Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account
Subissue: Transaction was not authorized
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I wrote check number XXXX payable to The XXXX XXXX XXXX. The check cleared my account on that day and was credited to my account at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Then again on XX/XX/XXXX, the same check was again debited from my Wells Fargo account. This one is a fraud. I wrote only XXXX check for {$2900.00} and it was debited twice. I need to get my {$2900.00} back from Wells Fargo. I have filed 3 complaints with Wells Fargo. They keep closing the case and I have to have it started over again. One of the claim numbers is XXXX. I think that is the most recent one but I may be wrong. Another claim number is XXXX. There is no progress on this issue and I still don't have the {$2900.00} back. I need this to be resolved. Wells Fargo was negligent in clearing the same check twice and the second time it was not cashed by the payee. I don't know who cashed it the second time as the endorsement is illegible.

Consumer Complaint: I'm a service member XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I opened a CD account with XXXX XXXX and transferred {$30000.00} from my Wells Fargo checkings account to fund the CD account. My location was marked as " suspicious '' by XXXX XXXX, who locked my account and initiated a fraud inquiry. After about a week my access was restored and I found that my XXXX account reflected {$0.00}. I called XXXX XXXX, who stated that the transaction was cancelled immediately upon the fraud investigation, and the funds were " returned to sender '', presumably that same day. I opened a claim with Wells Fargo for my funds. Two weeks later they stated that my claim was denied because my account was correctly charged. I never suggested that it was incorrectly charged, only that I had never received the refund. They open a second claim to look further into matter. About another two weeks pass and they claim that my account was not charged at all. I call them again to follow up ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and they said that this second claim was denied because they believed the transaction occured on XX/XX/XXXX instead of XX/XX/XXXX, another error on their end. Wells Fargo then asks me when XXXX returned the funds, to which I conceded that I did not know for sure. I can only assume the same day if it was " immediately cancelled '' as XXXX XXXX suggested. Wells Fargo responded that I needed to take this up with XXXX XXXX, because if they had returned the funds, it would've showed up in my account. I'm amazed with their faith in their processes given their seeming inability to even file claims correctly and waiting for weeks on end only for me to point out their own mistakes. I've called them several times ( ~8 ) concerning this while being in a XXXX environment - accommodating their claims ' department working hours from a different time zone with inconsistent phone service due to my location. Every claims response they've sent has been via letter ( not email ) to my home address - which of course takes time to deliver. My family must then take a picture of the letter and forward it to me via my VOIP number. So by the time I even see Wells Fargo 's response, at least a week has passed assuming I have internet access. Most recently, I asked to escalate my issue and was placed on hold for about 20 minutes before my call disconnected due to aforementioned phone service. I'm frustrated with Wells Fargo inability to conduct even a proper inquiry. Any assistance you can provide or point me towards is greatly appreciated. I will do my best to provide any follow up information if necessary.

Consumer Complaint: I banked with Wells Fargo for years until I could no longer handle the overdraft fees when my account shouldnt have been overdrawn, freezing my account many times to where I could not access my money. After paying fees that I know were wrongfully put on my account over and over and they would do nothing about it I finally closed my account. I then received something in the mail stating I owed the bank money for overdraft fees when my account had been closed for over 6 months. I paid the fees because the letter stated it had attorneys involved. At this time I was younger and should have known I was being scammed. Wells Fargo is a fraud!

Consumer Complaint: Complaint after complaint, with Wells Fargo, only to be lied to over and over! In XXXX we began making house payments. I have shown you over and over that because of the illegal actions by Wells Fargo and companies. Receiving foreclosure notices by the second payment. XXXX alone in XXXX of XXXX. The 2005 statements that are all different and payments made to Wells Fargo! Im complaining about the payments that started disappearing from month to month. From XXXX we have sent on enough to prove that we have been the victim of Wells Fargos illegal actions from the first payment. To the loan modification that in one month we made 3 separate payments! When will Wells Fargo actually be help accountable for all the years of blatant theft fraud and knowingly continuing the illegal actions until XXXX or later? I have sent in proof of the amount of payments we made that just disappeared.

Subissue: Problem with fees charged
Consumer Complaint: I had many issues with a checking account with Wells Fargo many years prior and closed the account due to thousands of dollars of overcharge fees and freezing my account over and over. When trying to purchase this vehicle Wells Fargo was the only bank with the lowest interest rate so I accepted the car loan. My interest was changed to a higher amount after I purchased the vehicle, I was charged fees for being late when my payment was made on time and they had just not processed it. I received calls saying they were going to reprocess my vehicle and I was up to date with all of my payments, they charged fees and added them to the loan. The loan was opened XX/XX/XXXX and my car was totaled and my car insurance paid the loan off in XX/XX/XXXX with my GAP insurance is what I was told. The fees were never reimbursed although they were unlawful fees, the constant bullying and threats that my car would be taken even though I never missed or was late on a payment on this vehicle. I should have known to not accept the loan through this bank due to the thousands of dollars they cost me years prior. I was offered another loan for my new car in XXXX and denied Wells Fargo and went with XXXX. This bank is fraudulent in every way and steal money from their good standing customers, and harass them.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX called Well & XXXX Each said the The other one had to fix the problem. Went through this circle a couple of times. Filed complaint with Wells. Asked to speak to management, but no Avail. Answer I'm getting back is I can no longer use my cell phone number or the email addresses I submitted. This is totally ridiculous as I have had both email and phone number more than 20 years.. I do understand how this can be suspicious Activity as my customers and I were setting up the account and trying to get things to work before everything was in place. It should not be an acceptable practice to prevent people from using personal emails or phone numbers on XXXX because someone doesn't want to take the time to go in and edit the database.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: Wells Fargo is doing what I expected them to do when you give them the license to contact affected parties regarding loan modification denials, etc... I have spoken to more than one person and I keep getting asked to supply documentation. XXXX, XXXX Wells Fargo said there is no record of me requesting a modification. They said that all of my payments were processed when they were received and there is no record of them delaying receipt of payments to charge late fees. My attorney sent documentation via email and fax only to be told there is no record. Why do I have to be responsible for proving that Wells Fargo has been a bad actor. I have submitted numerous complaints regarding Wells Fargo and their practices as my mortgage servicer. XXXX, XXXX, XXXX. When the CFPB fined Wells Fargo, I was told that they were giving Wells Fargo the opportunity to reach out to the affected parties which is inherently a conflict of interest. Wells Fargo has corresponded and acknowledge the misapplication of mortgage payments. Wells Fargo has violated Federal laws and did not apply my payments when received in order to charge late fees. Wells Fargo sold my mortgage to an XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) masquerading as a mortgage servicer ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) who failed to verify the debt information received from Wells Fargo ( which was inaccurate ). I had an attorney send a request for verification of debt which they did not answer and moved forward to file for foreclosure although I only owed {$1200.00} at the point they assumed the mortgage from Wells Fargo. XXXX They cited that Wells Fargo gave them my records that showed I owed 5 times that amount. I have called Wells Fargo regarding the recent ruling from the CFPB and why I have not been contacted. Why would the CFPB expect the company that broke the law to now contact all affected parties and make them whole. As of today neither the CFPB, nor Wells Fargo has not contacted me regarding the matter.
