Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: This debt was turned over a couple years ago to a debt collection agency. I agreed that I owed a portion of the debt, but disputed the remainder of the debt. The portion that I owed, I paid to that collection agency. I filed a formal dispute on the remainder of the debt, and within 30 days I was contacted saying they were closing their file. Approximately 7 months ago, I was contacted by another debt collection agency for the same debt. I disputed the debt with them, explained the previous situation, and they encouraged me to contact XXXX directly to resolve the issue. I contacted XXXX directly and they refused to do anything to clear the debt. At both times I was contacted, the alleged debt included an equipment cost for equipment that they alleged we didn't return. When I contacted XXXX, they acknowledged that we had returned all equipment. On XX/XX/2018, I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, another debt collection agency for this same alleged debt. This letter also mentions an equipment cost, I'm assuming for the equipment that XXXX already acknowledged that I returned. I am disputing this debt with XXXX XXXX directly, but this continuous contact for a debt I've already disputed twice is, in my opinion, beginning to border on harassment. I have taken all the necessary steps I needed to take to resolve this issue, and XXXX seems to just transfer the debt to another agency to try to collect.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: I have been repeatedly called by XXXX XXXX through a computerized autodialing system. I have attached a file showing all calls I believe were from them ; In the file you will see where I received multiple calls a minute a part and also calls received before XXXX. When I answered these calls, the other end would be silent then the call would end. Many calls later, I decided to confirmed with XXXX, the original creditor, that my debt had been outsourced to XXXX XXXX. Next, I returned the call to the collection agency on XX/XX/XXXX ; after being told the call was being recorded and the amount owed, I asked where in my contract with the original debtor did I give permission for them to repeatedly robocall me. They would not answer my question so I requested to speak with the supervisor. I repeated this question to the supervisor, and she responded that the contract did not give permission for them to do so. I then asked, " Then when was permission given by me? '' She responded that today was the first time they spoke to me and that I haven't given permission. Next, I asked, " then why am I receiving illegal robocalls? '' She stated an automated system makes these calls to everyone until they are told not to and that this is legal until first contact. This conversation showed not that these calls were a mistake but that they willfully harass all consumers that they are trying to collect a debt from this way. They harassed me in various ways and lied about my consumer rights.

Consumer Complaint: I received a bill and numerous phone calls from XXXX XXXX. I explained that I know nothing about the debt and to please send me proof of it. They claim it was from XX/XX/XXXX and the debt is for {$1000.00} from XXXX. The bill says I could settle for {$350.00}. I have now asked 4x for proof of debt to no avail. Today I saw it was on my credit report and account opened XX/XX/XXXX. This is total nonsense. I have had XXXX for as long as I can remember. I need assistance. Thank you

Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I have complained about this once before, when XXXX turned my account over to a collection company. They took the debt down and issued a letter deleted it from the credit bureaus. Once again I have a collection in the amount of XXXX From now a collection company called XXXX XXXX XXXX. I paid my XXXX bill and had the last payment in XX/XX/XXXX. It was a XXXX balance. I ended the account because I was in a car accident. I sent the equipment back as well as got confirmation about this. The problem is that they are billing me when I had a long history of paying the bill. My bill was only {$70.00} a month. How they are figuring over {$500.00} is fraudulent. They have told me its because I got a charge for " early termination '', however, the final bill stated over the phone was around {$200.00}, and they waived the termination fee because I had a good reason not to continue the service. I have called XXXX over 50 times on this matter. I have filed complaints plus was promised by many management teams that this would be addressed. I sent faxes and made memos. They never do as promised. The representatives never know whats going on. I am not paying for a bill that is not warranted. For convergent to file this on my personal credit is against the law, against the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I have spoken to both companies and tried to resolve this but to no avail. I need this to come off my credit as it is affecting my livelihood and ability to obtain proper financing for my business. What they are doing is a crime. I was quoted by XXXX on chat as well as phone that my final bill was {$200.00}. The last payments I made was in XX/XX/XXXX, and It was a XXXX balance when I closed the account. My bill was only {$70.00} per month. For them to jump this up to $ XXXX {$700.00}? Is a crime. Please advise. Thank you XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX. on XX/XX/18. This letter was for debt collection of {$750.00} from XXXX XXXX I do not owe XXXX any money. I called XXXX and verified that, I did not own them anything. The person I spoke with stated that they do not do business with XXXX XXXX. He told me to ignore the letter. I called XXXX XXXX and explained the situation. The representative told me that I owed the money, and suggested that my XXXX account had been hacked. I told him, I would file a criminal complaint on this issue, and he asked me if he could file the complaint. When he stared asking me personal questions, I told him, I would do the complaint myself. I had no idea who this person was. This morning I did a XXXX search on the company, and found that they have a long track record of collection fraud.

Consumer Complaint: I requested that XXXX XXXX provide me with validation that I owe THEM money. I also requested that they show copies of papers saying that I agreed to pay what they say I owe & I did not receive that information. I did however receive the documents that they claim are debt validation. But I am here to advise that the account summary from your computer database that was sent over does not validate that I owe them any money. I am requesting documents showing that I agreed to do business with THEM ( XXXX XXXX ) and that the money is owed to XXXX XXXX. Please provide me with a signed contract that shows my signature agreeing to do business with XXXX XXXX. Furthermore according to the XXXX you can not collect on a charged off debt purchased from the original creditor. I want this information removed from my credit report immediately! I sent Convergent a certified letter asking for proof of the debt requesting copies of outstanding bills from XXXX, the original collector to which tally up to the amount of {$5300.00}. I would like an explanation and breakdown and most importantly ALL of the outstanding bills from XXXX, which justifies and shows the amount owed. Convergent only provided me with an account summary, which is useless to the information I requested. I have demanded to see how XXXX & Convergent, have calculated the amount owed of {$5300.00}, preferably through outstanding bills. Your company has found this debt to be valid however did not provide me with any justification, bills or unpaid balances reports of the valid or any of the information I requested in the certified letter which was sent and received by Convergent on XX/XX/XXXX. Pleased note again, I need to be provided with the outstanding bills from the original company, XXXX that lead up to the amount of {$5300.00}.
