPB review this call and the collection practices of the agency. As I told the gentleman on the phone. Once I get my paper work I will call you, but this company failed to send out the documentation within 30 days of my request. This account is also being disputed as I believe the balance is wholly inaccurate. Please send proof this is my debt. This debt may be XXXX, but I promise I will spend more money protecting my rights and preventing any agency from violating these rights. If that means filing a civil suit against the third party collection agency and their client.. I will do so. Damages are awarded for FDCPA violations. ( b ) Disputed debts If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection ( a ) of this section that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector. Collection activities and communications that do not otherwise violate this subchapter may continue during the 30-day period referred to in subsection ( a ) unless the consumer has notified the debt collector in writing that the debt, or any portion of the debt, is disputed or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor. Any collection activities and communication during the 30-day period may not overshadow or be inconsistent with the disclosure of the consumers right to dispute the debt or request the name and address of the original creditor.

Consumer Complaint: Convergent Outsourcing was collecting for a cell phone bill, and their collection agent told me that if I paid them, they would delete it from my credit report, all I had to do was dispute it through the credit bureaus after I paid them. So I paid Convergent Outsourcing, and I now have disputed it multiple times through the credit bureaus but Convergent Outsourcing refuses to delete it as their collection agent promised.
