Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I got a call from the Wells Fargo customer service number while I was busy at work claiming my credit card was being used for fraudulent activity in Georgia. Im in California. I asked why it wasnt posted on my credit card yet and he said it was because they already took care of it for me and blocked the transactions and that it just hadnt updated yet. I just needed to reset my password with them and get a new card sent to me. I had done this before with my bank from previous fraud but forgot what the exact process was to do this. I asked if they could confirm they were Wells Fargo and they said to match the number with the one on my Debit card, it was exact. This was enough confirmation for me because I had never heard of my banks number and ID being able to be faked or that they arent supposed to call you. I did not verbally give them my password, they explicitly said not to state it on the recorded line. I entered it through a XXXX digit number that looked like XXXX XXXX automated system text line because it prompted me to update it there. They then stole my username and password, they got into my online banking and did a cash advance on my credit card, maxing it out, for {$2800.00} then wire transferred {$3100.00} out of my bank account to a brand new recipient named XXXX XXXX. I do not know this person, for all I know they used a fake name. I tried to block the wire transfer but it went through the next day anyway. He said they were working on getting it resolved and a new debit card would be sent. At the time they were so convincing I thought they were a real Wells Fargo representative. I called Wells Fargo back on XX/XX/XXXX and asked what was up with the fraud on my account because I saw no updates on the wire fraud. They said they started a reversal on my wire transfer and put in a claim for fraud but didnt confirm if the person who first called me was actually from Wells Fargo XXXX I then assumed they spoofed their number because nothing the first guy said added up with the second call I made to them as they said nothing was done for my account yet. They said the money went to another Wells Fargo account so I have asked them to investigate this account for fraudulent activity or if they could get the IP address of the person that logged into my online account, but I have not had any success with them clarifying theyre helping me with any of this or have gotten them to give me any information on this individual. I closed my account for the weekend and changed all my login information again. I called my XXXX XXXX, XXXX, as well to see if I could get their real phone number and the technician on the phone was surprised to see that on the network it was still showing the fraud call as the Wells Fargo line.

Issue: Getting a loan
Subissue: Problem with the interest rate
Consumer Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to file a grievance regarding four student loans below mentioned, that I acquired from Wells Fargo Education Financial Services to attend XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX parent company XXXX XXXX , on the basis of predatory private lending practices. I believe that the circumstances under which I obtained these loans and the subsequent repayment terms are unjust and indicative of a lending system that took advantage of vulnerable individuals such as myself in seeking higher education. I believe that my personal case with Wells Fargo Education Financial Services is in alignment with a previous ruling by the CFPB that Wells Fargo Education Financial Services student loan servicing practices increased costs and unfairly penalized student loan borrowers. I believe that my personal case with XXXX XXXX XXXX is in alignment with a previous ruling by the FTC that XXXX XXXX XXXX lured students in with deceptive advertising. XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX then passed students on to Wells Fargo Education Financial Services in a partnership that caused more financial harm to unsuspecting student borrowers. I kindly request that you review my case and consider the resolution options I have proposed below. 1. Loan Number : XXXX ( XXXX ) Disbursement Date : XX/XX/XXXX Loan Amount : {$3500.00} Amount Paid to Wells Fargo Education Financial Services - ( XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ) : {$7800.00} Amount Paid to XXXX XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX Current ) : {$1800.00} Total amount student has paid on {$3500.00} loan : {$9700.00} Current Outstanding Balance : {$1800.00} Amount student is expected to pay on {$3500.00} loan : {$11000.00} 2. Loan Number : XXXX ( XXXX ) Disbursement Date : XX/XX/XXXX Loan Amount : {$15000.00} Amount Paid to Wells Fargo Education Financial Services - ( XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ) : {$18000.00} Amount Paid to XXXX XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX Current ) : {$1800.00} Total amount student has paid on {$15000.00} loan : {$20000.00} Current Outstanding Balance : {$16000.00} Amount student is expected to pay on {$15000.00} loan : {$37000.00} 3. Loan Number : XXXX ( XXXX ) Disbursement Date : XX/XX/XXXX Loan Amount : {$1500.00} Amount Paid to Wells Fargo Education Financial Services - ( XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ) : {$2300.00} Amount Paid to XXXX XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX Current ) : {$740.00} Total amount student has paid on {$1500.00} loan : {$3000.00} Current Outstanding Balance : {$720.00} Amount student is expected to pay on {$1500.00} loan : {$3700.00} 4. Loan Number : XXXX ( XXXX ) Disbursement Date : XX/XX/XXXX Loan Amount : {$10000.00} Amount Paid to Wells Fargo Education Financial Services - ( XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ) : {$15000.00} Amount Paid to XXXX XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX Current ) : {$1700.00} Total amount student has paid on {$10000.00} loan : {$17000.00} Current Outstanding Balance : {$13000.00} Amount student is expected to pay on {$10000.00} loan : {$30000.00} Explanation and Grievance : In XXXX, I entered into an agreement with Wells Fargo Education Financial Services specifically because XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX were not backed by the federal government. I did not know enough to question this at that time. I was not fully aware of the intricacies of the lending process, and I was coerced into obtaining a co-signer for my Wells Fargo Education Financial Services Student Loans to secure loan approval. I believe that this was also a form of egregious manipulation. Any time I called to put my loans into forbearance, Wells Fargo Education Financial Services would deny me the option to drop my cosigner as a penalty for needing to pause my payments. To this day, I have never been able to drop the cosigner from my loans as XXXX XXXX has also adopted this practice. In early XXXX, I was informed that Wells Fargo Education Financial Services was getting out of the student lending business. On XX/XX/XXXX, after re-paying Wells Fargo Education Financial Services a total of {$44000.00}, ( between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX ) on {$30000.00} total disbursements, Wells Fargo Education Financial Services sold my loans to XXXX XXXX for an amount I do not know, making XXXX XXXX the beneficiary of Wells Fargo Education Financial Services predatory lending practices. At the present time, I owe XXXX XXXX {$32000.00} on a {$30000.00} loan. Given that Ive already paid a total of {$50000.00} towards my student loans, the expectation is that as a student borrower, I must pay {$83000.00} on a loan of {$30000.00}. I would have never agreed to these terms had they been appropriately presented to me as a student borrower. This was an intentional act on the part of Wells Fargo Education Financial Services to deceive student borrowers and manipulate us into making financial agreements that benefitted Wells Fargo Education Financial Services and to the detriment of the student borrower. By pushing me into high cost, high risk loans, Wells Fargo Education Financial Services has caused me great financial distress. As a woman of XXXX, this predatory lending practice further perpetuates the existing gender and XXXX wealth gap in a way that is both harmful and systemic. Upon reviewing my loans, I discovered that the interest rate and repayment conditions are significantly burdensome. Since XX/XX/XXXX, I have made consistent monthly payments, diligently fulfilling my obligations as a student borrower. However, it is disheartening to note that despite my payments totaling {$50000.00} on total disbursement amounts of {$30000.00}, my current lender, XXXX XXXX has me on the hook for an additional {$32000.00}. It is evident from the above information that the interest rate and fees associated with my loans are exorbitant, leading to a seemingly endless repayment period. This has impacted me deeply and has left me in a state of financial strain, inhibiting my ability to pursue other life goals such as saving for retirement. Given Wells Fargo Education Financial Services and XXXX XXXX XXXX track record of predatory practices, I strongly believe that these loans were granted under those same predatory practices previously ruled on by the FTC and CFPB. The lending terms and interest rates are disproportionate and exploitative, ( attached student loans paperwork obtained from XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX does not indicate interest rate charged. Paperwork only states when the interest rate cap was reached ), resulting in a cycle of perpetual indebtedness. I request that the CFPB thoroughly review my case, taking into consideration the predatory lending circumstances surrounding my loan agreement and the current financial burden it imposes.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: This is going on in a large scale. I was told by the operator over the phone. You change credit card numbers to avoid recurring charges from something you keep getting charged that you bought once. Well every time The bank gives me a new Credit card number VISA updates the merchant that you do not want the charges from with the new Visa credit card number issued. Because it is a recurring charge VISA updates the merchant. The idea a of getting a new number is to avoid recurring charges of nothing you do not want. VISA SHOULD NOT BE BE GIVING MY NEW ACCOUNT NUMBER PERIOD. Also I got stuck with the bill from the bank. THIS practice is Fraud and VISA needs to stop. The new number was for me to update who I want to pay. VISA has taken the liberty to do that for me. That is Stealing. This is going on in a large scale. Thanks XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: After obtaining a {$300.00} secured credit card with Wells Fargo, I made the decision to close the account approximately eighteen months later. To my surprise, upon contacting Wells Fargo, I discovered that I had been charged interest fees on nonexistent purchases, as well as late fees on those interest charges. Furthermore, despite closing the account, my initial {$300.00} security deposit was not returned by Wells Fargo.

Consumer Complaint: I was called by a wells fargo impersonator on the customer service line XXXX that had claimed that there was fraudulent activity on my debit card. They had impersonated how Wells Fargo handles fraud cases in an extremely convincing manner, stating the exact time and location that the " fraudulent activity '' was occurring, in XXXX florida at a XXXX. The impersonator asked if they can shut down that card and send me a new one, they had sent me a convincing link from XXXX XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX... I thought this was a bit suspicious and called out to the impersonator that I didnt feel comfortable. They had reassured me that they had called from the customer service line, and had read by my information to me ( name, email, mailing address, and even social security number ). I had takenthis as a sign that they were who they said they were and logged in, unknowingly giving the impersonators access to my online banking information. The impersonator then gave me case numbers for the " fraudulent attempts '' at charges on my debit card, and even a mailing tracking number for my new debit card that was to be sent to me.I didnt know it at the time but they had on the phone been able to access a wire transfer of XXXX out of my account, just like that. They then had access to my mother ( co-owner of my account ) and had run the exact same fraud on her, granting them access to send another wire transfer of XXXX out of my account. I just lost my job and was affected by layoffs. Wells fargo is not doing ANYTHING to support me. Please help me, I can not believe this is happening and it feels as though my entire world is about to explode, being down XXXX

Consumer Complaint: No help whatsoever from WELLS FARGO. XX/XX/23 to today XX/XX/23, still waiting for an authoritative individual to call me. Since a XXXX clerk tampered with my account without my authorization, heres the repercussions I am suffering : Cell phone disconnecting. {$400.00} fee for XXXX cancellation due to non payment. ( And not being able to have XXXX ) Not being able to purchase gasoline or food. This is all due to this clerk filing a claim and canceling my card 2 hours after I hung up with him. And told him very very clearly to NOT to touch my account and leave my card alone. He insisted that I purchased a golf membership on MN, and he even repeated himself after I told him I HATE GOLF AND I LIVE IN AZ. I have had trouble with my digital wallet in which an employee couldnt even get it to work. I was told a debit card was being rushed to me, really? When? Why cant someone call me and resolve any of the issues and new ones? Also, transactions coming through the account will encounter late fees, and cant even make any payments, but the problem exists. How do I pay for late fees for multiple transactions, all because of the control your clerk took while collecting a paycheck?!

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: Good evening, the entire month of XXXX, Ive made multiple payments to bills and transactions. I pulled out money from my check to cover the funds but checks were being withheld. Purchase I made and went through were process and money was taken out and put back in. I again took out money from my check to cover my car other transactions in the middle of XXXX and my purchases were made and processed. When I checked back I received overdraft fees, insufficient funds and the funds being taken out again after they were being processed. I made a car payment when I received my full check the week after. And when I made my payments after receiving a notification of a deposit into my bank account of XXXX dollars. They withheld my check and my account was brought down to XXXX dollars the following XXXX days. When contacting Wells Fargo their representative reassured me I was not going to fall under any withdrawals nor do I have to worry about insufficient fund notifications. The days following I went into overdraft fees and insufficient funds once again. When contacting them again they told me that no, the representative had miscalculated. I explained that this couldnt have happened because I also calculated the purchases then she began to tried to explain charges that were brought up in the previous conversation as still being processed I explained to them that no those purchases were already in the previous conversation. She also told me I went negative because of a transaction that was already taken out of my account for XXXX today I got a notification that I had a charge for XXXX and the funds were insufficient, i put in money to cover the overdraft fees that I had occurred but still got this notification. I told them Im being charged double my purchase and 30 % more of my purchases because they are constantly over drafting me on purpose and they explained that this wasnt the case. I also told her that XXXX dollars were transferred from my credit card to my bank account to pay for these overdraft fees but the bank still double charges the purchases today the XXXX was charged for insufficient funds purchase was made XXXX
