Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't temporarily delay making payments

Consumer Complaint: I contacted AES about the cares act temporary forbearance of payments. My loan is a federal loan that was apparently sold to a private servicer. I was told they are exempt from having to comply with the CARES act. I attended XXXX University and have huge student debt. Because of it. I dont understand how a loan private servicer who is handling a federal loan can refuse to comply with CARES

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection : Fedloan refuses to accept, the US Dept of Veterans Affairs as a 'qualifying employer ' for purpose of Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program . For the past 12 years, Fedloan has contracted with the US government to manage my federal Direct Loan/student loans that I accumulated to become a XXXX XXXX XXXX ; and for the past 10 years, I have an agreement with Fedloan, while working in Public Service, my monthly student loan payments will go toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness after I have made 120 qualifying monthly payments ( I have made about 90 or so ) under the qualifying repayment ( IBR ) plan, while I am working XXXX for a qualifying employer. Prior to, and since XXXX until current with no break of service I have worked for the XXXX XXXX as a full-time XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, as a XXXX XXXX, serving XXXX XXXX soldiers, dependents and Veterans with the US Dept of Defense/US Army ( DoD ), and the US Dept of Veterans Affairs, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). Since XX/XX/XXXX, Fedloan has refused to certify the 'VHA ' as a qualifying employer, having left my monthly payments made toward Public Service Loan forgiveness in limbo. I have received letters from Fedloan, unsigned, unnamed, no contact information other than Call Center. Calls to anonymous Fedloan Call Center maze have been going no where, all of the agents declining to refer my calls to a Supervisor or Manager. I will be grateful if you assist in facilitating the Fedloan 's understanding, that mental health professionals and practitioners working for the XXXX XXXX XXXX the mentally ill, is a Public Service - it pays less than working in private practice, and I work in the desert of XXXX XXXX where there is an enormous shortage of mental health providers and low quality of life ; Fedloan 's refusal to act in good faith and capriciously refusing to accept my current employer as a bona fide 'qualifying employer ' is a Public Disservice. Thank you for your time, sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have student loans that qualify for PSLF. My initial servicer was XXXX but they are now managed by FedLoans. Initially XXXX and, since the transfer, FedLoans have always presented me with a minimum payment due that was one sum to cover the minimum payment for all my loans. Every time I made a payment it was at least for that amount. Despite this, when I review my PSLF status I see that many of my loans have different numbers of qualifying payments. This should not be the case because I never made payments to some loans but not others. Some of my on time payments were also considered not on time after they were transferred de XXXX to FedLoans. I made a payment inquiry to XXXX and they initially refused to give it to me saying they sent it to FedLoans until I stated that they were servicing my loans making me their customer not FedLoans. They did give me some payment information but it does not show the actual dates for many of the payments causing concern that XXXX did not actually track them accurately and thus FedLoans has an inaccurate count. XXXX should provide a record with exact dates payments were made. They should be held accountable if the minimum payment I made wasnt distributed to the individual loans appropriately.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I had been waiting for review of several of my payments that were finally marked " eligible '' after over a year of waiting for them to review them. Once they did review and mark the payments " eligible, '' I have XXXX XXXX and now more ) payments out of thXXXX XXXX needed for forgiveness as of XXXX of 2020. I submitted my application for public service loan forgiveness immediately after receiving this information from Fed Loan. I have heard nothing from them, nor have I received any documents. I called and asked the status of my application. The agent stated that my application had been approved for forgiveness and now it will take 4-6 months to have them officially discharge the debt. The agent could not give me much information aside from saying it would be 6 months for Federal Student Aid to " officially process the forgiven loan. '' This is absurd as I have worked well over 10 years in public service, paying my student debt and continue to have to wait for this company to do their job and obligations under my loan. And now that I am eligible and even APPROVED for forgiveness, it will take another 6 months!?!?!? Furthermore, there is NO ONE I can contact or speak to about my loan forgiveness at the Federal Student Aid facility, so I am not able to actually check the status of my loan forgiveness.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: My student loans have been in forbearance prior to the pandemic, however Fed Loan Servicing has been reporting that I have been 120 days late from the period of XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX. I also went through a similar experience while I was unemployed with them also reporting that I was 120 days late in XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: FEDLOAN SERVICING ***** Opened XX/XX/XXXX Balance {$3800.00} FEDLOAN SERVICING ***** Opened XX/XX/XXXX Balance {$3300.00} FEDLOAN SERVICING ***** Opened XX/XX/XXXX Balance {$7500.00} FEDLOAN SERVICING ***** Opened XX/XX/XXXX Balance {$2200.00} I'm just concerned with the certainty and precision from your current inspection together with the missed payments meant for this particular account and also how it is reporting on my credit report. Around 45 days ago I demanded an investigation on the grounds that I noticed the item is just not being recorded recently. To my shock, I have gotten a notice mentioning that your examination was achieved and that the item had been " tested as reliable. Within Section 1681 ( g ) please make sure to generate me along with a brief description of the process utilized to validate the account is " reliable '' and give me the name and addresses of persons asked in every rule found in the FCRA.
