Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I received notice from a credit monitoring service that a collection had been added to my credit reports. I was completely unaware of the alleged debt that was originally owed to XXXX XXXX and was from a debt that is substantially past the statute of limitations in my state ( from XXXX ). The amount they claim is due is {$160.00}. I never received ANY communication from them by phone or in writing stating that I owed this debt. They just " parked '' this debt on my credit reports probably hoping I would respond. After a phone call from my husband ( I have never spoken with them in any form, and I never gave them permission to speak with my husband on my behalf, although I did hear some of the conversation, since I was in the room when he called ), they mailed me a letter ( attached ) dated XX/XX/XXXX which stated I have 30 days to dispute the debt ( a " dunning letter '' I believe ). Ironically, the dunning letter states " Your Response is Requested. '' I thought I had to be given the opportunity to respond BEFORE they report it to the credit bureaus. They also sent a " debt verification '' letter ( attached ) dated XX/XX/XXXX with a computer printout from XXXX XXXX from XXXX. Ironically their Dunning Letter states : " The records of XXXX XXXX show that your balance of {$160.00} is due in full. '' However, the debt verification printout from XXXX that they provided shows a XXXX balance ( attached ). When they spoke with my husband, he SPECIFICALLY asked them who owned this debt. They claimed XXXX owned the debt, and they were collecting on behalf of XXXX. Upon calling XXXX directly, I learned that they ( XXXX ) had sold the debt. XXXX would not give me the date ( which the do n't have to, but the debt collector is supposed to if asked ). Upon receiving their " Dunning Letter '' and " Verification Letter '', I also immediately noticed that the first name on the account was not my legal name, but a nickname. I highly doubt I ever opened an account using a nickname, which begs the question how it ended up on my credit reports at all. This company apparently has a reputation for bad business practices ( according to a number of sources ). I have SPOTLESS credit, and I do not avoid paying legitimate debts when they are presented. But parking an old debt on my credit reports while being less than truthful regarding how they acquired the debt and not giving me the opportunity to research and respond BEFORE they report it to credit bureaus is at best a bad business practice and at worst a violation of my rights under the FCRA and/or the FDCPA. I did send them a validation of debt request letter ( attached ) which they signed for onXX/XX/XXXX. They also claim on my credit reports that the debt was reported on XX/XX/XXXX. I can prove this debt was not reported to any of the credit reporting agencies as ofXX/XX/XXXX. It started reporting on XX/XX/XXXX, the day I received the credit monitoring notice.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, 2017, XXXX XXXX, XXXX placed a collection account on my XXXX and XXXX credit report. The account is from XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$410.00}. I disputed this same account approximately 4-6 months ago as not being liable for the account due to fraud. The account was removed via my dispute but has now been sent back to XXXX and XXXX credit reporting agencies and placed on my reports once again. I 've attempted to dispute with the credit bureaus, but have not heard anything as of yet. This is week 3 without a response. I am asking for your help. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: Had a XXXX account in college, around XXXX, it went to collections on/around XXXX. I had an original debt collector reach out to me in that same time frame. It was removed from my credit report in XXXX/XXXX. Now, I see I have a collection from Convergent Resources , INC . I have reached out to the company that controls the debt, Convergent Resources, INC, regarding a ten year old cell phone debt. I disputed this account with XXXX ( Case # XXXX ) in XXXX of XXXX, and in XXXX it was Removed from my XXXX report for accuracy and statue of limitations, but still shows on my XXXX Report. I called Convergent in XXXX/XXXX to inform them of this, the gentleman I spoke to says it shows that I disputed the account but he could n't do anymore. I informed him that I had disputed with XXXX and gotten it removed, he said he annotate that in my file, but that he could not remove it from my record. I told him I would submit a complaint to the BBB if no further action was taken, but I hoped because I had it taken care of easily with XXXX that it would be a quick fix. As of XXXX XXXX, the debt still shows on my XXXX CR.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: A company called XXXX XXXX XXXX. keeps calling my number looking for someone other than myself. I 've told them repeatly they have the wrong number. Even after they said they were removing my number they call again. Even bereating me if I know of a person named XXXX XXXX who they 're trying to reach. Very unprofessional hangs up in my face and cuts the call short without offering a solution. You get no where with this company to resolve matters. Was called on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX. I was n't able to answer the call that day. Was called on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX. Answered the call said I was n't the person looking for. Was called on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX. Told them I was n't the person, lady said she would remove my number. Was called on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX. Advised them that last time they called me someone was supposed to remove my number. Representative said she could n't help me and ca n't remove it and bereated me about knowing XXXX XXXX. Then hung up on me. On XX/XX/XXXX I called the number back spoke to a man representative who said could n't help me unless I gave him my number but he would n't tell me his company name or who he was or company he was calling from. I asked speak to supervisor but ended up getting a regular collection person who did n't know what was going on. He just transfered my call to her line. This lady did try to help me but could n't and did apologize for the other rude representatives. She stated it was there policy that they needed my number to remove it. She also told me the company name and where she was calling from. I advised them that I do not give my number out to just someone who calls me on the phone especially when I do n't know them and they have these kinds of practices because of scams and other fraudalent things.
