Consumer Complaint: Initially I thought this item was a result of unauthorized use because I knew I did not have a balance with the company. After reviewing the documents they sent for validation, I now have a better understanding of how the account was handled. I placed an order to XXXX and the original order was sent to the wrong address. The company said they would resend the items to my mother ( they were two of five gifts I sent her. ) Months later, I asked my mother why she never wore the dress and hat I sent she said she never received the items from XXXX. I contacted the company directly and informed them that she never received the items, requested a refund of the payments I made, and that the account be closed. I assumed my wishes were honored. Now I see that they were not.

Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by XXXX XXXX regarding an alleged debt owed to XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/2012. Convergent is the sixth collection agency to attempt to collect the debt. The debt is not mine and all other collection agencies, in addition to the original creditor, have been informed that the debt is not mine. I sent a debt validation letter to Convergent requesting proof that the debt was mine. They sent me a letter stating that the debt was valid along with a bill from the account on which the debt is owed. The account was not mine and, again, the debt associated with the account is not mine. I called Convergent on the phone and let them know that what they sent me was no verification at all of a debt owed. They informed me that they would send documentation with my signature proving that the debt was owed. This was weeks ago. Convergent, through inaction, has refused to appropriately validate the debt. Additionally, it should be noted that the alleged debt first became past due in XX/XX/2012. According to Florida law, the debt is time barred due to the statue of limitations.

Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: XXXX and Convergent Collection agency have filed false and inaccurate information about an alleged collection account on my credit report. I closed my account with XXXX in XXXX, having always paid my account in full, purchased my devices outright and having no further obligations or being subject to any Early Termination Fees ( ETFs ). When I requested that XXXX port my numbers to my new carrier, they initially refused to do so and claimed I owed ETFs. After scores of hours of phone calls, emails and faxing a copy of my contract to XXXXXXXX XXXX customer service and managers -- all over a several week period ; I finally filed complaints with WA State AG, FTC and BBB. Within days of my complaints, XXXX wrote to apologize for their " error '' and confirmed that I owed them nothing. They allowed the porting of our numbers to our new carrier, as required by law. I thought that was the end of it, until last week when I requested a copy of my credit report following the security breach at Equifax. It appears XXXX sold the non-existent debt to Convergent Debt Collectors, which then took the liberty of changing the date of last activity on the account from XXXX to XXXX. I believe Convergent has intentionally and knowingly filed a false and inaccurate report on my credit files ; the only negative item on an otherwise stellar credit report. Not only do they XXXX and XXXX XXXX know this is a non-existent debt, they have changed the date to XXXX in order to make it appear like a recent activity and have the maximum derogatory impact on my credit report ( which has typically been above XXXX as I am meticulous about paying all my bill on time ). This is not only damaging and infuriating, it has taken a substantial amount of my time and I am particularly disappointed in XXXX ( Convergent appears to be a bottom-feeder collection agency, so the expectations are substantially lower ).

Consumer Complaint: I closed my account with XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, I paid all that was owed and received confirmation of my account being left in XXXX both for services or installment plans after my payment of {$74.00} dated XX/XX/XXXX. I received a collection letter dated XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX. stating the following : Creditor : XXXX, XXXX Client Account # XXXX Convergent Account # XXXX Amount Owed : {$250.00} After receipt of letter I went to the XXXX store on XX/XX/XXXX and was contacted with costumer service XXXX XXXX EID XXXX who said he could not provide information on my account, that I needed to contact the collector for information on the amount owed. Same was told by the store clerk. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted the Collector XXXX XXXX XXXX, who told me that they could not provide information on my account other than the amount owed, in addition they failed to identify themselves. I have sent a letter to the collector disputing their harassment and the debt. It is very unfortunate and illegal the manner in which this companies act. No one provides information, not only this they fail to provide anything in writing. It is as if the strategy is to force the consumer to give up and pay an unlawful debt.
