Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Public record information inaccurate
Consumer Complaint: I reviewed my credit report with Lexis Nexis. There is a public record listed on for a bankruptcy. I disputed this incorrect information and received a response stating the information obtain in my credit report was " verified as accurate. '' I contacted them to ask how this information was verified ; however, I have not received a response to that question. I mailed a letter to the court listed in my file and received a response from the United States Bankruptcy Court stating they do not report information to or remove information from the credit bureaus. In addition, my account with Lexis Nexis has a freeze placed on my account since XX/XX/2019. How was this information obtained and who verified this inaccurate information since the US Bankruptcy Court state they do not report anything to the credit bureaus. The US Bankruptcy Court is the only entity that can verify if this information is true and correct, and they state they do not provide information. I have made several calls and written letters disputing this public record and I am frustrated as I am getting nowhere.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Public record information inaccurate
Consumer Complaint: I went to apply for a loan and was denied. The credit report showed a bankruptcy. I ordered my report from LexisNexis and there are multiple inaccuracies on the report. The main thing is they list a bankruptcy showing on my report, I called the clerk at the court and she said they have no record and I asked them how can this be put on my credit file? She said LexisNexis was the company that sells public record information to the credit bureaus. I disputed with all 3 credit bureaus and they all came back saying this information was validated through LexisNexis. LexisNexis states they verify this information through the court so I called the clerk at the court again and she stated that they do not verify court case information and how could they verify something that isn't there. So now I am requesting LexisNexis to delete the bankruptcy information from their report as it is erroneous and they have zero proof of validity of the information. this has caused different financial institutions to deny me credit and also close active accounts that I have. This has to be some sort of violation of law for a company to sell/furnish/publish information that is not accurate to companies that use this information for credit/employment/housing/insurance/etc. I am going to consult an attorney because this is terrible how much money I have missed out on by the misrepresentation of LexisNexis data and almost lost my security clearance for the same reason.
