Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I have on multiple occasions reached out and disputed a collection listed on my credit report with convergent outsourcing Inc as well as XXXX and XXXX. The two credit bureaus keeping sending me back that the debt has been deemed verified but it is not. I have absolutely no idea about this account and it can not be verified as mine by the credit collection agency. I spoke to a representative at Convergent Outsourcing named XXXX in attempt to verify this collection. I advised her that it is not mine and I have no idea about it. I asked her to send me a copy of a contract or legal document bearing my signature. I was advised by her that they don't have anything with my signature or anything to validate the account is indeed mine. She said they were just tasked to collect and are doing so. She went on to advise me that she did not need to validate any information to collect a debt. I then contacted the credit bureaus back for the third time to advise them of my conversation with the collection agency. I advised them that they can not validate my debt so therefore how could the collection agencies. They advised me to call the collection agency to deal with it. Mind you not on three previous attempts I mailed dispute letters to both XXXX and XXXX to disputed with no resolution. I am entitled to a complete and accurate credit report and this collection violates that. I am asking for assistance in rectifying this as it is not my account.

Consumer Complaint: I was checking on my credit score and accuracies on XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX when I saw a derogatory remark from Convergent Outsourcing, inc saying I have a debt with XXXX for the amount {$2200.00} listed XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXXand they said I disputed this, this is a false claim I have not talked with Convergent or heard from them or XXXX, the amount is false as the account was closed. It is listed that last payment on XXXX was XX/XX/XXXX, this is a false statement. I canceled my XXXX account on or aroundXX/XX/XXXX and returned all equipment. I have not had an account with XXXX since then. How can anyone get a residential bill for {$2200.00} from a utility company without getting turned off for being past due for one maybe two months? This is nothing more than a corporate Shake down and extortion from XXXX and Convergent Outsourcing. I do not have records for this account with XXXX as it has been closed for almost 7 years. I have not lived at the address the account was associated with for five years.
