Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft

Consumer Complaint: I recently viewed my credit and noticed a collection agency, ( Convergent Outsourcing, Inc. ) from XXXX for {$1500.00}. I contacted XXXX and they have no information on me after I requested documents/contract that was signed. I do not recall this account, as I was going to make a police report I was told by the officer that I need to show them proof of validation on what is being reported under my social but Convergent Outsourcing and XXXX seem to now have anything, according to the agency the account was opened on XX/XX/2016. I was a victim of identity theft a few years ago and was reported to IRS as someone was trying to claim me as a dependent.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report this week and I found multiple inaccuracies on my credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus from a collection company that I never have dealt with before. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I have disputed this item with the credit reporting agency and they reported you confirmed the account as valid. I honestly do not believe to ever have any relationship with this collection agency or original creditor. Also there are several inaccuracies with this account the way it's reporting and that's a total violation of FCRA and FDCPA laws and regulations. In a good faith effort to resolve the matter amicably, I must demand proof of this debt, specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature, as well as proof of your authority in this matter. Absent such proof, you must correct any erroneous reports of this past debt as mine. I am writing to request that you please provide the following information : 1. Please evidence your authorization under 15 USC 1692 ( e ) and 15 USC 1692 ( f ) in this alleged matter. 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 3. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 4. Please evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state. 5. Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. 6. Please provide a complete account history, including any charges added for collection activity. You have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to provide strict proof of contract. In the event you can not provide strict proof of contract, you must cease and desist any and all collection efforts and immediately remove any derogatory information reported to the consumer reporting agencies. In addition, you will need to provide me your agreement, in writing, that you are closing your file, ceasing collecting activity, and deleting all information related to this reference number from any and all credit reports youve furnished the information to. In the event you transfer this account to an attorney without providing proof of contract, and proving your claim, he/she will be immediate reported to the XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX for code of ethics violations.

Consumer Complaint: Convergent has reported a collection account to my consumer credit file in the amount of {$460.00}. I do not owe this alleged debt. Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: This is an ongoing and continued fraud being carries out by XXXX, XXXX and Convergence. For seven year I have been reporting this fraudulent claim and for seven years they have been taking it off and XXXX has been putting it back on my credit report with a different collection agency. For seven years they provided no documentation and suddenly now have found fraudulent document, which does not even relate to their false claim ( see attached file ). My last request for this false claim to be removed from my XXXX credit resulted in a report from XXXX on XX/XX/2020 stating that they were no longer reporting the false claim. To this date they are still reporting this false claim and continue to carry out an attempt to extort money out of me. This is the same scam that the parking debtors were using to scam money out of people by making false claims of money owned in an effort to get people to pay rather then fight the false accusation.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days

Consumer Complaint: I sent 4 dispute letters Over the course of over 200 days asking to send proof of verification that this debt was valid and I never received a proper response. What I did receive was a bill in response to the letters I sent to the credit bureaus. A bill is not proof of a verifiable debt. It has been over 200 days and still no valid proof of how this debt is Being verified. The Payroll fell to notify me with proof that this is a valid debt that I owe.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was paid

Consumer Complaint: I enlisted in the XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. Prior to that I was living with my parents, and during that time I paid the internet bill because I wanted faster speeds. After I left however, my step father had closed the accounts and switched to a different service. But he did not do something correctly because apparently there was still an unpaid dept. Which is why a year later, I was sent a dept collection from Convergent Outsourcing on XX/XX/XXXX for {$310.00}. I paid it off in full on XX/XX/XXXX. In the 3-4 years that I have had credit I have only ever missed one payment. My credit was in he mid to high 700s prior to this. Yet this one collection has pretty much destroyed my credit and supposedly collections stay on for 7 years whether paid or not. I have emailed them twice requesting to remove it from my credit to no response, and now i'm wondering what options I have to get this taken off and restore my credit.
