Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I graduated from XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX in XXXX of XXXX and even though I did not start paying my loans off immediately, I started the process around XXXX. I may have skipped some months due to hardship but XXXX has been 18 years ago. Everyone I tell this story to someone, they say it is unreal. I borrowed a little over {$17000.00} for College and I am still paying my loans off at 8 % interest. Due to the pandemic they have been placed on hold ; however, it was extremely difficult to handle a {$360.00} payment per month even without the pandemic. I have been with FedLoan Servicing now for about six years. I requested information on the payments that have been paid on this loan over the life of the loan by sending a letter to XXXX XXXX but never received a response. When I went to Fedloan Servicing, they did not give me credit for any of the payments I made with XXXX and even when they increased the interest rate, I still do not understand how my balance changed from the day I left College. If I borrowed only {$17000.00} how can that balance change. I understand they added interest but the balance should never have changed. I have no understanding of how these payments have been calculated over the years and how the interest became so high. I am requesting an address where I can receive information on my loan since the day I graduated from college. I want information on every payment I have made because I have paid this loan out and when they are finished with me I will have paid it out at least 3-4 times more than what I borrowed

Consumer Complaint: I have tried ( and failed ) to remove several late payments from a closed, paid-in-full account that had previously been jointly held by myself and a cosigner. After the student loan account was transferred from XXXX XXXX, AES made it extremely difficult to keep track of automatic loan payments during forbearance and we would often not find out that we hadn't made the payment until we were contacted by debt collectors. Since then, the account with AES has been closed and paid in full, and I have not had another late payment on any account in my name. Payment dates : XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX 2016

Consumer Complaint: FedLoan servicing has miscalculated my payments. I only have 55 eligible payments for forgiveness when I should have at least 64, if not 76. I turned in my annual certification for my employment on XX/XX/XXXX and it has not yet been processed. That is over 60 days ago and this is not acceptable. Payments after my grace period are not counted. I should only have 24 additional months not counted due to deferment. This company has failed numerous times to communicate with me on these accounts. When I submitted a request regarding missing payments, I was told that it was because of deferment. I used my deferment periods in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX. My grace period ended in XX/XX/XXXX. Payments from XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX are not being counted. Please investigate this. This is not the first time I've filed a complaint on this servicer.

Consumer Complaint: I have sent more then one complaint and still nothing. I reached out to the advocacy group on AES web site and i got in a short statement to bad. I have letters out to them today. I have a letter to my attorney general in my state. I was reading their response and it said to call XXXX XXXX XXXX. You may also contact them via mail at : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX Well this place has no idea why they still get call about AES to them. So as of today I am going to have to drop my health insurance and house insurance in order to pay the payments which i am behind on. So by doing this i risk a fine and even more. How do they expect me to live? I even have proof this has effected me mentally. this is a joke. i regret going to school

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX, I was undergoing a student loan consolidation ( with Fed Loan ) and entered the income based repayment program. As the paperwork was being processed during XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX, AES reported my student loans were delinquent. However, the process was taking longer than expected. I called AES to dispute before it was reported and I was told there was nothing they could do to quicken the process. I also contacted FED Loan who currently manages my student loan debt now and they could not do anything to quicken the process. So AES reported, delinquent payment for XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I submitted my employment certification form to FedLoan Servicing to see how many payments I have left before I am eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Additionally, there are many months that I didnt not receive a bill from FedLoan where I could have paid but they said those months would not count.

Consumer Complaint: Myfedloan won't accurately process my annual certification for public loan service forgiveness. I have been trying for 6 months and they still won't give me any credit for all of XXXX for the PSLF program, they are not accepting anything from that year as a qualifying payment and they won't explain why I have been working full-time for the same employer ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) since XX/XX/XXXX. Every year I recertify and my payments are added to my total. But when I submitted in XX/XX/XXXX they never processed my application. Then I submitted again in XX/XX/XXXX and they accepted the 6 months in XXXX as qualifying, but forgot to look back at XXXX. So now instead of 61 payments ( out of 120 ) qualifying for PSLF forgiveness I only have 49. I emailed them about it, and they said the XX/XX/XXXX application is in process, but that's false, because I already got multiple emails from them indicating that they processed the application but approved XXXX and not XXXX. I emailed them again, and this time they said I am incorrect to assert that my latest recertification was processed incorrectly because they show the XX/XX/XXXX recertification as pending, but that is also incorrect as I was very clear I am emailing them about my XX/XX/XXXX recertification. For some reason they show my XX/XX/XXXX recertification as processed with all of XXXX denied, but when I email them they either say it's not done or they falsely claim my last recertification request was in XXXX. None of this makes any sense, I've been with the same company for 5 years, they approved all the dates in XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, but for some reason they won't process XXXX and eveerytime I contact them they give me a new excuse. I've sent several emails this week and nothing. I don't trust in calling them because I've learned over the years nothing they say verbally will they ever be accountable for. I just want them to reprocess the PSLF certification I submitted on XX/XX/XXXX ACCURATELY, which means processing the dates for XXXX as well.

Consumer Complaint: I am having an issue with FedLoan Servicing. My account was closed due to loan consolidation back on XX/XX/XXXX. This account is still showing derogatory events on my credit report from XXXX ( my father passed away in XXXX of XXXX and I was still not working ). This negative account is destroying my credit. I reached out to FedLoan servicing back on XX/XX/XXXX to try and resolve this, and I had asked for it to be removed completely from my report as it is causing issues ( noting that I'm currently in good standing with the Dept of Ed/XXXX, and have been for years ). The representative logged my dispute and sent me an email containing a XXXX XXXX Dispute Form, which I promptly filled and returned via mail to FedLoan Servicing, XXXX. XXXX XXXX, XXXX, PA, XXXX. This was sent on XX/XX/XXXX and I have not yet as of today XX/XX/XXXX received any response ( regarding the removal of the incorrect information, or otherwise ). Attached is a copy of my FedLoan Servicing Account Details from MyFICO. There is a {$0.00} balance shown however this account continues to sit on my credit report with a 120+ day delinquency, absolutely ruining my credit score, and it appears there is no resolution in sight as they refuse to even communicate with me. Please help me.
