Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: About XX/XX/2023 my information from using my card at a gas station was entered into a cell phone. Within 5 minutes a person or persons started on a day long spending spree that spent over {$15000.00}. My card never left my hand. At XXXX the next day I was contacted by Wells Fargo security about some very large transactions being made out of my state. I was on the phone for 45 minutes and the agent said he had turned off my card and a new one would be sent. This was after the card had already been used for many transactions that the fraud department wasn't aware of. He did not turn off the card. Tuesday, I look at my account and find that a person having nothing more than the information on my card talked Wells Fargo bank by telephone into moving almost {$17000.00} from my checking account to my credit card so they could spend more money? This all stopped because Wells was so slow in posting it that the card was overdrawn, and they gave up. I went to my bank branch and my banker made a claim for the {$17000.00} and it was moved back from the credit card to my checking account. Done well. I made a detailed study of my credit card charges and paid each item that was mine. One day before I had a XXXX balance, so it was about XXXX items. All of the rest of the charges were made without my card present and were all reported as fraudulent on the Wells Fargo website. This is where it starts getting stupid. It is obvious to anyone looking at the account what happened. Wells Fargo split the case up and I got paperwork from three different places? I filled out the forms and made the signed statements that they were not my charges. It appeared that all of them were covered, however, by this time I no longer had access to the old card information because they had sent me a new card that was {$5000.00} overdrawn. I sent the letters back, two to XXXX XXXX and one to XXXX XXXX. This week I received another request for one of the ones I had returned. I also have now received two more letters. One, dated XX/XX/XXXX, says they have credited me {$1700.00}. They have not done that and there is no disputed transaction for that amount? The other letter dated XX/XX/XXXX says if I don't contact then in 10 days, they will close the case? I called the number today and after spending XXXX XXXX hours on the phone two persons consulting with other persons could not determine who sent the XX/XX/XXXX letter or why the amount on the XX/XX/XXXX letter was not correct. Nor could they Decide what I should do. I have one more letter that came from XXXX, The XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX dated XXXX. XXXX, that said they had received my fraud complaint, " However, we need more time to complete our research. '' " We'll follow up with you by XXXX ''. XXXX months? Today I called them at the number on the letter. After giving her all of my information, she tells me that she is in the auto fraud department. and transfers me to another number where the girl says that the only person that can talk to me is not available. I have asked that my call be returned at XXXX XXXX XXXX tomorrow. In the meantime, I hope the person in XXXX XXXX doesn't close my case! This is consumer abuse at its best! The really sad thing here is that about XXXX well-meaning businesses will lose that money and XXXX could have stopped it sooner. This will only cost XXXX a couple of stamps and this customer of 50 years.

Consumer Complaint: In being very careful not to duplicate a complaint, this complaint is about a specific issue with this Banking Institution. This complaint is against Wells Fargo, and information uncovered in their response to a CFPB complaint, which was unknown by myself until their response. Through the response : ( 5 ) accounts in my name were listed on the response from Wells Fargo. When I began doing business with Wells Fargo, I opened a Checking Account and a Retirement Savings Account. However there were ( 5 ) accounts listed in my name. Who opened these other ( 3 ) accounts?? I should have ( at this time ) no open accounts with Wells Fargo. And I continue to await my {$8800.00}, which is owed to me by Wells Fargo. How is Wells Fargo allowed to stay in business with all this Fraudulent activity which they are involved in.?? Thus far, costing Wells Fargo 1.7 billion in Civil Penalty and 2 billion in restitution. Where are the Government Oversight Agencies, as this type of activity continues to take place????? And of course, I have no access to these other accounts opened in my name and without my authorization.

Consumer Complaint: On the day of XX/XX/XXXX my wallet was lost and my card was stolen, where {$1200.00} was taken from my account, money which was to pay my rent. When i went to check my account that my card declined, I immediately called my bank on XX/XX/XXXX, made the claim, and it was resolved, I was able to pay my rent, everything was good. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a card in the mail saying the claim was to be deducted from my account, saying the bank determined it was someone approved by me or myself, not even an exact answer, which is money i clearly do not have to spend, and today on XX/XX/XXXX money was sent to my account which was deducted from the negative balance. Now my issue is the bank is not helping and now im in debt, money i needed to pay my car insurance is gone and I cant seem to get anywhere therefore Im contacting the bureau to try and get this situation resolved

Consumer Complaint: I was sent {$90.00} by someone I did not know on XX/XX/XXXX. The same day I sent money to a friend of mine. Before all of this, my friend who I know asked me for my XXXX info, stating that I may receive some money later that day. I was not informed what it was for, who it was going to be from, or how much it was going to be. XX/XX/XXXX, my XXXX account phone number and email were removed from XXXX and restricted so that they could not be used again. When I called and tried to explain my situation to a specialist at Wells Fargo over the phone ( after normal banking hours ) I was met with hostility like I was being interrogated for a crime, and as I was explaining what happened, the call center representative accused me of crime without due process and without even letting me finish my sentences. She refused to let me continue speaking, talking over me and sighing heavily and dramatically. She said I should not be sending money to a business, receiving money on behalf of a business, and that I should let the sender of the money do business without me being involved, essentially accusing me of knowingly engaging in some kind of money laundering or money crime. I was very angry and ended up hanging up the phone. I then learned that my online banking was locked and I no longer had access. This is vexing and caused me a lot of XXXX because I can not afford to not have access to my bank account or my XXXX. I called again, where I was met with a very rude man who also talked over me, would not let me speak, and told me that he was warning me that he would hang up if I did not stop talking, he hung up. I called again. I calmly explained my situation, explained that shutting down access to my account is damaging to me in several ways and that I believe my account access was shut down by the original employee at the call center I spoke with unfairly in retaliation for an offense. I was informed that they can do nothing and that I am being investigated. I told them that I will be pursuing legal action for their mishandling of my account and the damage they are doing to me by accusing me of crimes I did not commit and cutting off my ability to send and receive money via XXXX, which is a payment method I use to pay my bills, unless they restore my account access and my ability to use XXXX to send and receive money.

Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan
Consumer Complaint: I went online XXXX, to get a payoff amount for the car. After getting the amount, {$13000.00}, Wells Fargo erroneously changed the loan to paid off. There was not enough money in my account for that amount. The account shows it posted the entire payoff. The balance is XXXX. Theyre unable to reverse the transaction at this time. I am unable to sell the vehicle due to this error. They stated, after numerous phone calls, it may reverse in XXXX days or I may have to refinance the loan. There have been no clear answers. I have only 7 days to sell the car at the offer that was promised. The cost will continue to decrease daily which means I loose more money.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: In reference to Wells Fargo Account # XXXX On XX/XX/23, I wrote Wells Fargo a letter informing them of their inaccurate reporting of an account on my consumer reports. Wells Fargo is in violation of multiple laws set forth by Congress. 15 U.S. Code 1681a ( 2 ) ( a ) ( i ) states that the consumer report does not include information solely as to transactions or experiences ( payment history, charge off status ), between the consumer ( myself ) and the person ( Wells Fargo ) making the report. Additionally, 15 U.S. Code 1681 s-2 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) states that A person ( Wells Fargo ) shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer ( ME ) to any consumer reporting agency ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ) if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. The IRS Clearly defines a charge off as Gross or Ordinary income, INCOME DOES NOT GET REPORTED ON THE CONSUMER REPORT which in fact makes reporting of this account inaccurate! By Definition, the IRS Clearly says a Cancelled debt or Charge off is Income. The reporting of this account as a debt is inaccurate. I never received a 1099-C from XXXX XXXX for the cancelled debt of {$3700.00} in order to file as ordinary income. Where is my 1099-C Wells Fargo is clearly writing off debt with the IRS without sending out 1099-C as required by the IRS for debts greater than {$600.00}. This is unsatisfactory! Wells Fargo has been HEREBY PUT ON NOTICE that they are furnishing incorrect inaccurate information, and as such I shall also point out their responsibility pursuant 15 U.S. Code section 1681s-2 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( B ) ( ii ) : ( a ) DUTY OF FURNISHERS OF INFORMATION TO PROVIDE ACCURATE INFORMATION 1 ) PROHIBITION ( B ) Reporting information after notice and confirmation of errors A person shall not furnish information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if ( i ) the person has been notified by the consumer, at the address specified by the person for such notices, that specific information is inaccurate ; and ( ii ) the information is, in fact, inaccurate.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: During a foreclose proceeding in XXXX XXXX Kansas against a servicemember ( me ) and his spouse ( Spouse was on deed but not the VA backed mortgage ), the judge ordered an attorney to represent the XXXX XXXX servicemember and his spouse. The attorney told the servicemember and his spouse that he was being provided by the Veterans Administration ( VA ) to represent the VA 's interest in the case and told us he could not give us an legal advice as he wasn't actually representing us. He then entered his appearance as the servicemember 's attorney. The attorney told us that what would be happening is an In Rem Judgement which is against the house and not the borrower and it is basically the same as a Deed in lue of foreclosure and it wouldn't affect our credit or VA backed guaranteed loan benefits because there would not be a judgement against us.. Wells Fargo ( lender ), was granted an In Rem only foreclosure judgement that I was not notified about. Lender claimed amount owed including all fees charged to mortgage, collections, court costs, and cost of attorneys was a little over {$300000.00}. The initial judgement acknowledged the entire amount claimed by lender. The lender received an order giving permission to sell house. Lender supposedly sold the house in a questionable sheriff 's sale that I was not notified of. The sale itself is questionable as the lender sold it to themselves for half of what they claimed was owed which was also half the market value at the time. The lender submitted the sales information to the judge and he approved the sale without notifying my attorney or me. The lender filed a document agreeing to the sheriff 's sale satisfying the entire debt and judgement making it so the balance will be {$0.00}. The court then entered The final order stating that the sale is In Rem Only and the foreclosure is entered against the home only and not against the borrower and the sale satisfies the entire amount owed by me leaving a {$0.00} balance to be paid. The lender then contacted the VA and filed a claim against the servicemember 's VA backed mortgage, claiming that the servicemember still owed them around {$150000.00} and supplied the initial judgement that allowed the house to be sold and the sheriff 's notice of sale that was on the lender 's Attorney 's letterhead, not actually from the Sheriff 's department. The lender did not provide the VA with the final order of the court stating the sale is as agreed to by the lender 's own submitted motion to confirm sheriff 's sale, to be in Rem Only against the house and not the borrower and, also as agreed to in lender 's same motion, completely satisfies the judgement and borrower now owes {$0.00}. The VA gave the lender {$61000.00} that I am required to pay back. I did dispute this with VA when I found out about it less than 2 years ago. The person reviewing all the court documents asked me what right a judge has to determine how much money the borrower still owes on a mortgage after a foreclosure. He had absolutely no idea how courts work. He thinks that only a federal judge can issue a judgement and orders when it involves a VA backed mortgage since VA is a federal government organization. The lender was not entitled to any money beyond the amount of the sale and, against court orders, submitted to and got paid for a non-existent debt by the VA creating a debt owed by the borrower on a mortgage that the lender actually suggested and agreed to and the presiding judge ordered that no remaining borrower debt existed and was not allowed. The judgement states that it is a default judgement against the borrower 's spouse even though that is not allowed by the SCRA and both the borrower and spouse were living in XXXX, Illinois and didn't have the ability to attend the hearings and didn't even know the dates and times for anything involving the case. The lender also reported on the borrower 's credit reports that it was a foreclosure again the borrower even though it was not and the foreclosure specifically states it is not against the borrower.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: My Wells Fargo checking and savings account were fraudulently accessed and drained. My card was not stolen. I was called by someone at Wells Fargo ( their phone number their name on caller id ), I was told my account was being illegally accessed and they were calling to put a stop to it, texted me codes to my cell phone to read back as Wells Fargo always does when verifying account information. After a while I asked for a manager as it was taking too long. I was hung up on and all my money was immediately drained from my accounts. I called back and was told this was a scam and was not in fact well Fargo so I reported fraud and in a week was told they would not refund my money. I got the case re-opened by speaking to the corporate office and was told this was fraud and that " this happens all the time do not to worry. '' A few days later the same person informed me weals Fargo was refueling too refund me and was told its was because it was a device takeover, I then was told its was because of what was purchased ( charges at XXXX, XXXX XXXX, USPS and an atm withdraw in XXXX XXXX, live in and was in XXXX XXXX XXXX at the time of this fraud ) then was told it was because I didn't report it right away ( I reported it immediately ). I have received no logical explanation as to why Wells Fargo does not protect and is refusing to refund money held in their accounts when this was clearly fraud. Total amount taken was {$4500.00}
