Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed
Consumer Complaint: I wrote a check from my business account ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) to a company/vendor for the amount of {$1600.00} and dropped the check in a secured official USPS post office mailbox on XX/XX/2023 ; on the morning of XX/XX/2023, I received a notice from Wells Fargo ( my bank of XXXX years ) that the check had cleared for {$11000.00}, overdrawing my account by {$450.00}, yet showing it still cleared/ paid by my bank. I immediately went online to pull up a copy of the check and saw that it had been clearly forged ( company name crossed out, name of " XXXX XXXX '' added, " XXXX '' changed to " XXXX '' in the amount, written line clearly showing " XXXX '' was written over " XXXX '' ). I called my bank immediately to let them know the check had been forged, that I did not authorize that amount and did not know the endorser, and asked that they stop payment on the check. I was told that a stop payment could not be issued as the money had already been released and that I needed to file a fraud claim and that it would take up to 10 business days to resolve the claim. It has been over 10 business days and nobody has called me ; my branch manager requested a provisional credit to my account and stated that it was denied by the home office due to the amount of the fraud. I received an email from Wells Fargo on Thursday, XX/XX/XXXX stating that their goal is to provide a resolution on or before XX/XX/2023 ; meanwhile I am unable to operate my business or pay my bills since XX/XX/XXXX due to the {$11000.00} that Wells Fargo allowed to clear my account, even though it was an obvious forgery.

Consumer Complaint: I received a call from XXXX XXXX XXXX. They called from phone number XXXX. They stated that I owe Wells Fargo {$840.00} from several years ago. Informed them that if I didn't pay they would freeze my accounts and prevent me from having another checking account or credit card ever in life. They also threatened to sue me. Somehow they had all of my information. The rep was absolutely rude and I ended up hanging up on them.

Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Consumer Complaint: I have been a wells fargo customer since 2006. I have overpaid in overdraft charges since then. I have called customer service on more than one occasion requesting to remove the overdraft feature from my account. For the past 3 years and they still insist on keeping it on there. Some overdraft charges have been refunded but some have not. I am currently overdrawn {$540.00} in my wells fargo checking account. I am currently between jobs and can not afford to pay over {$300.00} in overdraft charges.

Consumer Complaint: During 2022, I inquired about rolling over my Retirement/IRA accounts to a different bank with my local Wells Fargo bank branch in XXXX, TX. The branch employees gave me some forms to sign for what they said was told was for my retirement rollover. When I was given my 1099-R forms for 2022, I discovered the Wells Fargo ran the transaction as a complete distribution instead of a rollover as I requested. This mistake by Wells Fargo is now causing me to owe a lot of money on my tax return for 2022 and is not what I requested the local branch to do with my retirement money. I am XXXX years old and Wells Fargo did not want to help me at their branch that was closing down, and they did not want to help me when I called their corporate offices to fix this horrible situation. The forms that I signed at my local branch were not explained to me when I signed them. If the Wells Fargo employees had done their job and properly explained the forms, I would not have signed them. I wanted a rollover and not a complete distribution, but Wells Fargo has refused to help me fix the problem.
