Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Consumer Complaint: Equifax refuses to take responsibliity for what they are doing wrong. The companies reporting to Equifax are not the problem. Equifax is the problem. Nothing of any consequence has changed on my credit history to warrant lowering my credit score from XXXX to XXXX. A response that only includes swiping generalizations doesn't many anything. They can't give me a specific reason for lowering my score because they are not willing to admit they are wrong.

Issue: Credit monitoring or identity theft protection services
Subissue: Problem with product or service terms changing
Consumer Complaint: There is something very suspicious going on at Equifax. Please investigate!!! I am a victim of identity fraud and some fraud group has my personal data. Due to the fraudster obtaining my Equifax information, I've been getting multiple letters in the mail from creditors who are telling me via mail that they are 'unable ' to approve my credit card application since ( 1 ) I have freeze with other credit bureaus ( 2 ) unable to verify identity. In Equifax, there are up to XXXX inquiries related to the fraudster trying to open new credit card under my name. On a daily basis, I am playing cat and mouse as the fraudster is using the Equifax 'automated service ' to unfreeze my credit report. I log into my account multiple times/ day to check if my credit is frozen but often times it is revered by the fraudster ( using the automated process via phone ). This is a new complaint but it is related to my original complaint XXXX '. I was on the phone with Equifax for over an hour and a half today ( XX/XX/2023 ), and they couldn't resolve this issue. Equifax rep is saying that the fraudster can use only personal data in the Equifax ' 'automated service ' to unfreeze the credit report. This is process available for everyone and they can't just shut it off for me. I don't understand how other countless ID theft victims don't have this same/ similar issue. I would highly appreciate if the CFPB can look into this mishap in their control and investigate with great intent. I don't want to say it's an inside job but I am also uneasy that the Equifax reps ask for your entire personal information including social security #, address, email, phone number when you call in to inquiry about any issues. I am losing sleep over this matter and the fraudster will eventually/potentially open a false account XXXX day. PLEASE HELP!

Issue: Improper use of your report
Subissue: Reporting company used your report improperly
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of serious concern regarding my personal information and credit report, which involves violations of MULTIPLE provisions of the United States Code specifically, 15 USC 1681b, 15 USC 1681a, 15 USC 6801, 15 USC 6802, and the GLB Act. I am also referencing the potential penalties outlined in 15 USC 1681n. It has come to my attention that my credit report contains transactions and experiences that not only are NOT allowed in the report, but that were submitted without my written authorization. Equifax is a for-profit company, and while you are regulated by the law, you are not a government entity. You are getting paid to collect and store NPI ( non-public personal information ) which is racketeering and identity theft. I have NOT authorized Equifax to collect any information on behalf of my estate, XXXX XXXX XXXX. Please furnish any agreement stating otherwise. XXXX, as defined by XXXX XXXX states, a pattern of illegal activity carried out as part of an enterprise that is owned or controlled by those engaged in the illegal activity. Having a subscription or a fee to obtain NPI to be used in any manner unauthorized by the man or woman is illegal. You are a non-affiliated third party who then provides information to another non affiliated third party. Section 502 ( c ) of the GLB Act strictly limits the reuse of information, that of which you are again in clear violation of. 15 USC 1681a emphasizes the importance of maintaining accurate and up-to-date credit information to promote fair lending practices and protect consumers ' rights. INCORRECT SPELLING OF MY NAME, ADDRESS, CHARGED OFF ACCOUNTS, LATE PAYMENTS, AND MUTIPLE HARD AND SOFT INQUIRIES. I did NOT complete a Social Security Administration Form 3288 ( SSA-3288 ), which is required for permissible purpose under FCRA. This raises serious concerns about the legitimacy of the information reported, as well as the adherence to privacy regulations. Any violation of this act can result in severe penalties under 15 USC 1681n, which includes statutory damages. Invoice is attached. Given the circumstances, I kindly request the following actions to be taken : 1. **Removal of ALL Late Payments** 2. **Removal of all hard and soft inquiries** 3. **All addresses removed from my report except one which is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 4. ** All student loans removed from my report** 5. **All accounts updated to paid as agreed** : I demand that the late payment entry on my credit report by all and any company on my credit report be promptly removed, as it appears to have been reported without proper adherence to the FCRA requirements.
