Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I recently received a new copy of my credit report and I noticed an account was placed with collections in my name that I have disputed as fraudulent or belonging to someone with a similar name. I had no knowledge of this debt yet " XXXX XXXX XXXX ''. has continue to report it to my credit file. I had sent a certified letter to the collection agency and to " XXXX '' ( the original creditor ) asking for " DEBT VALIDATION '' and I never received a response back. I believe this account is fraudulent or belongs to someone else with a similar name. This debt is not mine and I've tried every option I could think of to fix this erroneous reporting of this collection account to my credit file.

Consumer Complaint: I paid this account back on XX/XX/XXXX @ XXXX. I spoke to a XXXX XXXX who recieved my settlement payment in the amount of {$190.00}. He then told me it would take 3 to 7 business days to recieve a settlement in full email. The issue that I am having is that the status was updated in XX/XX/XXXX with XXXX with the new information. XXXX still shows the account as open and it is also being updated every month. The last update was on XX/XX/XXXX. I have sent numerous requests to XXXX and have not recieved any response to my letters regarding this fact. I worked hand in hand with a HUD approved agency to remedy this issue.

Consumer Complaint: I got an alert in my email from XXXX XXXX. I checked my credit report and it showed a collection agency named XXXX XXXX reporting a student loan debt. I sent them a validation letter because I did not recognize it. They mailed me a response on XX/XX/17 saying they are attempting to collect a debt for XXXX XXXX XXXX and they attached verification documents regarding the debt. I looked at the documents and it was a Loan Request/Agreement Form with someone else 's name, address, social security number and school I had never been to before. It also had the co-signers name, address and social security number. That was a breach of their privacy. The other pages were payment history of the student loan from this person but it does not show his banking information. I was so upset because not only did my credit score go down, they sent me someone else 's personal information with all this identity theft going on. I responded with a letter to notify them of the error and to have it removed from my credit report immediately. They have not responded, so I want to file a complaint.

Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I receive a letter from XXXX XXXX about a debt they said I owed. I have no accounting of such a debt being owed to them or the original creditor. So I sent the a Debt Validation letter via Certified mail on XX/XX/2018 and was signed and delivered on XX/XX/2018. To which I never received any response and then today I go onto my credit report on XX/XX/2018 and see that they have been added to my credit files XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. According to the law they can not report a debt that they never sent a validation for. When I received the letter I sent certified mail a validation letter which they ignored. Now by placing this debt on my credit file they are breaking Federal Law. I expect this to be removed immediately seeing as they are violating FCRA and Federal Law. On top of all this then when I submitted a complaint via CFPB they had the audacity to say that I must have been looking at an inquiry on my credit report and that they had NOT reported it to the credit bureaus. ( see attached ) Which very clearly they have as you can see from the attached documentation of my credit file. Once again I expect this to be deleted from my credit file ASAP.

Consumer Complaint: Did not receive a written document explaining debt from XXXX. Was not notified in order to pay the debt. The account was closed and was not told there was a balance left and was not given the opportunity to settle the debt by phone or letter. Found out XX/XX/2017 from a collection agency. Once notified I called XXXX in XX/XX/2017 and asked to settle and pay the debt but was told the debt was already with the XXXX XXXX collection agency. I settled the debt with collections but now have the collection account still on my credit report. I need this removed as I was not given written document allowing me to settle the debt with XXXX. Please remove this collection account with XXXX XXXX. The original creditor is XXXX. Thank you

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I receive notification from my identity theft protection account that a new account was open under my name. I researched what the account was there was no account number so I contact the company, XXXX XXXX XXXX, by written form via the United States Postal Service seeking information. Not only did the Collection agency disregard my second letter but blatantly refused to stop all efforts and remove this an accurate information from my credit report. I have now stated to them twice via writing that the information that they have is false or in accurate. I did not know, I did not give permission for somebody to use my own personal information to open an account. I was not aware of this account existed. I follow the process set up by the United States government yet this entity feels they are above the law. I hereby come to you today to hold this company accountable and audit their record management keeping and their processes and hold him legally responsible if they have violated additional laws.
