Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: Federal law requires the following Within five days of contacting you, a debt collector must send you this written notice with the amount of money you owe and the name of the creditor. This notice also must explain what actions to take if you believe you do not owe money. While Convergent claims they do not buy debt and that they are only doing so on the clients behalf they still have to obide by credit collection guidelines. They are still Required to verify debt and provide mailing showing amount owed. Convergent is attempting to collect on a debt that was disputed with XXXX in the amount of XXXX . This XXXX $ was a cut off fee for services that were not used or explained. Information on the debt was sent to company and no response was received. This has to occur within 30 days. A written cease and desist was provided to the company on the basis of inaccurate debt reporting and failure to follow federal guidelines. Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I checked my credit report today and noticed that on XX/XX/2017, a collection was placed on my credit cable company XXXX. I currently have active service with XXXX and have never defaulted on my account. I was contacted about a year ago about having multiple services in my name including services in other states and different parts of town. Apparently my identity and likeness has been used to secure services in other locations.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I first received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, dated XX/XX/XXXX, and responded in writing on XX/XX/XXXX requesting more information about this alleged debt they claim I owe. XXXX XXXX, XXXX received this letter by Certified Mail on XX/XX/XXXX. I received a response, with a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX, stating that this debt is indeed valid and have included a supposed Verification of Debt which looks like a made up letter. On XX/XX/XXXX I then proceeded to contact XXXX, the original creditor, and talked to a XXXX employee ID # XXXX. She stated by phone, which was supposedly recorded, that she will mark this account in her records as fraudulent and that I should receive something by mail and then guided me to FTCs website to file an Identity Theft Report which I later did. Ive never received any correspondence from XXXX or XXXX. I then mailed XXXX XXXX, XXXX another letter on XX/XX/XXXX after my phone call with a XXXX which they received on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I also mailed them a letter from FTCs website asking them to stop all collection activity yet they continue to ignore my letters that I am a victim of identity theft as this account is not mine. XXXX XXXX, XXXX is still continuing to collect on a fraudulent account and keep mailing me the same document over and over. All copies will be uploaded here.

Consumer Complaint: I was a victim of Identity Theft and notified the debt collector of this and the only debt verification they sent back to me was a BILL. As the law states this is NOT significant proof of debt validation further more I have never received such bill and the name on the bill is incorrect.
