Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I had a collection account with XXXX XXXX from an old XXXX XXXX bill I owed for. I called them to pay off the collection and they informed me that when it was paid in full, it would be removed from my credit reports. I made three payments to them in the amounts of {$81.00} each on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX, to pay off the collection. I waited a little while and noticed it was taken off my XXXX, but it still shows on my XXXX XXXX report and with a {$240.00} open balance! I filed a dispute and they responded saying it was valid, although it isn't! I then called the company to try and fix the problem and they just kept transferring me to other people and then hung up on me. It still shows on my XXXX XXXX account as open with a balance and now I can't get a loan for a car because they won't fix it on their end!

Consumer Complaint: To Whom It May Concern : I paid my final bill directly to XXXX in XX/XX/2017. I checked my credit report recently and was surprised to see XXXX XXXX reporting a " Paid/Closed '' collections account citing XXXX as the original creditor. I was never contacted by XXXX XXXX regarding this debt. By law, they had to notify me that they were collecting the debt before they could take any action, including reporting the account to the credit bureaus. I have never received any communication from Convergent, neither by mail, nor by phone. The account was paid in full to the original creditor. Moreover, I was never contacted by XXXX XXXX informing me they were collecting the debt. Therefore, XXXX XXXX must stop all collection activity on this account. This includes, but is not limited to, negative reporting to the credit bureaus.

Consumer Complaint: I spoke with XXXX XXXX multiple times over the Spring, Summer and Fall of XX/XX/XXXX regarding an account that was reported to my credit file. I received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX ( listed as Lead Compliance Representative ) stating that the account would be removed from the credit bureaus. The account was in fact removed from XX/XX/XXXXand XX/XX/XXXX, but was not removed from my experian credit file. I have since contacted the debt collector on a number of occasions ( most recently on XX/XX/XXXX ) to attempt to resolve and when I have contacted them I am transferred around multiple times, told that they can't assist me, and/or hung up on. XXXX XXXX is not honoring their promise to remove the account and is not giving me an outlet to resolve the issue.

Consumer Complaint: I have no documents to attach because there are none in existence. This is not my debt and has never been. Approximately XX/XX/XXXX, I received a credit alert from one of the reporting agencies. I immediately looked at my reports to find a collection agency placing a account. I found out who the alleged original creditor was and contacted them as I currently have an current open account with them. When I contacted them I inquired why my account was sent to collections. They told me that my account was CURRENT and I had NO PAST DUE BALANCE! I asked them to please look back to the inception of my account to positively make certain I did not owe any past due amount. They verified that there was no past due balance and also stated that there could be no past due balance since any amount not paid would be added to the next billing cycle. I already knew I had no delinquent amount with them, but wanted to make 100 % certain. I filed a dispute with XXXX on XX/XX/XXXXand on XX/XX/XXXX this account was DELETED. It was then reported to XXXX. Additionally, I never received any notice from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. that an account under my name was placed with them. They listed the open date on my credit report as XX/XX/XXXX ; IMPOSSIBLE since I contacted the original creditor on XX/XX/XXXX and verified I had no past due or account placed for collections. I did receive a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX datedXX/XX/XXXXsaying they investigated my dispute and will report their finding. This is a complete violation of FCRA 623 ( a ) ( 5 ) ( A ) and CFPB Appendix E to Part 222. They have not supplied me with any physical evidence of this alleged debt. They delete it from one reporting agency just to report it to the next. What are they agency hoping? This is unfair business practices and deceptive. I am being bullied into a paying for something that isn't mine. Does XXXX XXXX XXXX. make up fake accounts and report them in hopes that unsuspecting consumers pay them? How many other people has this unscrupulous company done this to? Are they even licensed? I am also going to file a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General 's office. I have already contacted them and confirmed I do have grounds for a complaint. This shady company needs to be investigated. I demand that this is removed from my credit reports once and for all!

Consumer Complaint: I started receiving calls about debit collection, i am never left a voice mail more then a few sec. the company calling would get a better response if they just left a voice mail with who to contact. this is harassment and should stop, in no way will the calls made at this time collect any debit as i do not even know who this is and they will not disclose any information and i have no income.

Consumer Complaint: Per the letter I received from XXXX if I didn't pay my final bill they would automatically withdraw {$600.00} out of my account. They withdrew {$600.00} on XX/XX/2018 from my credit card. I am disputing the posting of the collection account on my credit report by XXXX XXXX. I would like for them to remove this account from my credit report due to the fact they had no legal reason to report the debt nor did they own the debit and the debt was paid to the original creditor ( XXXX ).

Consumer Complaint: I noticed a collection account on my credit report from XXXX XXXX ( collection agency for XXXX XXXX ) 'date open ' : XX/XX/XXXX. I disputed with the credit bureaus requesting validation. The account came back as being " valid ''. I responded to the credit bureaus by letting them know in plain words that it is physically impossible for there to be an account opened in XX/XX/XXXX as the apartment complex I live in is not contracted with XXXX XXXX. ( I have been in the apartment since XX/XX/XXXX ) At the same time as I responded to the credit bureaus, I sent the collection agency, Convergent, a letter requesting validation of the debt. They responded stating, " This debt is valid, attached is verification of the debt. '' Attached was a screenshot from what appears to be a computer system. A contract was not included. There is nothing showing a breakdown of the amount that is owed.

Consumer Complaint: I sent a letter to XXXX XXXX requesting that they validate not verify a debt that they are attempting to collect from me. I specifically asked for a signed agreement and other support documentation. They provided me with billing statement which does not prove that I am obligated to pay them anything. They have reported delinquent information to the credit bureaus that I am asking to be deleted.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I went to a XXXX store to start a new service to take advantage of a special offer as I already had mobil phone service with XXXX XXXX XXXX. The customer service representative signed me up for the special offer. I specifically asked him if I could cancel and get a refund of the initial $ XXXX dollars. He said yes as long as I did within 14 days. I explained to him that we live in a rural area of XXXX XXXX county and that even though your coverage map includes our area some cell phone services do not work there. Our XXXX XXXX XXXX service works very well at our address and I was only trying to take advantage of a really good deal XXXX was offering at the time. So I started the service and when I got home I found out that the service was almost useless because of the in and out fade with only one bar of service showing on the phone. A few days later I returned to XXXX to shut down the service and get a return of the deposit and stop the auto pay that was initiated on my credit card to pay for the reoccurring monthly charges. I explained to the service representative that the service does not work well enough at my home and wanted to cancel and get a refund. He cancelled the service and returned the deposit to my credit card account. Everything was fine except the reoccurring monthly charges started showing up on my credit card. I talked to the XXXX store about this problem and they told me to call XXXX service. I called XXXX service and explained to the service rep what had happened and she told me it was taken care of. The charge reoccurred again the next month on my credit card so I disputed the charges to my credit card company and had them stop the reoccurring charges to XXXX. My credit card company refunded the charges and stopped the reoccurring charges. Good, so I have gotten my money back and everything is fine. Not really. XXXX referred my account to a collections company. I called the collections company and disputed the charges. OK. Not really. They referred the account to another collections company and that is where I am at right now. The second collection company for the same reoccurring charges that should have never been. I have no intention of paying these charges of {$210.00} and I will dispute them again but it seems to me there must be something wrong, even criminal about this. The current collection company is : XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX/ XXXX XXXX XXXX , WA . XXXX Dated XX/XX/XXXX Convergent acct. # XXXX Client acct # XXXX Hope there might be something you can do about this.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX at XXXX who switched my account to a different model for better pricing. I asked her at the time if there was any penalty if I had to cancel. She said no penalty as long as I was moving somewhere where there was no XXXX service. I moved from XXXX to XXXX, NC in late XX/XX/XXXX. I informed XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX that I would be moving and that the apartment I was moving to only gave me the option of XXXX. I gave them the address and phone number to verify. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX from XXXX indicated there would be no early termination penalty since I had no choice in the matter. Since then I have been harassed by three collection agencies. The first was XXXX XXXX, XXXX in XXXX, MO. The second was XXXX out of XXXX, IL. I wrote certified letters to five executives at XXXX. I asked for proof either in writing or to get a copy of the recorded call with XXXX of the early termination charges. I was told by XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, I would have to go to court to get this. I just received another letter and several phone calls from a third collection agency, XXXX XXXX. This is NOT verifying that I owe the charges they claim. I want this harassment from XXXX and XXXX to stop IMMEDIATELY. They must provide in writing that I authorized these charges which they will not and can not do. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
