Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: This is a follow up on my complaint regarding the reporting of charged-off medical debt on my credit report. I have provided proof that the debt has been settled to a zero-balance and that I am a veteran. These factors suggest that LexisNexis may be required to remove the charged-off medical debt from my credit report. I understand that you have attempted to reach me via email to obtain additional identifiers, but that you have not received a response back. I have attached a copy of my government-issued ID and a bill dated within the last 60 days as proof of my current address. I am writing to you today to request that you take immediate action to remove the charged-off medical debt from my credit report. I am concerned that the continued reporting of this debt is having a negative impact on my credit score. I have attached a copy of my complaint to the CFPB. I am hopeful that you will take this matter seriously and resolve it promptly. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Personal information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Subject : Complaint Regarding Inaccurate Information on My Credit Report by LexisNexis Dear Sir/Madam , I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the inaccurate information that continues to be reported on my credit report by LexisNexis. Despite numerous attempts to rectify the situation through multiple letters, emails, and phone calls, I have not received a satisfactory response or seen any corrections made to my credit report. I have diligently reached out to LexisNexis on several occasions, detailing the specific inaccuracies present on my credit report. In my last phone call to their customer service, a representative acknowledged the issue and assured me that the necessary corrections would be made promptly. However, to my dismay, the inaccurate information persists, and I am deeply concerned about the negative impact it is having on my creditworthiness. Furthermore, it is particularly frustrating that LexisNexis has been unable to communicate with me directly due to the inaccurate information they have on file. This situation has led to a lack of progress and delayed resolution, leaving me in a vulnerable position and unable to exercise my rights as a consumer. I hereby request the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau 's intervention to ensure that LexisNexis promptly addresses my concerns and takes the following actions : 1. Conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the inaccuracies present on my credit report. 2. Verify the accuracy of the disputed information with the relevant data furnishers. 3. Promptly correct and update my credit report to reflect accurate and verified information. 4. Provide me with written confirmation of the corrections made to my credit report. I believe that my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) have been violated, as I have made reasonable efforts to resolve this matter directly with LexisNexis, but they have not taken the necessary actions to rectify the situation. I am attaching copies of the correspondence I have sent to LexisNexis as evidence of my diligent attempts to address this issue and demonstrate my willingness to cooperate. I urge the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against LexisNexis for their failure to comply with the FCRA and their continued reporting of inaccurate information on my credit report. I kindly request that you keep me informed of the progress of your investigation and any steps taken to resolve this matter. Please feel free to contact me at the provided email address or phone number if further information is required. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I look forward to a swift resolution and the removal of the inaccuracies from my credit report. [ Enclosures : Copies of previous letters and emails to LexisNexis ]

Issue: Improper use of your report

Subissue: Reporting company used your report improperly

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to dispute the reporting activities carried out by LexisNexis to credit reporting agencies concerning my personal credit information. It has come to my attention that LexisNexis has been reporting my credit information despite the absence of any contractual agreement or permissible purpose for such reporting. This dispute serves as a formal demand for LexisNexis to immediately cease and desist from reporting any information related to my credit profile to any credit reporting agencies. I want to bring to your attention the following key points that form the basis of my dispute : Lack of Creditor Relationship : At no point in time have I engaged in any creditor-debtor relationship with LexisNexis, nor have I ever entered into a contractual agreement that authorizes LexisNexis to report my credit information to any credit reporting agencies. Absence of Permissible Purpose : The Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), 15 U.S.C. 1681b, clearly states that consumer reporting agencies, such as LexisNexis, may only furnish credit information to third parties with a permissible purpose. To the best of my knowledge, LexisNexis has not obtained any permissible purpose to report my credit information, and as such, any such reporting is in direct violation of the FCRA. Violation of Statute Codes : LexisNexis ' actions are in direct violation of multiple federal and state laws, including but not limited to : a. Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) - 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( a ), b. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) - 15 U.S.C. 1692e, and c. Consumer Financial Protection Act ( CFPA ) - 12 U.S.C. 5481 ( 12 ). Request for Investigation and Compliance : I demand that LexisNexis conduct an immediate investigation into the reporting activities concerning my credit information. Furthermore, I request that you provide documented evidence of any permissible purpose granted to LexisNexis for reporting my credit information to credit reporting agencies. Failure to provide such evidence will be taken as an admission that no permissible purpose exists. Cease and Desist : As per the FCRA and other applicable laws, I demand that LexisNexis immediately cease and desist from reporting any information regarding my credit profile to any credit reporting agencies. Any further reporting without a lawful permissible purpose will be deemed a willful violation of the FCRA and other relevant statutes, subjecting LexisNexis to potential civil and criminal penalties. Confirmation of Compliance : Within 30 days of receipt of this letter, I expect a written response confirming LexisNexis ' compliance with my request. This should include details of the investigation conducted, proof of any permissible purpose, and confirmation of the cessation of reporting to credit reporting agencies. LexisNexis immediately cease and desist from reporting data concerning my consumer credit information and all data concerning my personal social security number to credit reporting agencies. Please be aware that I am keeping a comprehensive record of all communications regarding this matter, and I am prepared to take further legal action if necessary to protect my rights under federal and state laws. I expect a prompt and appropriate response to this dispute letter. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

Issue: Improper use of your report

Subissue: Reporting company used your report improperly

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to dispute the reporting activities carried out by LexisNexis to credit reporting agencies regarding my personal credit information. It has come to my attention that LexisNexis has been reporting my credit information, despite the absence of any contractual agreement or permissible purpose for such reporting. This letter serves as a formal demand for LexisNexis to immediately cease and desist from reporting any information related to my credit profile to any credit reporting agencies. The basis of my dispute includes the following crucial points, which highlight violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ), and the Consumer Financial Protection Act ( CFPA ) : Absence of Creditor Relationship : I want to assert that LexisNexis is not my creditor, nor have I ever entered into any contractual agreement that authorizes LexisNexis to report my credit information to any credit reporting agencies. As such, LexisNexis lacks the legal standing to furnish my credit information under the FCRA, FDCPA, and CFPA. Lack of Permissible Purpose : Pursuant to the FCRA - 15 U.S.C. 1681b, consumer reporting agencies, like LexisNexis, may only furnish credit information to third parties with a permissible purpose. Similarly, the FDCPA - 15 U.S.C. 1692e, requires that any debt collector 's communication with a consumer must be for a lawful purpose. To my knowledge, LexisNexis has not been granted any permissible purpose to report my credit information, thereby rendering any such reporting a violation of the FCRA and FDCPA. Violation of Consumer Financial Protection Act ( CFPA ) : By reporting my credit information without a permissible purpose and lacking any creditor relationship, LexisNexis is also in direct violation of the CFPA - 12 U.S.C. 5481-5603, which safeguards consumers from unauthorized disclosures and ensures the accuracy and fairness of information provided by consumer reporting agencies. Based on the aforementioned violations, I demand that LexisNexis immediately cease and desist from reporting any information regarding my credit profile to any credit reporting agencies, as per the FCRA, FDCPA, and CFPA. Any further reporting without a lawful permissible purpose will be considered a willful violation of these statutes, subjecting LexisNexis to potential civil and criminal penalties. Furthermore, I kindly request that LexisNexis contacts all credit reporting agencies to update the inaccurate and unauthorized credit information that has been previously furnished. This update should reflect the cessation of reporting and the removal of any negative impact on my credit profile. Please be advised that I am keeping a comprehensive record of all communications concerning this matter, and I am prepared to take further legal action if necessary to protect my rights under the FCRA, FDCPA, CFPA, and other relevant statutes. I expect an expeditious and satisfactory resolution to this dispute letter, including the requested credit report update. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
