Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I had a bill with XXXX. It was sent to collections and i paid the bill in full to comast. It cleared through my bank. It was reported on my credit report by 2 different collection agencies for 2 different amounts. I disputed them both and one was removed. However, the collection agency, covergent outsourcing Inc, will not correct the issue. I disputed it through all credit reporting agencies providing proof of it being paid and with convergent outsourcing several times. The dispute just keep coming back as the information being accurate. So then I requested verification of the debt. Convergent outsourcing sent me the original bill from years ago saying it was valid as of XX/XX/XXXX. This is incorrect because I paid it to XXXX. Sending a copy of the original last bill from years ago isnt proof of the amount owed as of current. I have tried several steps the get this corrected and they will not update or remove it from my credit report, even though when I paid XXXX they told me it would be removed from my credit report.

Consumer Complaint: Convergent Outsourcing has reported to the credit bureaus that I owe them money. I have written and asked for validation and still have not received anything proving that the debt is mine. They also have pulled my credit report several times without my permission or knowledge. I never authorized for my report to be pulled, nor do I owe them any money and they will not provide proof.

Consumer Complaint: So i signed up with XXXX because they told me they would give me a {$50.00} gift card. They never did. I called and asked about it and they said i had to fill out a form online. I did that. They still didnt give me the gift. I called again and they acted like nobody ever spoke to me or like i never called. They asked me to fill the form again. This was now a couple weeks after i opened my XXXX phone account. Never received the gift. I called again, again they acted as if it was the first time i called but stated the promo was over. Well i stayed with them for a few years but didnt like the service so i switched to XXXX. In order to do so i called XXXX to cancel my account and the agent said i would have to pay the rest of the month bill. I said fine. Then following month i received another bill. I called XXXX and they insisted i pay. So i tried to raise a complaint and the rep said she can take half the payment which was {$35.00} and it would settle the account. So i paid the {$35.00}. Which was half, and was told the account was settled. I recieved anothet bill for the other half. When i called they said to pay, i explained my previous agreement and the rep said ok, just disregard the bill. She said it was an auto generated bill and not to worry. Then i was contacted by XXXX or debt collector. Im not sure. They offered to settle for {$39.00}. More than the original amount, or i will have to pay {$43.00}. Well i told my story again. They said it wasnt valid and i said they would send me a letter to dispute i would have to send a letter as well and they would mark the account as refused. Well i then received a bill from convergent outsourcing inc . Asking me to pay XXXX. So i called and they refused to tell me anything unless i gave my social or date of birth. They would tell me where to send dispute or give me any info at all. I confirmed my account number with them but they said they cant tell me anything without me confirming my private info. Well its only XXXX but its a broken system. Companies doing whatever they want and not being held accou table. It was deceptive, unfair, and abusive.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 Convergent Outsourcing Inc. mailed me a letter claiming that I owe XXXX XXXX or XXXX {$43.00} and that this creditor has placed my account with their office for collection, and that I can pay by mail, phone, or internet. It is stated that I have 30 days to dispute this and if I do not Convergent will obtain verification of my debt or obtain a copy of the judgement against me. I have been in touch with XXXX through email on XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ), XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ), and talked with a XXXX Security Customer Service Representative on XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) with concern about the security of my account, to verify I do not owe money, and that Convergent Outsourcing Inc., is falsely claiming I have outstanding debt and trying to collect money on their behalf. XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX ) I have mailed a dispute letter to Convergent Outsourcing Inc. stating them of their false claim, that I was keeping the original collections letter, and reporting them to XXXX , Minnesota Department of Commerce , Federal Trades Commission , XXXX XXXX XXXX , Consumer Financial Protection Bureau , that I know my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and to not contact me about this debt again. Convergent Outsourcing Inc. has my name and address and hopefully nothing more than that.
