Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Consumer Complaint: It was reported on my credit on XX/XX/XXXX that I owe money to XXXX. I have never received anything from XXXX XXXX ( the collection company ) or spring on this saying I owe money. I havent even been with XXXX for 6 months. I can not find any contact information to dispute this with convergent as I am unable to find a number or even website. I do not believe this debt is mine. And XXXX had and has always had my updated information.

Consumer Complaint: I have never done business with XXXX XXXX, and do not owe them a dime for cellular services. I've never been notified of an outstanding debt from Convergent, and they have never responded to my repeated attempts to have them validate the debt. It is disheartening that this company and others are allowed to violate the FCRA continually, and they do so without repercussion from the CFPB.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I received an invoice from XXXX XXXX , XXXX saying I owed {$210.00} for an unpaid balance to XXXX XXXX. They did not say the date of the bill or what it was for, just the company. They immediately offered to drop the amount to {$150.00} if I called or paid it within 30 days of the invoice. I've been receiving a ton of calls recently as well that I have not answered because I didn't know the number. After receiving this invoice, I immediately thought it to be a scam as I have not had a XXXX bill in I don't know how long. Actually it could be over 10 years and it was for cable. I also know that everything has been paid and I owe nothing. So I did some research online and it looks like they try to collect on things that aren't even owed. I called to let them know I didn't have bill. When the lady answered she immediately asked if this was, ( said my name ). I said " This is she. '' And then she said the reason I'm calling is because of a debt you are owed. This conversation is being recorded for collection purposes. I said, first of all, I called you. You didn't call me and I don't owe anything to this company. How did you get my name and this " supposed '' debt amount. She then asked for my social security number. I refused and said I don't give that out. She said I owed a bill and they are trying to collect and again asked for my social so they could verify the information and tell me what exactly it was for. I again said no. Then I said they should remove my name and number from their calling list and not to call again or I would notify the police. She then hung up on me. So far nothing has shown up on my credit report. Hopefully nothing will or I will be furious.

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from XXXX XXXX ( see attached ) dated XX/XX/XXXX. I followed up with this company disputing the entry they placed on my credit reports. This company did not send a dunning letter prior to placing the entry on my credit report. This is a direct violation of my consumer rights. Additionally, it did not allow me the 30 days as mandated by consumer law to dispute the validity of their inaccurate entry. In my letter to them ( see attached ), dated, XX/XX/XXXX, I specifically requested that the provide me validation of debt and not verification of the debt. Convergent responded with the exact information that they sent to me on XX/XX/XXXX ( see attached ). I requested the following : An agreement that states their authority to collect on this alleged debt, agreement with signature of the alleged debtor wherin he/she agreed to pay the creditor, alleged account number, original delinquency date, date this alleged debt became payable, verification that this debt was assigned or sold to collector, complete accounting of the alleged debt and name and address of the bonding agent for this collection agency in case legal action becomes necessary. Convergent failed to deliver the information, yet they continue to violate my consumer rights with the reporting of this entry. This item should be DELETED immediately from my reports.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX i received a voicemail from this number XXXX stating they had a compaint against me and if i did not respond they would call my HR/payroll dept on file. On XX/XX/XXXX i called the number out of fear they left me to call back XXXX and spoke to a XXXX XXXX who said he was a paralegal and that they had been trying to serve me for a lawsuit regarding a credit card I had with XXXX. I told him i did not recall a credit card with XXXX and asked when it was from he said XX/XX/XXXX with it being sent to collection in XX/XX/XXXX. I still did not recall and asked why i had not been contacted sooner and he said they just got my phone number. I said they had over 10 years to send me something by mail he said they did which i said i never received. I told him to send me the stuff now. He refused and said XXXX has made the decision to pusue me legally with a lawsuit before the statute of limitations expire and I should hire a lawyer. I asked how much the debt was he said 1600 plus, I then asked why had i not been given a settlement amount he said i could settle for 900 plus. He said he would send me the settlement paperwork on Monday XX/XX/XXXX. 1. They tricked me into calling them by threatning to call my HR/Payroll dept. which is against the law. 2. If the debt is real the Statute of Limitations had already expired in Florida if the end activity date was XX/XX/XXXX like he said. So threatning lawsuit/ garnishment is banned based on the SOL. He also said the SOL had not expired so he lied and tried to scare me even more. 4. I XXXX the phone numbers and his name and it seems others have the same compaint and state its a scam. Now, I did receive an email today XX/XX/XXXX from a company called XXXX XXXX which I refuse to open. This debt, which I dont even know is mine is out of the SOL and better not of started over because of thier threatning call to me stating they would contact my HR/Payroll Dept. Plus the verbal threat of lawsuit / garnishment from XXXX XXXX on a debt that is past the SOL is against the law. This XXXX XXXX who claims to be a paralegal needs to be stopped. Plus he also said he was representing XXXX but in reality he is a collection company that buys debts for pennies on the dollar and then scares and scams people. XXXX XXXX left me his personal number XXXX I would like you to pursue this as I was threatened and scared by this person for a supposed debt whose statute of limitations had already expired in Florida. I do have the original voicemail threatning to contact my HR / Payroll Dept if you would like to hear it or have me send it to you by email.

Consumer Complaint: I have had several messages left in my voicemail box stating that I will be served with legal papers to my address on record. I spoke with a representative from XXXX XXXX XXXX and made a request for original contracts and agreements to be sent to me at my address detailing the debt that they claim I owe. I have not received anything showing that I owe the funds other than repeated calls at times as early as XXXX XXXX XXXX in the XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX has also damaged my credit by placing the amount of {$680.00} as a delinquent collection account which is adversely lowering my credit score and preventing me from qualifying for a mortgage program.
