Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Information belongs to someone else
Consumer Complaint: After receiving a copy of my monthly consumer report I've noticed information that's inaccurate and doesn't belong to me. I reached out to Equifax asking them to investigate this information and accounts in which they didn't. I have accounts reporting that never had my consent to report in the first place. They say that I owe a debt but how can a debt occur if there was never a mutual agreement that took place? There was never a balance agreed to pay for a debt to occur. I believe that it is Equifax duty to ensure the maximum accuracy possible. They must do what's fair and equitable for the consumer. I am aware that I have a right to privacy in which that right was violated. By reporting this inaccurate information, my credit score is being negatively impacted which limits my ability to obtain relationships with potential lenders and institutions. Numerous violations are being reported. Violations committed by Equifax : 15 U.S. Code 1681b - Permissible purposes of consumer reports 15 U.S. Code 1681 - Congressional findings and statement of purpose 15 U.S. Code 1681e - Compliance procedures 15 U.S. Code 6802 - Obligations with respect to disclosures of personal information
