Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I called the original supposed debtor XXXX and their systems were supposedly down. I then tried to call the XXXX XXXX which is supposed to be the debt collection agency. The man who answered the phone kept saying " hello can you hear me now? '' I told him I could hear him fine and asked if he could hear me and he replied yes he then asked again if I could hear him now to which i just responded that I was calling about a debt. He asked for my name and I gave it. His response was " You have a very common name and I will need your social security number to look up the collection '' I told him I would only give the last 4 and if they have a debt associated with me as they claim it would bring up the account he said " Your name is too common and that even with the last 4 of my ssn he would not be able to find it without the whole number '' I told him they are trying to collect a fraudulent debt. I told him I would not give my entire Ssn to him and ended the phone call. I did have XXXX XXXX in the past but I had it for 4 years when I discontinued my service I A ) was no longer under contract as the contract I signed was only for 2 years B ) When terminating my services I paid my final bill and C ) I returned all equipment XXXX sent me back to them. I have dealt with debts before and I know his answers to be lies. I believe this is one of those yes scams just trying to steal information and identities posing as a collection agency. Oddly enough this supposed debt is only appearing on my XXXX Credit Report ( this debt was supposedly from 2012. ) after their breach I am wondering if all this is a result of my stolen information

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX attempted to collect a fraudulent debt ( including several other collection agencies ) reported by XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX to the major creditor reporting agencies in the amount of {$660.00}. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act., the collection of said debt on XX/XX/XXXX has been disputed and validation of the debt was requested. Although the debt was removed from my credit file after the seven year derogatory reporting period in XX/XX/XXXX ( adversely affecting my credit file ), the fraudulent account remained in collections for an extended two year period. The original creditor has refused to negotiate a settlement and all collections agencies involved have yet to verify the debt of record.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Old information reappears or never goes away
Consumer Complaint: I received an alert that an item ( that I have no knowledge of in the first place ) from XXXX XXXX had been removed from my credit report on or around XX/XX/XXXX. I was told that there was a glitch in the system. I thought maybe the glitch was in my favor being that I do not have knowledge of this account. On Sunday, XX/XX/XXXX, I received another alert that it had been added back to my reports. I did not receive written notice from either the collection agency or CRA 's that this item would be reinserted back on my credit file. New, validated proof of the debt was not provided either. This reinsertion is a clear violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This reinsertion has also caused a decline in my credit score and I am very unhappy. Due to this violation of my rights, I am requesting that this item be removed from my XXXX and XXXX reports permanently and immediately and that it not be placed on my XX/XX/XXXX report.
