Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: Cancel my student loan debt please student loans have ruined my life - Please forgive my student loan debt it is a weight around my neck. I started out at a two year for profit college and only XXXX credits of my XXXX credits transferred to another school. For profit college XXXX XXXX promised jobs after graduation this was not the case. I went on to a four year college since there were no luck with finding a promised job. I was there for several years and still was not close to graduating since my credits did not transfer. I did a modification at {$370.00} a month only to be told that my 9 payment was not to be accepted because they did not take payment from my checking account. I had payment set up with auto draft in my checking account. Loan was sold and new company did not draft it right away. I was told I would have to start all over again. Debt has impacted credit and rates on buying things. Growing up college was always said to be the road to a better life. This road has been nothing but a nightmare and it still haunts me today. Respectfully yours, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I am currently in the process of completing the PSLF program, in order to have my loans forgiven following 120 payments while working in the XXXX XXXX. In XXXX, I joined the XXXX XXXX XXXX. In the Spring of XXXX, while still working full time in the XXXX XXXX, I began taking graduate courses at the University of XXXX. I specifically instructed my loan servicer at the time to continue accepting payments from me despite any documents they receive regarding my going to school, as I was also working full time in public service. Despite my instructions, my servicer placed my loans in deferral from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX. Each month this took place, I resubmitted a request that my loans never be placed in deferment. Yet they continued to disregard my instructions. My loans have since been moved to different servicers over the years and with each, I inquired how to have this error on their part be fixed. My loans are currently with Fedloan Servicing and I have asked them multiple times what can be done and they refuse to fix the error. I was entitled to make qualifying payments during this period and my servicer disregarded my instruction multiple times not to place my loans in deferment. I would like to respectfully request I have the opportunity to make whatever payments are necessary to reflect my public service in the XXXX XXXX XXXX during those four months in XXXX and XXXX.

Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms

Consumer Complaint: I sent in my employment certification form to get update count of eligible payments for my pslf back in XXXX. They sent me a response back in XXXX stating I was missing a signature which I wasn't. So I sent the form back again. I have called multiple times to see when it will be processed. They keep telling me that there is a delay and things are taking much longer. However, it is now XXXX so 6 months later I do not have an updated count. I worked for the federal government so I know the payments count. I would like an accurate count. I also need them to do a manual count of payments because there is some they missed in XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. Also for XX/XX/XXXX I paid a payment XX/XX/XXXX so they aren't counting it.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Hello my name is XXXX XXXX I have been re-paying my student loans since I left college in XXXX. I worked for a nonprofit for eight years for the first three years I was not told about the public service loan forgiveness program and in fact I found out about it in by chance of course none of my previous payments were going to work even though I was working at a nonprofit and making payments so I had to go on a special loan program and started making payments towards the public service loan forgiveness. Then at some point Fed loan consolidated my loans I can not tell you why because there seems to be literally no advantage to myself for that ... But at that point it started by public service loan forgiveness program over again I was never made aware of this I have made several complaints about this up the chain at fedloan. Theres no reason why I who have been making payments on a public service loan forgiveness plan would want to jeopardize that I was never told us it was completely missed managed and once it was done it was unable to be fixed. This happened when I started my new job which was also a government non profit in XXXX. I have asked Fed loan to provide me with a recorded conversation in which I was made aware of the terms of the consolidation and its effect on on my pslf or a that I even agreed to consolidation and nothing was ever provided to me. I was always sent to someone specific to the PSLF program for guidance and they should have been aware and made me aware of this. To make things worse after getting married in XXXX I was now having to provide my husbands income only to find out that I now no longer qualify for the PSLF because I make too much money at that point I had been working at nonprofits for eight years.I was not sure where to go with this information or how to file a complaint if anything can be done but I do believe that my situation is unique that I have been completely missed lead and then its unfair.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I am currently participating in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ) program as I am a public servant. Part of the requirements in order to be eligible for PSLF is submit a employer recertification form every year. I've been doing this for 7 years now, with no issues. However, this year I've had issues with Fedloan Servicing ( my current loan servicer ) accepting my PSLF form. I have submitted this form 4 times now and each time I receive a response that I am missing information of some type despite have the correct information on the form. Every time I talk with customer service they also insist if I resubmit my form again any issue will be corrected. I have resubmitted my form four times now and the issue is still not resolved and the issue continues to change each time despite me not changing any information. I first submitted my PSLF re-cert on XX/XX/2021 and received an email that my signature was invalid. It was an electronic PIV signature that I've previously used in past years without issue. Myself and my supervisor resigned with a digital signature ( drawn digitally ) and resubmitted. On XX/XX/2021 I received a notification that my signature was once again invalid and my employer did not fill out section 4 of the form for non-government employees ( which is incorrect ; section 4 was not needed since I was a federal employee and it was clearly marked that I was and the form instructs you to skip section 4 if you are ). I called Fedloan about the form and they said that the digital signature needed to be a " wet signature '' and that the section 4 error was a mistake and to ignore. The only issue was the digital signature. I asked why the change in not accepting digital signatures as they have accepted them in the past and that we were also in a pandemic so getting a " wet signature '' was near impossible since we are all working remotely. The service agent referred me to their supervisor and they said the same thing that the " rules changed '' and now only " wet signatures '' are accepted. I was fortunate enough to see my supervisor briefly while being XXXX out for work and they were able to sign my form that day so I resubmitted it again on XX/XX/2021 with now a " wet signature ''. No other details were changed on the form. This last time, my supervisor resigned the form and there is the tiniest little ink smudge by their signature date and my form could not be validated because it had been " altered '' ( I've provided form as reference ). I spoke with XXXX from Fedloan Servicing ( Employee ID XXXX ) who said that because of this ink smudge that my supervisor would either 1 ) have to resign the form and initial it or 2 ) call Fedloan to verify. This is incredibly difficult to do as both my supervisor and myself are XXXX on different disaster events where we're 1 ) not working together in the same physical location to get them to resign 2 ) we are busy responding to events where the ability to call in to verify this is a burden and not possible within the timeframe that Fedloan has their call lines operating since they're on XXXX time and we both work XXXX time hours.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for forgiveness through the Public Interest Loan Forgiveness program on XX/XX/2021, after getting credit for payments they had not properly counted. They confirmed I was eligible for forgiveness shortly thereafter, and then it had been total silence. I have called multiple times for more information, especially as more and more people have gotten forgiveness who applied months after me. Each time I get a different, contradictory response about the status of my application, if I get any response at all.
