Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 Convergent OutsourcinXXXX sent me a letter saying that I owe {$150.00}, which originated from XXXX ( tv, phone, etc. ). I have never had an Optimum account in my life. My father ( same name, different middle name ) has, and he and I confirmed that the XXXX account number matched his old account. However, Convergent refuses to transfer the debt to my father 's name/Social Security number. They say it was reported under my Social Security number, so I am responsible for it. Neither he or I have a problem paying it, just to make it go away, but I'm afraid that if I pay it on his behalf, it will show negatively on my credit report for 7 years. I'd prefer that Convergent and XXXX take responsibility for their mistake and make a correction immediately. Neither of them are owning up to the mistake or offering a solution.

Consumer Complaint: I received a collection letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2021. This letter was dated XX/XX/2021. It claims it is an amount owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX which I never received a bill for this amount. I closed my account with XXXXe on XX/XX/2021, and never received a final bill from them. The first bill I am receiving is this collection letter, which has no detail as to what the charges are for. Upon attempting to contact XXXX, I was told that I no longer have access to information on my account, due to it being closed. I do not believe this collection notice is justified nor legitimate, as XXXX has made no attempt to inform me of these charges.

Consumer Complaint: My original debt is with XXXX. They charged me unwarranted early termination fees when I moved from MI to XXXX in 2018. I stayed in an XXXX until I purchased my home XX/XX/2018 at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX SC XXXX. XXXX did not service my area. I've tried to dispute these charges and they sent the balance to collections ; Convergent Outsourcing , Inc.. I have contacted XXXX to try and pay the balance and was unable because it's sent to collections. I was told to contact Convergent Outsourcing Inc, I did and they are a credit repair company that will only allow me to pay {$190.00} now to remove the collections from my credit reports PLUS {$99.00} per month of service for a 3 month minimum. This is not okay, I do not need their services. XXXX should not have charged me early termination fees until I was at a permanent address allowing me an opportunity to start services at the new address. Because XXXX didn't offer service in my area these charges should be removed. I should not be forced to pay for credit repair services of almost {$500.00} in order to remove the collection of {$290.00} from my credit report. This should be illegal.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 Covergent Outsourcing added a derogatory mark on my credit report per XXXX XXXX & XXXX. Upon, further research this account was transferred/sold and I am no longer responsible for the account. Debtor 's creditor did not verify this collection also there was no written form of communication, contract or written signature for this accused debt. A bill without a written signature does not validate the debt and anybody can send a bill and say that it belongs to me. According to the FCRA XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has violated my rights as a consumer and I am requesting legal action to remove this account immediately.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I had used XXXX phone number between XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I was valuable customer and paid all the bills on time. Before cancelling the service, i contacted with one of the representatives and requested to cancel my service and made sure everything was fine at that time. Then after cancelling my service, until now i have received bills to pay and now even collection company named XXXX XXXX XXXX has still been calling me to pay for the service of XX/XX/XXXX. At that time i had already cancelled my service with the company and did not even use one day of service. I tried to explain that i had already cancelled when the collection company called me but they just told me to pay money for the service I did not get. I tried to contact with XXXX company to figure out whats going on and they asked me to pay different amount of money for different duration of billing period than collection company. Therefore, I can verify that I am still receiving bills from XXXX company even though I stopped service over a year ago. This XXXX company gave my information to another debt collection company besides this one too. I have email from that company. Please help me figure out what is happening. Thank you so much for your time and consideration
