Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, my spouse XXXX XXXX wrote check # XXXX on our joint Chase checking account ending in XXXX to XXXX XXXX for {$100.00}. On XX/XX/2023, we logged into our Chase checking account online and saw that a check had been chased on XX/XX/2023 for {$5000.00} made out to XXXX XXXX at another Chase branch. Someone stole our check, washed it, and changed the payee and amount. We reported this to Chase on XX/XX/XXXX and the representative advised it would take 30 days to resolve the claim. We also reported this theft to the XXXX Police Department ( case : XXXX ) and the United States XXXX XXXX XXXX ( request XXXX ). After two weeks we received a fraudulent check affidavit from Chase which we completed and returned to Chase on XX/XX/XXXX. I called Chase on XX/XX/XXXX and they advised that it would now take XXXX to 90 days from XX/XX/XXXX to resolve this claim. This is totally unacceptable as Chase is the party who cashed the fraudulent check. We have had this Chase checking account for 9 years without any issues but now Chase is refusing to refund the {$5000.00} that they withdrew from our account. Under the XXXX, Chase is responsible for accepting a check that has been forged or altered.

Consumer Complaint: Someone stole XXXX Chase XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX from my mailbox. I am not sure if it was a postal worker or if it was an actual Chase XXXX personnel. I applied for the credit card XX/XX/2022, and on XX/XX/2022, I received a notification that the card would be mailed XXXX days. I NEVER received the card. This has resulted in fraudulent charges on my credit card, that I never received. I am still currently disputing this as theft with Chase today. I have emails from the Fraud department asking me if I authorized this transaction, to which I clicked " No ''. The email was on XX/XX/2022, from the XXXX email : Declined transaction to XXXX XXXX was made for {$400.00}. Once I selected the button " No, Something's Wrong '' a second automatic card was mailed out to me on XX/XX/XXXX. Another card that I NEVER RECEIVED. I contacted the XXXX department with an online inquiry on XX/XX/XXXX ( ref # XXXX ) reporting the mail theft. The fraud department called my house stating that someone was trying to commit fraud on my card. I spoke to a representative and let her know that I did not make any purchases and that I never received the card. I was told that it would be taken care of, and I didn't have to worry. However, several weeks later I received a bill in the mail. I called numerous times to report this as fraud, and after Chase XXXX 's " investigation '' they added the charges back to my card. I spoke to a representative named XXXX and he advised me to make a police report for a federal crime ( mail theft ). I was also advised to submit evidence to Chase that these charges were fraudulent. After calling the police department I was advised to make a claim through the USPS ( which I did again ). I emailed the USPS case ref # and the Fraud Alert emails to the XXXX email on XX/XX/2022 and NO ONE RESPONDED OR CALLED ME. I have NEVER had to go through this before with any other company. This is sad. The worst part about this is, I have excellent credit. I have another card with XXXX through Chase and its ALWAYS paid off. I do not understand why the Fraud/Recovery department did not do their job. This matter has not been resolved and it's been 7 months.

Consumer Complaint: Based on the promotion from Chase Bank, I opened a checking and savings account, then had two electronic direct deposits paid by my company in XX/XX/2022. As attached. However, Chase just refused to pay my bonus, which should have been {$300.00} + {$100.00} credited to my checking account since I met both requirements for savings and checking. I have done my part ; Chase should've honored their offer.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX my account under an old name at Chase bank it was reported as fraudulent due to a lack of security measures on the banks end my account had been compromised. I went into the local Chase bank at the time in XXXX when this happened and reported the activity and closed it down due to this activity I received the money back and was told by several of the CSR people that I would be able to open an account with chase again if I wanted to. However fast forward to XXXX today and they are switching up what Chase told me years back and telling me that my old account is still under investigation and that it's showing as active. I call and call repeatedly I get the same response " oh we will send you a letter stating why '' no letter ever comes nor does anything come with any reason as to why I am unable to open a new account. I have provided proof of my name change to CSR people at the facility ( several ) and when they try to help even they don't get a answer as to why I am unable to open an account. I haven't changed my social number nor have I had any indication that it was compromised because of their lack of security. This was a issue and problem on the banks end not my own and yet I am the one paying for it and they won't give me any explanation even when I present my social to them in person or over the phone. If I even try to open an account under my name it gets closed within a few days for " suspicious activity '' it's frustrating and annoying and starting to XXXX me off. I have contacted the credit bureaus and they tell me that there is no more connection to my old name with anything but yet this is still showing as a active account on chases end and I am still receiving things from a supposed closed account. On top of it all they continue to send me emails and marketing things that I am " eligible '' for. How can I be eligible if I can't access an account nor get into an old one that was supposed to be closed years ago.

Consumer Complaint: I deposited a insurance check for {$8600.00} into my personal checking account that was made out to me and the mortgage company. The back of the check had the endorsement from both mortgage company and myself. However the following day my account was frozen without explanation. I only was informed after my debit card was declined while trying to purchase gas. I was told by local chase branch manager to call loss prevention. After several conversations I was told they needed to verify funds even though check was drawn on chase account owned by insurance company. I provided the check verification phone number and contacted my insurance company who said check had already cleared. I called chase loss prevention back and was instructed they needed to speak with signer from my mortgage company on a verified phone number. I gave them corporate number and his extension and they called and said account should be unrestricted within the hour. I called one hr later and was told account still restricted and they apologized and stated the phone number they called for verification was delisted and verification was invalid for mortgage company signer. They are refusing to unrestrict my account and refuse to release my insurance proceeds to fix my roof

Consumer Complaint: I have given money to clear XXXX XXXX who then stored it with XXXX XXXX and they provided no service and agree to pay me back. However when they agreed to pay me back I had called chase had them dispute {$1000.00}. So the. XXXX XXXX returned the money they had minus this XXXX and then chase decided to give the money back to them. But XXXX XXXX claims they could not accept the money again. They say that chase is holding onto it. Now I am late paying my rent, and my account is insanely negative. They claim to be investing but what is there to investigate? You can look at my account and see they tried to give the money back. I dont get why everyone wants to play games with my money. Its fraud and a scam.

Consumer Complaint: I was offered a {$300.00} promo credit for adding a new checking account with Chase Bank. I used the promo link they provided which automatically applied the promo code ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). The terms required setting up a direct deposit which I did. I created the account on XX/XX/2022 and the {$300.00} bonus was supposed to be added on XX/XX/2022. That never happened. I have called and spoken to Chase representatives on more than 5 occasions now. Each time they have promised a resolution and it had yet to happen. As of my last phone call on XX/XX/2022, Chase has claimed that no promo code was ever applied to my account. This is false. It appears Chase is either intentionally attempting to defraud me, or their customer support in inept beyond belief.

Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: While traveling over XXXX, I accidentally missed a payment on my Chase Freedom credit card that was due on XX/XX/2022. The amount due was {$2000.00}, and as soon as I noticed my mistake 4 days later I paid the full amount of {$2000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I knew that both a late fee and interest on the balance would be charged, and sure enough the next statement from Chase charged me {$42.00} in interest and {$28.00} in Late Fees. The statement was dated XX/XX/XXXX and covered the dates of XXXX - XXXXXXXX XXXX. My payment of {$2000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX was included on this statement. That bill was due on XX/XX/XXXX, and I paid the full statement balance ( including the interest and fees ) on that date. As far as I was concerned, that was the end of the fiasco - I had paid the full penalty that was owed due to my missing the XXXX due date by 4 days and my balance was back to XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, a new interest charge of {$19.00} was charged to my credit card and included on my statement of the same date. I called Chase to inquire why I was once again charged interest on this statement, even though I had paid my bill in full on XX/XX/XXXX and again on XX/XX/XXXX ( the latter payment also covering all fees and interest charges accrued in the 4 days between my XX/XX/XXXX due date and my XX/XX/XXXX payment date ). Chase responded that because of my late payment, there was an unpaid balance on my account that continued to accrue interest throughout the month of XXXX until my payment on XX/XX/XXXX. There was no indication in my online account portal that any such charge was accruing, and the statement dated XX/XX/XXXX made no mention that any balance was accruing interest. It simply stated the amount that was due on XX/XX/XXXX, which I dutifully paid in full on that date. Despite the fact that they did not provide me any communication that there was a balance accruing interest daily ( or even include this information on my online account portal ), Chase flatly refused to reimburse the {$19.00} they charged in interest on the XX/XX/XXXX bill. In short, Chase charged me interest without communicating to me that this was happening and refused to reimburse me for it. I do not believe this was either fair or ethical.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX. The person ( XXXX XXXX ) messages me interested in the item. They wanted to send me money through XXXX but, said that when they sent the money it requires them to send an extra {$500.00} due to me not having a " XXXX XXXX Account '' so I would have to send them back {$500.00}. being unfamiliar with XXXX and in a hurry because I was doing this while at work I assumed this was something legit and went ahead and sent them {$500.00} through XXXX XXXX XXXX was the name on the XXXX account ) so I could finish the transaction. After I sent the transaction I got a notification from my bank chase that the payment would be under review before it would clear so I called them to make sure the payment went through when I informed them about the situation they told me it was a scam based on the details. since the payment didn't go through yet I tried to get it canceled and they said that since I called right away that the payment was able to be stopped since it was still under review yet an hour later the payment actually did go through on my account.
