Consumer Complaint: I received multiple letters from Convergent Outsoucing asking me to pay a debt from a company ( XXXX ) with whom I have never done any business. Convergent stated that if I paid the debt, they would be willing to satisfy your account in full for 65 % of your total balance. I assumed it was a scam with the first letter ( and destroyed it ). With the second letter I contacted convergent but they kept passing me from one operator to another with long wait times between. No one would address me with the issue.

Consumer Complaint: AFTER CHECKING MY CREDIT REPORTS I DISCOEVERED THAT XXXX HAD REPORTED DEBTS OF SERVICE IN ANOTHER STATE WHERE I PREVIOUSLY LIVED. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE PROVIDER AND THEY INDICATED THAT THEY WERE COLLECTING A DEBT FROM FIVE YEARS AGO. DURING THE DISCUSSION THE XXXX REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THE COMPANY HAD NO OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE ME A FINAL BILL OR ANY INDICATION OF THE EXISTENCE OF THE DEBT PRIOR TO THE COLLECTION. THE COMPANY WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE XXXX, I HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF IDENTITY THEFT AND REQUIRED SUCH INFORMATION TO BE PROVIDED IN TIMELY MANNER TO AVOID THESES SITUATIONS. THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED IT WAS A " COURTESY '' FOR EVERSOURE TO PROVIDE NOTICES OF ALLEGED DEBTS AND WAS NOT OBLIGATED. EVERSOURCE VIOLATED FAIR CREDIT LAW INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING : Debt collector communications concerning identity theft. If a person acting as a debt collector ( as that term is defined in title VIII ) on behalf of a third party that is a creditor or other user of a consumer report is notified that any information relating to a debt that the person is attempting to collect may be fraudulent or may be the result of identity theft, that person shall ( 1 ) notify the third party that the information may be fraudulent or may be the result of identity theft ; and ( 2 ) upon request of the consumer to whom the debt purportedly relates, provide to the consumer all information to which the consumer would otherwise be entitled if the consumer were not a victim of identity theft, but wished to dispute the debt under provisions of law applicable to that person.

Consumer Complaint: Convergent Outsourcing is a debt collector reporting to the bureaus illegally. I requested proof of their claim for the alleged debt XX/XX/2020 via certified mail. They failed to provide proper validation. I also informed them they are illegally reporting under their own name on a Massachusetts consumer credit report in violation of 209 CMR 18.17 ( 11 ). They failed to remove their listing. I sent them a second notice XX/XX/2020 via certified mail. They again, failed to provide any proof of ownership of the account or any record of a contract showing my signature in accordance with the alleged debt. I sent them a third notice XX/XX/2020 via certified mail informing them I would report to the CFPB on their illegal activities. They ignored my notice.

Consumer Complaint: I have not received any confirmation on how you have verified the alleged accounts attached in Exhibit C and therefore request that you consider this a final notice to your officers. Past this point, The CFPB will have authenticated sworn testimony from my end, which I would gladly present in court, if need be as evidence of my trying to rectify the subterfuge that you are reporting. I have not received confirmation nor certified testimony that your officers complied with the FCRA and all its mandated rules, when it comes to reporting accurately. Therefore, you are to present to me with a certificate in testimony that the alleged accounts presented in Exhibit C are in fact complaint and not subterfuge? As a result, I`m willing to settle this debt immediately at 80 % per the total balance. ( copy from the Affidavit attached ) ************

Consumer Complaint: Noticed a debt collection on my credit report from XX/XX/2020. I disputed the amount and recieved paper work about 45 days later. I didnt have the money to settle/pay debt. I was able to pay debt in XX/XX/2020. I reached out to Convergent Outsourcing to settle debt. They stated they no longer had this account it was transferred to another collection agency. I was able to contact the agency who had my account and the debt was paid and no other action was needed. I reached out to Convergent to request that the collection be removed from my credit report as they no longer had the account. I spoke with several representatives as well as " supervisors '' to rectify the situation. I just wanted something stating that they were going to delete the account from my credit report. I was told varying stories about how they wouldnt give me a letter stating it would be removed, but they requested the deletion to the credit bureaus. I asked if I could have documentation of that and they refused. They said I would have to wait until they reported their monthly progress to the credit bureaus. They were supposed to update on XX/XX/2020 and it has not. I am trying to get a mortgage and can not because of this.

Consumer Complaint: This collection is from XXXX. I originally canceled my phone account with them when I switched over to XXXX XXXX XXXX back in XX/XX/XXXX. I thought everything was good to go, but a few months later, I noticed reoccurring charges coming from XXXX, even though I was no longer using their service. I canceled my card so they would stop charging my card and I went into a XXXX store, talked to an employee and they told me that I had to call the customer service number because she could not help me in store. I called the customer service number, was waiting on hold, and on the phone with XXXX Customer Service for multiple hours. After explaining to them what was happening, I kept getting transferred to different people in different departments, and finally I asked if it was possible for them to use the charges from what they've charged me to pay off the phone that was on a lease. She said that she would look into it and have them call me back within 72 hours to tell me if that was possible, but a refund would be issued and my account would be canceled. They could see on their end that I hadn't used my phone accounts with them since XXXX so there should be no charges at all minus the payment of what the rest of the phone would be on the lease, which was still less than they were charging me, so I should have gotten money back. I didn't hear back from XXXX, so I assumed that it was taken care of and my account was canceled. This was back in XX/XX/XXXX. Since then, I have moved to a new address, and did not know they were still charging my account because I was no longer with the company. I recently ( today XX/XX/XXXX ) tried applying for a credit card since my score was a XXXX on XXXX XXXX, and showed 0 hard inquiries and 0 collections. It said my approval odds for the XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card were very good, so I applied and got denied. After this, I immediately called the reconsideration hotline to explain why I wanted the card and that I have great credit and I didn't understand why I didn't get approved. After looking at my full credit report, the agent said that I had a {$610.00} collection, and this was the reason I got denied for the credit card. When she told me this, I had NO idea that I had a collection because I have not received any calls from collection agencies nor any mail delivered to my home showing my collection amount. I had no idea where this collection came from. I made an account with XXXX today, and I was able to see that the collection came from XXXX which is not what I owe. If anything, they owe me money for billing extra months.
