Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: Convergent Outsourcing has been harassing me to collect a debt of {$560.00} from the original creditor XXXX. I PAID in FULL XX/XX/2016 my bill in cash directly to XXXX and this is not legal. It has shown up on my credit report and it is unfair that this has affected my fico credit score. I need it to be removed from all credit bureaus. I paid my financial obligation and should not be harassed by phone, my house phone and mail for a debt that I have already paid in full. I have spoken to XXXX and they have told me there is XXXX balance that I owe. I need this removed from all 3 credit bureaus immediately and for the harassment to stop.

Consumer Complaint: I cancelled internet service with XXXX as they did not have customer service for deaf customers and their internet service failed to my home. Their response was always " call us '' but they did not have TTY and I am deaf. I was billed for several months where clearly I did not have service and thus XXXX failed to meet the minimum contract service requirements. XXXX eventually agreed not to charge me for their failed service, however I have now received an offer from Convergent to reduce the {$190.00} that I do not owe to {$130.00}. This is a fraudulent attempt to collect a debt that was discharged by XXXX and which resulted in a number of complaints against XXXX by Colorado customers with similar complaint histories as mine. I NEVER owed CenturyLink as they were notified that I cancelled internet service and continued to bill me after I cancelled service in violation of Colorado law and contract law. Convergent is committing XXXX by attempting to coerce payment for a " zombie '' debt that XXXX has clearly XXXX from their accounting books.

Consumer Complaint: I received a printed letter dated XX/XX/19, from Convergent Outsourcing , Inc, saying that they are trying to collect debt from me, placed by XXXX. The amount was {$1600.00} First time I called them on XX/XX/XXXX ( I was out of the country so couldn't call earlier ), to inform them that this debt isn't mine, and asked them to investigate, since this looked like fraud. The associate introduced himself as XXXX XXXX and reassured me that I did everything right and they are going to investigate. He asked me to verify my information, and the email ( basically, XXXX account ) wasn't mine! He also asked me if I suspect my relatives or I shared any my information anywhere. I said absolutely not about relatives and - that I am very careful about my information. Needless to say, my account on XXXX is positive and I never received any emails or letters from them saying I owe them money. I still emailed XXXX asking if anything is owed in my name, and explained the situation, they said that they couldn't find anything and asked me if I can provide them that email address, supposedly registered in my name, that owed them money. Then, I received another letter from Convergent, dated XX/XX/19, saying that they have received my dispute and they " have verified '' the information with the original creditor and the " charges are valid '', and, if I want to send any additional information, I need to contact them. I called them again ( on XX/XX/XXXX ), and their system recognized my phone! I asked the representative to provide that email and she said she couldn't! I was surprised, why not, if they demand money FROM ME thinking it's my debt! She said charges were made on XX/XX/XXXX. I said, again, that it's not mine and they need to investigate. What was the bank account this XXXX linked to? If there were goods ordered, what's the address it was ordered to? I think it's very easy and there are so many ways to find them. I called XXXX this time, on XX/XX/XXXX, asking to confirm one more time that no money owed in my name. The representative confirmed that my account is positive and there wasn't any letter. She also said that, IF there was any debt, they would contact me first. I called Convergent right after, on XX/XX/XXXX, with all this information, saying that I received the letter and the debt isn't mine. The representative said it will be transferred to a fraud state. I asked, why wasn't it transferred before, right after I called the first time? She said she doesn't know. She said they will be sending me a " fraud package '' which I will have to fill out and mail them back ( what??? ) I said that I called XXXX and they said I don't owe them any money. She asked " What is your XXXX account that you said, is XXXX balance? '' I said - oh no, I am not giving you any additional personal information. You only had my name and my mailing address, which can be easily obtained from any stolen envelope ( or internet ), then I called you, now you have my phone number, and now you are asking my XXXX account? NO. I also said for the record, that unless they have proof it's me ( which they won't because it isn't ), they need to stop harassing me with their letters and " packages ''. I told them it's not mine, and they have to stop contacting me and start investigating. By investigating, I don't mean emailing to XXXX asking if " the charges are valid ''.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: This is the third CFPB complaint I have had to file against this company, all for the same reason, I will not stop contacting me. My first complaint was filed after I sent them a debt validation letter in response to their collection letter dated XX/XX/XXXX. They did not respond to that complaint at all. They later claimed they didn't receive it but I sent the letter certified mail and have the signed postcard. The second complaint was filed because they continued to call me multiple times per day after they received my DV letter and after I filed the original CFPB complaint. In response to these two complaints, they told the CFPB that they would send me validation documents. These were never sent. I contacted XXXX XXXX by email ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX regarding their dishonesty in their response to the CFPB complaints and again requested that the debt be validated. She replied that same day saying they would check with the creditor and verify the balance amount. I responded saying that that was not what I asked for and that I expect them to verify the debt as they are required to do so and as they told the CFPB they would. I also pasted the text of the DV letter I sent them on XX/XX/XXXX. I received no further response and never received any documents from them. I followed up on XX/XX/XXXX by email and did not receive a response then either. Today I received another collection letter in the mail from them regarding the same supposed debt. This violates the FDCPA because they have continued contacting me without first supplying me with verification of the debt.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: Years ago, I had a XXXX account. For one reason or another, I closed the account. In XXXX, I received correspondence from a collection company - XXXX XXXX XXXX - in regards to an outstanding balance of {$1500.00} ( ref # XXXX ). I told the representative that I acknowledged the debt, but that I believe that what I owed was half of that. We settled on {$800.00}, split into two payments of {$400.00}. I made the first payment on XX/XX/XXXX and the second payment was made on XX/XX/XXXX ( I have receipts of both transactions ). The derogatory remark was removed from my credit report after the last payment was made. In XXXX, it showed back up under a different company - Convergent Outsourcing. I reached out to them on XX/XX/XXXX in writing, asking for an explanation. I also disputed it via XXXX XXXX ( to no avail ). A year later, I am still dealing with this outstanding debt that has been paid over 3 years ago. I contacted Convergent ( account number XXXX ) today, via phone, and spoke with a lady who was so rushed that I couldn't even catch her name. I explained the issue. She told me that I could sent the receipts to her via scanned email. When I asked what the follow up protocol is, she told me that it could be 30-90 days before I hear anything in regards to the issue. I think this is absolutely ridiculous and I told the lady so. She, then, told me that they have to reach out to XXXX and wait to hear back from them. I am confused, as the account is no longer with XXXX. It did not even come to Convergent from XXXX. It came from XXXX. I told her that I was thoroughly disappointed in both XXXX and Convergent. Albeit, the account is delinquent due to my original negligence, but I resolve this situation ( or so I thought ) 3 years ago, and now I am being told that it could be another 90 days before I know whether it's been resolved, or not. And, if it isn't resolved, what are the next steps?!

Consumer Complaint: I have been contacted by convergent in regards to a collection account that is supposedly owed by me. I have yet to receive any type of legally binding signed contract that the debt is mine. There is no contract that this debt is owed by me. Out of good faith, I agreed to pay a small amount towards this bill until this issue is resolved. The first payment of {$30.00} was deducted on XX/XX/XXXX. I am requesting this debt be validated by a signed contract.

Consumer Complaint: Convergent Outsoursing is trying to collect a debt ( {$1100.00} ) that is not mine. On XX/XX/2019 i sent certified usps letter to Convergent Outsoursing requesting to Validate the debt, pursuant to FDCPA ,15 USC 1692g Sec.809 ( b ). Convergent responded to my request with a letter dated XX/XX/2019, stating that debt is valid and the only evidence sent with that is a bill/statement from XXXX XXXX that has my name and completely unknown address to me. They are also reporting this debt to Credit Bureaus. This is no way can be sufficient Debt Validation under FDCPA/FCRA, and is a clear violation of FDCPA/FCRA.
