Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Unable to open an account
Consumer Complaint: I applied for an online Wells Fargo Bank OFFER for a new checking account then they sent me an email that they couldn't verify my identity. They refused to open the account and live up to their offer. Which doesn't make sense since I have been in the credit bureaus since XXXX plus, I have had both satisfactory checking and credit cards accounts with them over the years. I opened all of them on-line before. I used a phone # I had from an old account for XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX new business explained my situation, but she says she couldn't help. Note their OFFER attachment on each page says open online. This TURN DOWN attachment says I could go into their branch, but their nearest branch is over XXXX miles of my home. Note the bank LOCATION attachment verifying this. They in application are not keeping their offer even though I qualify. They are being extremely disingenuous at the absolute best with their offer.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: It was around 2013, I fell into financial hardship ; mainly divorce. I was trying to reconcile with Wells Fargo and in fact got current on my mortgage by applying a {$22000.00} + XXXX dollars towards it and did get a notification of becoming current ; however, within a couple of months, I began to falter on my loan and within weeks after that, began to receive notices of default and foreclosure on my property. I was forced to sell short losing over {$500000.00} invested into this property. I was given a {$5000.00} dollar buyout option with possible more to come after the purchase ; it did not happen. I had lost my {$920000.00} home after having paid into it over {$500000.00} including the down payment of {$220000.00} of my hard earned money. The short selling price was {$460000.00} ; a basement bargain. I felt like a failure. Wells Fargo Bank did not even try to help me stay in my home, they said they had sold my loan to investors and could not do anything about it.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Fee problem
Consumer Complaint: While I was a Wells Fargo customer, they opened another account without my permission after they called an asked me did I want to add the new account and I specifically told the representative NO, I have all my bills structured and the payments come out of this and I dont want to change anything. A few weeks later the account was opened, I called and the representative just overtalked me like a sales person explaining why the account was beneficial etc. Being a single mother who didnt make much, this was stressful to have to take time to try to change all my billing accounts and hard being young and still learning about structuring my finances. This causes multiple overdraft fees. I have the emails to prove it. *maiden name applied at time account was openXXXX XXXX XXXX

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I fear I made a big mistake, when rushing in my signed paperwork that will allow for my Wells Fargo ( WF ) mortgage lender, to, supposedly, " recast '' my loan! And I must now stop the music, to gain a CLEAR understanding of what in heck WF is doing in its " recast agreement '' with me, and if it is something I even should agree to have happen! WF and I have a lon-n-n-ng, rocky relationship, in which my now dead husband and I, pay, pay, pay our mortgage, seemingly to little avail. I've managed to stay current on our mortgage since our bankruptcy and loan modification agreements with WF years ago. So, I wrongly assumed WF was " helping '' me, when I got its XX/XX/XXXX Recast Agreement. The WF legalese was NOT at all written in layperson 's English. But I read online about my HAMP loan offering {$10000.00} loan reductions to folks like me- who manage to make timely mortgage payments after stumbling back onto our feet. And I jumped to thinking WF wanted my signed paper back by XX/XX/XXXX, so WF could run its new numbers for me, after chopping the {$10000.00} from my principle balance. WF said I must send in my signed paper by XX/XX/XXXX, so I can at least get WF to crunch my new, recast numbers. But after I mailed my paper in a mailbox on XX/XX/XXXX, I re-looked at the WM recast agreement packet, and realized, WF " already '' " recast '' my loan, since WF shows an " adjusted monthly payment '' chart - a chart that seems to show " stupid '' me, paying WF {$2400.00} beginning XX/XX/XXXX! Never mind that my loan modification paperwork from XXXX shows amounts lower than this, withOUT any recast deal! I was so upset by this " recast agreement, '' in retrospect, that I contacted XXXXXXXX XXXX troubles company that dug my late husband and I out of foreclosure in XXXX. But that was XXXX! A XXXX lawyer today says I must pay {$1600.00} for XXXX to represent me again, in this new recast matter now! So, I told him, no, thanks, hung up, and now, seek help from you, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFBP )! I will need to use my own noodle, hopefully, get WF to break down whatever WF is proposing, and stop any progression on this recast mess I do NOT understand nor see any reason for proceeding with!
