Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing issue

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I have an opt-out suppression on file with LexisNexis as well as a security freeze. I have been trying to complete a data deletion request with a third party data broker called XXXX, which uses LexisNexis for identity verification. Upon receiving an error message when trying to contact LexisNexis, I obtained a copy of my consumer report and verified that the information is correct. I then contacted both XXXX and LexisNexis regarding the issue. Since it is due to the identity verification, the error is occurring on the end of LexisNexis and not XXXX. After contacting LexisNexis, I lifted my optout suppression ( I opted in ) and temporarily lifted my security freeze. I gave the computer systems ample time to update, but I still obtain errors in identity verification through LexisNexis. I tried to rectify the situation with LexisNexis, but the " XXXX XXXX '' privacy management email eventually stopped responding. Moreover, the representative at XXXX reached out to their internal contact at LexisNexis and did not hear back after weeks. I have spoken to LexisNexis on the phone multiple times and they just say to lift the security freeze, opt-in, and wait, which I have done multiple times. XXXX does not use manual verification, so LexisNexis can not punt the ball to the other company as the identity verification is the responsibility of LexisNexis. XXXX did indicate that they MAY do a conference call to verify identity.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information is missing that should be on the report

Consumer Complaint: In purchasing a new house with a new mortgage, I applied for and received homeowner 's insurance from XXXX XXXX, through an agent. I believed the premium was too high, but was told it was the best on offer, so I consented to the policy ( XXXX, XXXX ). I did not receive any written communication from the insurance company and paid the insurance premium during closing on the new house on XX/XX/XXXX. There was a delayed possession of the house because the original owners were not ready to move out, so they have rented the house from me ( and my wife, joint ) until XX/XX/XXXX. My mail was sent to that house and a neighbor collected it for me, so I did not see any mail from XXXX until XX/XX/XXXX. The letter provoking this complaint was postmarked XX/XX/XXXX and dated XX/XX/XXXX. It was postmarked from zip code XXXX ( Iowa ). Included in the very large packet of insurance information was a letter informing me of an adverse action based on erroneous credit reporting by LexisNexis, a company I have had no contact with at any point. The specific adverse action is, '' Based on consumer report data, the premium you were offered was not the lowest available fo the program applicable to your policy. '' The specific reasons were listed as 4 codes ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ), all of which were either " insufficient information '' or erroneous. No attempt was ever made to contact me or my wife about these issues, other than this innocuous looking letter we received months after the adverse action. I immediately contacted my agent, who informed me he had no knowledge of this as he was restricted by privacy laws from receiving this kind of credit information. I then called the number for LexisNexis Consumer Center ( XXXX ) and listened to a fully automated set of instructions on how to obtain my credit report. There was no option to file a dispute, other than asking for my " NCF Reference #. '' This kind of bureaucratic run-around which takes much time and effort ( which my wife and I can not afford ) leaves me feeling there is no hope to get my rights respected and my credit restored to what it should be. I am being penalized by paying excessive premiums, and my agent informed me that switching insurance companies would make no difference as they all use LexisNexis. Another possibly relevant fact is that there was a massive security breech involving the S.C. Department of Revenue in XXXX, and I was advised by many experts to " freeze '' all access to credit reporting from the major agencies ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ) which we have done and continue to do. This may be a reason LexisNexis had inaccurate information. It is not, however, an excuse.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: I've been disputing fraud accounts on my credit report since XX/XX/2020. I keep sending multiple sets of letters to the bureaus and the creditors so the excuse of " we didn't get it '' doesn't happen. Furthermore, each letter is certified mail with tracking and each letter shows signed and delivered and yet the bureaus are still not taking any actions. The accounts are not showing in dispute nor are they removed from my report. The accounts always show up with different name variations and different account number variations and yet the bureaus seem to ignore the trend and let these fraud accounts affect my credit score. I have requested the investigation to be initiated and also verifiable proof to be submitted should the account claim to be mine. Not only have I not received any mail showing the verifiable proofs needed to justify the accounts to be on my report, I haven't even received any letters at all stating the investigations have begun. Per the FCRA and federal law, the process is supposed to be 30 days. 250 days later, I'm still here shelling out money for certified mail with no end in sight and no results to show. This is my last option before I take this up with my lawyers and sue for full compensations and damages incurred. Finally, it seems that when these complaints are submitted, the bureaus are using the excuse that they " can't confirm my identity '' to get away with taking no actions on my credit report. Please investigate this as well.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Was not notified of investigation status or results

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, the attached dispute was sent to LexisNexis. USPS receipts indicate the dispute was delivered on XX/XX/2021. To date, no response has been received from LexisNexis. Despite this, the public record in question remains on my 3 major credit reports and LexisNexis report. I have attempted to dispute the record in question with the credit reporting agencies ( XXXX XXXX, and XXXX ), however they have stated in writing on several occasions that they were able to verify the record despite my LexisNexis report being frozen at the time. This would also mean LexisNexis continues to provide my information despite the freeze existing which supposedly legally bars them from doing so.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX reports were filed for identity theft with FTC. On XXXX I sent the identity theft reports along with affidavit and letter regarding the inaccurate and unknown things on my credit report. I have received certified mail return receipts that confirm the agency received the identity theft reports. To this day over 30 days later the inaccuracies have not been corrected as of yet on my credit report. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and being ignored of my disputes. These agencies are in violation of 15 U.S.C. 1692g. They were to notify me of this in writing 5 days prior, I was not. As the original creditor, only I can validate this debt. I do not validate this debt. Therefore, the accounts and inquiries stated must be deleted from my report. I demand these accounts be deleted immediately or I will file for litigation due to the stress you caused me. My information was also impacted by the XXXX Data Breach and may have landed into the hands of the wrong person.
