Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, a debt collect agency, specifically Convergent Outsourcing, placed a collection on my credit report in the amount of {$980.00}. I immediately called Convergent and was informed by Convergent that the debt was not in my name, XXXX XXXX, but instead was listed under XXXX XXXX. Convergent initially refused to discuss the debt with me stating, 'the debt is not in your name, therefore we can not discuss someone else 's debt. ' I explained to the Convergent rep that I'd been a victim of identity theft and demanded the immediate removal of the account from my credit report. After demanding to speak with management, I was transferred to XXXX XXXX. XXXX requested a copy of my Identification and social security card stating she needed it to clear the debt from my credit report. I sent XXXX the documents requested. XXXX then, without my permission, shared my identifying NON PUBLIC information ( photo ID and social security number ) with the original creditor. Several days later I received an emailed letter from Convergent Outsourcing, under the name XXXX XXXX. The letter stated that the collection would be removed from my credit report and it was removed days later. Consequently, Convergent Outsourcing has since indulged in DECEPTIVE TRADE practices by attempting to use the identifying information requested from me to place the illegal account, which does not belong to me back on my credit report. It is well settled that Convergent Outsourcing did not have in their possession adequate or accurate information to place a delinquent account on my credit report and after being informed the information they had on file did not match my identifying information, Convergent participated in fraud by obtaining my identifying information, sharing it with an unknown creditor and attempting match the or transpose the identifying information which would facilitate Convergent in willfully and fraudulently placing the fraudulent account back on my credit report

Consumer Complaint: the original amount was {$190.00} which was charged on XX/XX/XXXX i requested a fraud alert on my bank account because i didn't know where that money was being pulled out from then i received a call from the debt collector saying the amount was doubled the original amount plus the money the bank " took from them '' which was mine since it was taken out of my account first, once i knew why the money was being taken i cancelled the fraud but i keep receiving constant calls saying the amount due to pay is {$390.00}. other than that when i cancelled the fraud the balance of {$190.00} was payed in full it shows in my credit score that it has been payed but the debt collector still harassing me through constant phone calls when the debt has been payed in full already. also when i spoke to the agent collecting the debt they told me the collection charge was going to be lifted which haven't done since XXXX because they keep saying the balance due is over {$300.00} should I filled a lawsuit against the XXXX? what should I do?
