Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: XXXX company has sent an account for collections to XXXX XXXX, a debt collection agency. I have been trying to explain to Convergent that I HIGHLY disagree with the charges as XXXX is making false statements about the nature of the debt. This situation is deeply troubling because I have been in escrow for my first home and they are about to cause me great financial harm by jeopardizing my loan prequalification. I will not hesitate to hold them responsible for any financial damages incurred due to this situation. Since I am in escrow, I am also cornered into settling this account post haste without having adequate time to dispute this account and " fight it out '' with XXXX. I have been trying to come to a resolution with Convergent that would resolve this account and remove the account from my credit report. They keep regurgitating that they do not " pay for delete '' which is NOT what I am requesting. Since it seems they only read from pre define scripts they are not able to address my concerns appropriately. This is deeply troubling, my stress level is through the roof and I need assistance from somebody regarding this unfortunate situation that is occurring.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: First of all I got a letter in the mail from XXXX XXXX stating they are a debt collector and that I owed XXXX {$150.00}. It gave an address, phone number, and ways to pay. My XXXX account is good and I owe nothing. I read through and looked at he letter more and something seemed fishy. So I went online to research this company and immediately came across hundreds of complaints about this company being a scam and when people call they ask for your social security number even after giving them the account number they have on the letter. The other people stated they are identity thieves and want your social security to steal. They are a theft ring.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Information belongs to someone else
Consumer Complaint: Received an alert from XXXX XXXX that I had a negative reporting. It said the account was open XX/XX/XXXX. It also had a FCRA dispute notice already attached. I called Convergent, after 3 calls was told that I needed to call XXXX. No help with resolution just 2 hang ups and 4 transfers. Then I was provided an address, account #. I asked if my DL or DOB were compromised and the lady at extension XXXX said the account did not have any contact or verifiable details beyond name and ss #. She said the account was actually from XX/XX/XXXX notXX/XX/XXXX, but that they would continue to report unless XXXX said otherwise. She advised to contact XXXX. I contacted XXXX who said I needed to provide a copy of my dl to be scanned at the store to garner any info. I explained that I needed to know basic info to file a police report, they claimed they needed a 6-10 digit pin for the account. Explaining that I would have no way of knowing, I gave my preferred pins to see if any would work. I was told they did not and that even providing my personal details that I would not be able to access the account info. I have identity theft alerts on my credit report and have since XX/XX/XXXX.
