Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of identity theft and upon reviewing my credit file I have become aware of an account held by XXXX XXXX that is a direct result of identity theft. I have never had any dealings with Convergent or the company XXXX that they represent. An amount of {$1300.00} that is listed on my account does not belong to me it is fraud. I have contacted Convergent credit regarding the account IN THE AMOUNT OF {$1300.00}, 4 thru certified mail asking to verify that I owe their company any funds and for what. Ive also ask for anything bearing my signature that verifies I have obligations to pay them or have had any business dealings with them. Yet they have failed to validate according to law. This collection company is damaging my credit file and cant provide legal proof. I have not had any dealing with convergent or XXXX whom they represent. This account is a result of identity theft.

Consumer Complaint: A billing error between my ex husband ( divorced for XXXX years ) and XXXX cable resulted in a bill of {$1000.00}. Somehow this was in my name for services in his residence. I do not have a XXXX account..My ex husband claims he resolved this error with XXXX long ago but now, not only am I getting billed from a collection agency ( Convergent ) but now it showed upon my credit report. During a 3 way conversation on the phone with Convergent, my ex stated to them I had nothing to do with this account, but they said there is nothing they can do. I called XXXX and they won't deal with me since the account went to collections. I'm hoping you can help me.

Consumer Complaint: I am tired of XXXX trying to collect on a debt I Do Not owe. XXXX had sent an account to a debt buyer under the name XXXX XXXX, I disputed this account immediately with the credit reporting bureaus in XX/XX/2018 as not mine. Around XX/XX/2018 I was notified that XXXX XXXX had reported on my reports and the original creditor was XXXX. I received a collection letter from Convergent claiming I owed the debt so I requested a Debt Validation and they Did Not validate the debt as mine nor did they supply me with the original contract with my name on it. They merely sent to me a bill print out. XXXX is ruining my credit and I am simply tired of having them re-selling this fraudulent debt to a third party debt collector after its removed from my credit reports. I have NO Knowledge of this debt and have never opened an account with XXXX and they are listing this fraudulent account as mine. I have since filed an Identity Theft report against this fraudulent account against XXXX and have included it in this complaint.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I received a letter ( dated XX/XX/2018 ) in the mail from Convergent Outsourcing Inc. I opened it and found myself equal parts surprised, confused, and a little scared. The letter stated that they were a collection agency attempting to collect a debt. I found this very odd as I have a good credit score and pay all my bills. I looked at the amount ( {$330.00} ), and the original company claiming the debt ( XXXX ). I instantly became suspicious as I have only used the account once, which was several years ago. I checked my XXXX account. It confirmed that my account balance was indeed {$0.00} and that the last activity was years ago. I`m going to attempt to contact Convergent, but after a quick google search pointing to a scam, I`m apprehensive to deal with them. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Subissue: Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed
Consumer Complaint: I presume this company is trying to contact me about a past due bill. I HAVE NO PAST DUE BILLS or outstanding debt. I believe them to be a scam company. In XX/XX/2011, all outstanding debt on my credit report was handled as part of my divorce and either settled, written off, or paid in full. NO BAD DEBT OR OUTSTANDING BILLS are on my credit report, nor have they been since XX/XX/2011. This company keeps asking for personal information from me and I have told them not to call me again. They have now called my landlord. I have contacted the company and requested they not do this again, but I do not know if they will comply. AGAIN, I have not had any outstanding/past due debt on my credit report since XX/XX/2011. I check my report regularly and I do not see any evidence of identity theft either. So AGAIN, I presume this is a SCAM.
