Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: We had an interest only loan in XXXX and the loan principal was due in XXXX. We got further behind on our bills. We were told to stop making payments in XXXX to get a possible modification on our loan after filling out numerous applications and being denied. We were forced to file bankruptcy because we got so deep in debt during this time. Our bankruptcy required us to make our mortgage payments to Wells Fargo during the repayment process. We made payments every month in the amount of {$1900.00} as part of our XXXX XXXX for 5 years. During that time we were told to keep trying to the modification process. We did exactly that. Once they actually foreclosed on our home which was illegal at that time. It got reversed. At the end of our bankruptcy we had gotten strung along with the modification process. We were forced to short sell our house. During this process, we found out Wells Fargo closed our home loan in XXXX when we filed bankruptcy. We were actually paying {$1900.00} a month to Wells Fargo and no one could ever tell us where the money went. After the true XXXX we went through during this time, we lost it all in the end. We will probably never be able to own a home again.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: Wells Fargo refused to modify our mortgage loan for us. This forced us into default and loosing our home. We had a law firm that was helping us to try and modify our mortgage. The response from the law firm was that Wells Fargo had a pre-qualifying unit in place that we had to go through to even get to the loan modification department of Wells Fargo. Many requests were submitted by the law firm for a loan modification, and they were all denied. We we were victims of what occurred with many other home owners between the years of XXXX. In Hernandez v Wells Fargo Bank NA Home Loan Modification Settlement Case No. XXXX. Wells Fargo paid on a settlement for refusing homeowners loan modification which cause default and many to lose their homes. This was the case with us yet somehow we were not notified of this case and did not learn about it until after it was closed. Wells Fargo sold our home. This cause severe emotional distress to me and my family as we lost our home of almost 20 years when we were evicted from our home. We have been renting a house since XX/XX/2022. We hope to receive help in this matter and restore what we have lost.

Consumer Complaint: Wells Fargo Credit Reporting Crime Wells Fargo Credit Card Fraud Department Purposely reported incorrect and incriminating information to the XXXXhree major credit bureaus to trash my credit score. After several months and more than thirty instances of hacking into everyone of my WF accounts my wife and I decided to leave WF for a new bank. This was after more than 25 years with Wells Fargo of effortless and loyal banking. We had to get away from a situation that left us severely sleep deprived and uncontrollable anxiety in the case of my wife. The hackers used clever hacks to move money from one account to the next and then buy thing like crypto currency from my check account. WFs fraud departments were structure according to the account types and simply could not deal with this situation. They would solve it by just replacing the lost funds. The internet banking app was easy to hack into and that is how most transactions occurred. The credit card fraud department were very bad and unable to stabilize the balance so that we could pay the outstanding balance to close the account. In a desperate effort to block out the hacker, they decided to close the account completely and create a completely new credit card account. They committed to sending the new credit cards overnight. That did happen as promised, a new card for me, one for my wife and one for one of the hackers XXXX XXXX were in the XXXX envelop. After trying various things to stabilize the account and determine what we were responsible for failed, we decided that we will just pay the full amount and close the account. That turned out to be more difficult than we expected. It took all morning to get an amount to pay and once we did, there was no senior banker to close the account. We went for lunch and came back when the snr banker was supposed to be there. He started the close, but could not because the balance was no longer zero. I told him everything we had been through and he laughed non-stop for a while, then said : I knew we were bad, but I never realized we were this bad! When by monthly CREDIT REPORT UPDATES came, I was shocked to see a drop of more than XXXX points on all major bureaus. I called XXXX immediately and they identified the cause as a report from Wells Fargo Credit Card. It reported various late payments and stated that the account was closed because of delinquency!!!! My wife still suffers from severe anxiety and sleeplessness. I have suffered financially as a result of the damage they caused to my credit history.

Consumer Complaint: I was divorced in XXXX. My husband was awarded the primary residence and was supposed to refinance the joint debt. He failed to do so and also failed to keep the loan current. Wells Fargo filed a foreclosure action in XXXX of XXXX. I offered a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure to Wells Fargo at that time as I have a power of attorney to convey the property. They reused to accept the offer. The co-borrower did not respond to the foreclosure request, so it was not contested, and should have resulted in a summary judgment in XXXX. Instead, Wells Fargo requested stays on seven occasions, while continuing to report the delinquency to credit. The reason was stated as on-going loss mitigation and a possible forbearance agreement. A forbearance request has to be made by both borrowers, and I have never requested the forbearance that continued to delay the process. The co-borrower also never completed the requirements for such a request making the stays wholly unnecessary. In the past five years the co-borrower has only made 5 payments so the loan history indicates no serious attempts on his part to resolve the delinquency. Instead hes been enjoying a mortgage free home for over 5 years. The case has now been resolved, as I entered into a stipulated judgment in return from release of deficiency liability in XXXX of XXXX. A Joint Motion for Entry of Stipulated Judgment and Decree of Foreclosure, Waiver of Deficiency, and Shortened Redemption Period was filed with the court on XX/XX/XXXX. As the court accepted this stipulation and Wells Fargo agreed to waive any deficiency, late payments should no longer be reported to credit for me. Wells Fargo then failed to sell the home in XXXX when the judgment became final, and finally sold the loan in XXXX of XXXX. The new servicer has also failed to sell the home, and has requested continued stays to the process. I requested Wells Fargo to remove all credit bureau reporting on this loan from XX/XX/XXXX ( when the stipulated agreement became effective ) through present and they refused to do so. Instead they kept asking me to sign a quit claim deed to the property, so that I give up my rights to be informed on their actions in servicing their loan. This is a loophole in XXXX guidelines that should be closed. No one should be asked to give up their ownership rights without also being released from the debt.
