Issue: Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: A few years ago I stopped paying my XXXX XXXX XXXX phone bill because my significant other stopped paying his half and I could n't afford to pay both. Eventually, I called and talked with a representative to see if I could make payments to pay it off ( since I was young and knew good credit is essential ). She told me I could n't make payments to them it would have to be the full amount and I expressed that I could n't afford it. So she asked me did I want her to go ahead and send it to a debt collector so that I could start making payment with them since that 's why I was calling in the first place and I replied yes. Months later I was contacted by a debt collecting agency. They sent me a letter in the mail I was n't surprised because this is what the representative told me would happen. So I called the number listed and we came up with a amount I could pay back and a payment plan where I pay {$75.00} until it was paid off which I did last year. I paid {$110.00} on XXXX/XXXX/15 and every month after that {$75.00} would automatically be taken out of my account. That was the agreement until it was completely paid off. Once it was paid in full ... .they stopped taking the money out of my account and I received my last letter from them saying it was paid and never heard anything about this debt again. Until recently I received another letter for the same exact debt which later popped up on my credit report. I still have a few letters from the debt company that contacted me and bank statements.

Consumer Complaint: ***IC SYSTEMS IS INEPT- THEY MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO CONSUMERS*** IC Systems continues to report a debt that was paid years ago. I have called more than 10 times in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX to have it sorted out but THEY CAN NOT FIND ME IN THEIR SYSTEM even using my full name SS number, past XXXX addresses etc. Yet, they continue to report this to the credit bureau. They do n't call or write letters- I only see it on my credit report and then I call them. I asked them what are we to do in this situation as it 's not fair to continue reporting it if IC Systems ca n't find it in their system to even discuss with me! When I call- they all say the same thing- sorry I ca n't help you, we can not find you in our system! And yet they are reporting every month to the credit bureau. I informed them I would have my lawyer take it from here but it seems very unfair the burden and expense is on me for doing so. I do n't know how else I can force them to get this corrected and hold them accountable for this error and the time, energy and effort I 've had to put into sorting it out. Not to mention the effect it 's had on my credit score and likely the interest rates I 've been on offered on my mortgage for example. IC Systems should n't be allowed to give consumers the run around like this and punish us for their ineptness. # #

Consumer Complaint: As of today, XXXX XXXX, 2016 I pulled my credit with XXXX and noticed that a new collection has been placed on my account. I also noticed that this was under a name and address not associated with me. I have recently, as of XXXX XXXX filed multiple complaints with the CFPB, FTC and all three ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ) concerning identity theft. I also understand that the original creditor is XXXX XXXX XXXX, to which I have never had an account. My wife and I have always split our utilities and she has always had XXXX XXXX XXXX in her name. Even so, her name as is mine, is not similar to the name being reported on my credit report. This needs to be removed immediately because this is indicative of identity theft.

Consumer Complaint: On the XX/XX/XXXX I closed my XXXX account for DSL internet due to moving to XXXX to change XXXX. About a month after we canceled our service we called to make sure that our internet account was closed/Free and clear as well as our other utilities/services. We were notified that our account was closed with a XXXX balance. Shortly after that we received a bill for XXXX dollars and I called XXXX to see what the charges were for and the gentleman from customer service reviewed the account and informed us that they had made and error and we were actually owed XXXX. After that I received an account summary detailing the closure of the account showing a XXXX credit. The day after I received a bill for XXXX dollars along with a collection notice from IC Systems. I called XXXX again talking with various offices customer service, account management, etc. and no one could explain the bill or the debt collection. I then called IC Systems and asked about the debt and how to resolve it. Seems that there was no way for XXXX to remove the collection notice and that I would have to dispute the charge and wait for review. I ended up paying the debt collector in hopes that XXXX error will not affect my credit. I plan on disputing the charge with letter to IC systems but do not have much faith in any resolution with XXXX. I can not tell you the time I dedicate to keeping my finances in order and have never been late on a bill. It is very embarrassing to receive a collection notice. Through some research on I have found huge amounts of complaints about XXXX for the exact same situation. Furthermore please take note to the account numbers on both the Account Summary, and the Bill that I was sent. They do not match between the two invoices, but in XXXX system both numbers associate with the same account. Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated we are in the process of closing on a house and this concerns me greatly that it will affect the closing in a negative way despite my stellar credit. Its very frustrating how willing they are to sell you services, but when your done they cant help at all. Thank you, below is the contact information for both companies involved. I want this debt and address removed from my credit report immediately.

Consumer Complaint: Closed our account with XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. They continued to automatically charge my credit card on file for an additional months bill in XX/XX/XXXX. I called/online chat with them numerous times and was told the money would be credited back when a final bill was issued. I have yet to receive this final bill. I filed a dispute with my CC to protect myself. XXXX tried to claim I owe them this money, after their agents have told me thru repeated conversations ( see attached ) that they would clear up issue and that I did not in fact owe any money ( since it was monies they had over charged me ). Despite continued correspondence with XXXX several times a month since XX/XX/XXXX, they continue to refer me to their 3rd party collection companies. First with XXXX XXXX XXXX, which, after numerous emails to them including copies of XXXX chats, I finally filed a claim with CFPB ( XXXX ) that helped get resolution with XXXX and I thought with XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX, I received a new letter from a different collection company, IC System. I contacted this company by phone and was told that I could not submit proof that XXXX had cleared the matter by email, that I would have to send by mail. I noted I would submit a claim on CFPB. About 1 week later, I gave birth to my XXXX child. I had not heard back from the Creditor, so I hoped it had been cleared by XXXX and there had just been time lag, since I have received nothing but the first letter from IC System. I just checked my credit score ( XXXX XXXX, XXXX ) thru my credit card and have a debt collector issue. IC System and XXXX are the only possibility. I have not been negligent, I have contacted XXXX, XXXX, and IC System at every step of the way as possible. I continue to be told by XXXX that the issue has been resolved and no debt is due by XXXX, only to find out later by written mail that they have escalated the claim to different Debt Collectors. At this point I feel XXXX is harassing me and has cost me hours of my time and much distress in trying to clear up the issue. I do n't know what to do to get them to keep their promises and clear up the Account. I can not continue to waste time corresponding with them, when they tell me one thing and do the opposite. Can you help me to get ATT to keep their word and stop harassing me for debt ( {$120.00} at this point ) that they already promised me was resolved? Thank you
