Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I neither affirm, nor deny this purported debt. You claim I owe XXXX XXXX XXXX the amount of {$100.00}. This letter is being sent to you in response to an entry made on my Credit Report dated XX/XX/2018. Please be advised that this is not a refusal to pay the debt, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 1 : USC 1692g Sec 809 ( b ) that your claim that I owe you money is disputed, and validation is requested. Under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, I have the right to request validation of the debt you say I owe you. I am requesting proof that I am the correct party, and there is some contractual obligation which is binding on me to pay this debt. This is NOT a request for verification via E-Oscar or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above-named Title and Section of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Reporting inaccurate and unsubstantiated information to a credit reporting agency may constitute fraud under federal law. Compliance with this request is required under the laws of state and federal statutes.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: Good Morning, Since XX/XX/XXXX I paid the balance in full on account held at XXXX XXXX for a prior unpaid debt of {$690.00} related to a XXXX bill from 7 years ago ( the account was originally one from XX/XX/XXXX ). I have cordially spoken with XXXX XXXX representatives on multiple times over the past few months. I have requested the following information from them but have not seen any results despite each representative agreeing that they would see that the matters are taken care of : 1. I have requested a receipt that shows that I paid this balance in full to them ; Even after verifying with them that they have my correct telephone number, current mailing address, and email ( on the last 2 occasions, the representatives promised that they would escalate the issue to a Supervisor and that I would be emailed a receipt for the payment on the same day that I placed the call to XXXX XXXX ) 2. I requested that since the debt was paid and the account is 7 years old, could they please send updated information to the credit bureau to show that my account is paid in full instead of it being listed as unpaid ( I have checked my credit reports from all three major credit bureaus and Equifax still shows this account as being in collections with an unpaid balance of {$690.00} ). 3. I requested on the last 2 occasions that they please provide me with a Deletion Letter, of which on both occasions, the XXXX XXXX representatives that I spoke with both said that a Deletion Letter being sent to me would not be a problem and that they would get that sent to me. The last time I called, the representative even told me that she could have that letter emailed to me. Of those 3 requests that I made for this paid debt, I have not received any response that they agreed to during the phone conversations. This is very frustrating. I have made calls to them at the following dates and times ( Eastern Standard Time ) recently : 1 ) XX/XX/XXXX 2 ) XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX spoke with a representative at XXXX 3 ) XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX spoke with a representative at XXXX 4 ) XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX spoke with a person who identified themselves as a Team Leader at XXXX XXXX at XXXX I included these dates and times as well because these phone call likely have been recorded for quality assurance.

Consumer Complaint: I received a notice of collection from a XXXX XXXX, and called to agency to dispute the validity of the debt. I advised the agency of the inaccurate information they were attempting to collect on. I advised the agency the information obtained from the creditor XXXX was invalid and to not report on my credit file until they could prove validity and accuracy of the information being collected. The debt collection agency never proved validity of the account to me either on the call nor in writing. XXXX XXXX has began to report and attempt to collect on an account that was verbally disputed. I contacted the creditor and was advised the agency - Convergent should not have reported anything to the credit bureaus due to arraignments set with XXXX. This agency is participating in unethical and unprofessional debt collection practices and is in violation of the FCRA.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/18, an item that had been previously paid before collections was finally removed from my credit report. This is a debt that I have been disputing for years now. Held by XXXX in the amount of {$220.00}. XXXX agreed to close my account under the condition that I return the phone that was being leased. This was to cover what was left on the phone to pay. Months later, I received a collection notice. I contacted XXXX, begged them to look into the phone conversations that took place to confirm that I was in fact told that I could leave XXXX XXXX and clear by sending them my phone and they said that in the fine print of the contract, it states I would have to pay off the phone and then keep it. They said there was nothing they could do now that they sent it to collections and the refused to send my phone back. This " debt '' has passed through XXXX XXXX now, and it has been removed twice. It's been reinserted for the second time. Not ONCE was I notified that an item was reinserted to my credit report. Not by the collection agencies and not by XXXX or any other bureau. I have been in the process of trying to repair my credit and keep hitting brick walls with this collection. I want it removed. This was settled years ago after I sent them their immaculately maintained phone. Further, I have lost most respect for these credit bureaus. They have responsibility over our entire lives by reporting debts correctly and more often than not I have found that they are inaccurate. I have NEVER once received notice that an item was reinserted on my report and this has happened before.

Consumer Complaint: I try to have this matter taken of thru XXXX but they say the matter is done thru them. This is about a debt that was made without my knowledge by someone I used to know. Brought a cell phone from XXXX back on XX/XX/XXXX for {$440.00}. She told me back in XX/XX/XXXX what she did, she put down {$150.00} to get the phone in my name which I wasn't aware of. Upon a collection agency trying to collect money from me which started back in XX/XX/XXXX. Said I owned them {$690.00}. XXXX XXXX which is a collection agency has destroyed my credit and has been calling me all the time. Which I have told them to stop but they haven't. The date and year and amount are all wrong from what the person who did this, showed me a purchase bill last year. She got the phone on XX/XX/XXXX, for {$440.00} and put down {$150.00}. This is not my debt.
