Consumer Complaint: I looked at my credit report in XX/XX/2017 and saw a collection from Convergent that was negatively impacting my credit. I was not certain if this account belonged to me. I sent a letter to Convergent on XX/XX/17 asking them to verify if this account did indeed belong to me. Convergent responded shortly after with an attachment from XXXX in which the debt was for. However, the amount in the attachment convergent sent me was less than what convergent is reporting to the credit bureaus that I owe. I believe this to be a violation.

Consumer Complaint: I sent a letter to the XXXX XXXX requesting that they validate NOT verify a debt that they are attempting to collect from me, XX/XX/2017. I specifically asked for a signed agreement and other supporting documentation. They instead provided me with billing statements from a computer screen ; which does NOT prove that I am obligated to pay them anything. The document is dated XX/XX/2017. They have continued to report delinquent information to the credit bureaus that I am asking to be deleted which is poorly reflecting me inappropriately.

Consumer Complaint: Debt collector ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) called and I did not verify debt or any information with them. Customer service rep stated this is your bill not mines. I have disputed a bill through them written and sent through that I had with XXXX and informed them in the letter that I would be paying XXXX directly. They have placed unauthorized charges on my credit report although the debt is owed to XXXX and NOT their agency. This has had a negative affect on my credit report and the call times have interrupted my job and time with family with the constant harassing phone calls for a debt that I do not have through their company.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I was in XXXX and an account was opened in my name while I was away! Someone had opened several different accounts in my name. When I got out, I had everything removed from my credit ( except for a XXXX bill ). I notified XXXX that this was a result of identity theft and eventually it was removed from my credit report, but later sold to an collection company! I disputed it with the credit bureaus and the collection company, and eventually it was removed again! So now the account reappeared again but with XXXX XXXX XXXX. So I filed a FTC report, and sent it to all parties ( XXXX, all 3 credit bureaus, and XXXX XXXX XXXX ). Once again its removed from all credit reports and its blocked from getting added back on, and out of all the companies XXXX XXXX XXXX is the only company that is trying to collect on this debt! I have never lived at the address this bill was established at. I was XXXX with proof. I never gave my permission for any company to run my name, social security number, or date of birth to obtain services. This is harassment

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I was notified by XXXX, a service of XXXX that a new collection account was added to my credit report. After finding the entry, I looked up the company that had placed it, XXXX XXXX XXXX, found their website and filed an inquiry into the account. I received an email response that did not acknowledge the account or address the information I provided them regarding the ID theft and fraudulent account report. I provided them with the FTC ID Theft Report number, Information about the original account fraud notification to all 3 credit reporting agencies, and the fraud notice on my credit reports. This particular ID Theft event was a closed matter. Some entity has sold the account, knowing it was ID theft to another collection agency, which is allowing this to continue. It should be illegal to sell an account that has been attributed to fraud or identity theft to another collection agency. Especially without having to ever notify the consumer. I was never contacted or notified about this debt until it was reported on a credit report. That is when I first learned of the account. I have been a XXXX customer in my home state, 1000 miles from the ID theft location, for years. XXXX never contacted me about this account! This is wrong.

Consumer Complaint: I reached out to Convergent in regards to the debt not belonging to me, I asked them to provide all the identifying markers to support their claim such as, Copy of original contract bearing my signature and a copy of the State or Federal ID that was used when account was opened, instead of providing those documents, they only provided a computer generated bill.
