Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card

Consumer Complaint: We were offered a promotional 0 % transfer on our Amazon Chase card that we have held since XXXX. This is our primary credit card where we pay our balance off every month to avoid interest. We took the transfer to pay down some of a recent home equity line. We were given 12 months to pay off the transfer at the 0 %. we did XXXX and had a transaction fee of {$370.00}. However, when we started to pay our card the first month of the loan i noticed the payments were only being allocated to the balance transfer and not to our purchases that month. i called Chase to see how I could pay the new purchases first and then allocate the overage to the transfer portion since it is reflected in a different area on our statement. I was informed that I have to pay off the entire transfer and then the new purchases to avoid any interest on my new purchases. I was told that was in the very long disclosure. The spending behavior I have demonstrated for 13 years clearly shows that we do not intend to pay interest at 17.74 % on purchases. I am very upset by the way this is handled and the advertisement indicating a 0 % with a transfer fee. I was OK with the transfer fee and completely understand it, however I do not think I should be penalized twice for this transaction that was advertised as 0 % for 12 months. We took this transfer on XX/XX/XXXX

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I was in the process of booking a hotel room at the XXXX XXXX in downtown XXXX. Before finalizing the booking, a credit card offer presented itself on the XXXX website from Chase. The offer was that upon approval, I would get a {$250.00} statement credit. Well, I never got it. I called Chase and XXXX after I got my first statement and saw that the credit was not there. Over the last several months, I have since spent many hours on the phone with many different Chase and XXXX supervisors asking for my credit and they keep telling me the same thing ; Chase says XXXX has to give me the credit and XXXX says Chase has to give me the credit. Basically I was lied to and this is unfair and unacceptable. Please help me resolve this.

Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card

Consumer Complaint: I called Chase Rewards approximately 10 times starting on XX/XX/2022 regarding my flight that I paid for with their rewards points worth {$520.00} ( XXXX points ) for an XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2022 from XXXX to XXXX XXXX. I was denied boarding on the flight and received a letter from XXXXXXXX XXXX apologizing and on the phone with the XXXX XXXX Agent, they told me that Chase should refund me the points. I called Chase over 10 times for approximately 15 hours and I am transferred to an XXXX call center where there is little follow-up or due diligence with XXXX XXXX XXXX I have not received my refund and XXXX XXXX said it is Chase 's responsibility. I plan on closing this credit card due to the service and would like my reimbursement immediately. It has been 2.5 months with no progress. Chase either blames XXXX XXXX ( not true since XXXX XXXX sent me a separate reimbursement for my hotel ) or claims that since I paid with rewards points that it is not refundable. This is a rewards program scam.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low

Subissue: Overdrafts and overdraft fees

Consumer Complaint: From XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX I got charged 8 overdrafts fees to my personal account totaling {$270.00}. I called on Saturday XX/XX/XXXX for help on removing the fees, because after the pandemic my life changed and I have been thru financial hardships. My time is limited, I have XXXX kids and XXXX jobs. When I called the associated said he could help me with 3 overdrafts because that was the max allow in 1 day, that I had to call back to get help on the other fees. I called today, lost my time to find out that I was lied on, they tell me 3 is the maximum allowed in an entire year. I spent 1 hour today on the phone to solve nothing. Chase is very black and white where they allow 3 and they don't care about what situation you are having at the moment. I explained I usually transfer the money as soon as I get a negative balance alert, however I explained I had a situation where I couldn't be on top of my accounts as I usually am and also amazon transactions were those subscriptions where of course I didn't have the time either to be cancelling those transactions because what was going on. I would like the rest of the overdraft fees removed.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: For the past five years I have received a paycheck from the same employer, XXXX XXXX, at the same time, on or about the XXXX of the month. The checks have been deposited either physically at the bank, or more recently in the past years, electronically via the Chase bank app. The check in question was received by me on XX/XX/2023 and electronically deposited with the Chase Bank app on the same day, XX/XX/2023. As usual, Chase released {$500.00} immediately and stated that the remaining balance, {$5500.00}, would be available XX/XX/2023. We are all aware of the issues that arose regarding XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX on Friday, XX/XX/2023. The check in question was from an XXXX XXXX account at XXXX XXXX. On Monday, XX/XX/2023, President Joseph Biden made a televised appearance at XXXX to assure the American Public that the banking system was stable, and that all business associated with both XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX would proceed as normal. The New York State Department of Financial Services, which appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Company as receiver. On Tuesday, XX/XX/2023, I received notification from Chase bank that there would be a hold put on the funds availability of my check deposit. Chase removed the previous cleared funds of {$500.00} from my account. Upon calling Chase Bank regarding this reversal of fund availability, and extended hold on the check until XX/XX/2023, I was provided the phone number XXXX, which is for Chase Banks Loss and Fraud department. Together we were successful in contacting the bank to determine that the check was in good order and in fact had cleared XXXX Bank on XXXX XXXX. The hold was removed and the totality of funds were made available.the same day of XX/XX/2023, Chase bank reversed their decision in the early evening and again put an extended hold on the check, and the full amount of the check was removed from my account. This is even though at this point in time Chase had received the funds from XXXX XXXX. In following up with Chase today, XX/XX/2023 Chase has refused to release the funds from my deposit and will not discuss removing the extended hold, currently for another week, to clear the funds. The banking system, and consumer confidence in the banking system, in the United States is crucial to the economy of the United States. President Biden made that point in his early morning address on Monday, XX/XX/2023. Chase Bank has violated this confidence and their actions can cause rational minded individuals, and companies, to make rash decisions that will de detrimental to our economy and banking system. This type of behavior exhibited by Chase Bank is not the kind of behavior that instills confidence in Chase bank, the XXXX XXXX XXXX, nor the XXXX XXXX. This behavior on behalf of Chase Bank is reckless and should be acknowledged as such. Chase is putting our economy in peril and I request assistance with this matter.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: In late XXXX - early XXXX, I authorized automatic payments to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX chase credit card among other credit lines. In XXXX, I notified XXXX XXXX she was no longer authorized on this account. After I notified XXXX XXXX, I called Chase Bank and cancelled/ closed all automatic payments being made on her behalf. There were multiple reversals completed by Chase Bank. This was an ongoing issue for a couple months. I notified Chase Bank on multiple occasions to file fraud charges, and dispute multiple charges. These charges were reversed and credited to my account. I again contacted Chase to try and find resolve for this recurring issue. Chase advised me of XXXX options : XXXX close existing checking account and open a new one. XXXX. Contact customer service and issue a stop payment order ( which I would have to pay a fee to do ). I opted for option XXXX, I closed the existing account and open new one. After this occured, I noticed some automatic payments going to chase credit card. When I called and asked I was told that it was going to my chase credit card. After a while and kept questioning it, I compared the automatic withdraw ( auto pay / ACH ) with my payments to credit card and found a discrepancy. I called and asked what account this was being sent to, during multiple times of calling to inquire, before I was able to get the name ( had to be switched between multiple departments ), the call would go idle, or get dropped. Each time trying to contact took approximately XXXX minutes, then the call would end, go quiet, not have anyone on the other line and not in the queue. I was finally able to find out who the payments were being sent to, which i then tried to escalate the issue multiple times and show this person was found to be fraudulent. My many attempts did absolutely nothing. Still to this day ( XXXX years ) there are still payments being made to an unauthorized account and Chase says there is nothing they can do about it.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: I called Chase on XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about some bonus miles that were going to be deposited to my account that I wanted to use to book a flight. I was told by the Chase customer service representative they would be deposited after XXXX when the billing cycle closes, and she directed me to go ahead and book the flight, and then after XXXX I would be able to see the miles in my ( Chase ) account, and I could apply them as a statement credit to cover the cost of the flight. So, I booked the flight. The following day I logged into my Chase account to apply the miles, but I wasn't able to figure out how. I called Chase and the customer service representative informed me that was not an option at all. I was distraught. That rep directed me to call United to see what they could do. I called United and was told I should cancel the flight and submit a claim to be refunded. I did so, but the ticket I purchased was non-refundable and the claim was denied. I disputed this with Chase immediately because I wouldn't have made the purchase if a representative of their company hadn't directed me to do so. I am being charged for a flight I never took because I was given bad information. Chase denied the claim, and I asked them to re-open in XX/XX/XXXX and to review the call I made on XX/XX/XXXX, which would confirm what I was saying. In XXXX I spoke with a manager who told me they reviewed the call and wouldn't release that information to me. I've been through multiple cycles of having to write a letter to have this reviewed, and receiving no correspondence from Chase for months ( almost a year ), then the charges are back on my statement, and I have to start over. I would like the charge refunded so I can close the account.
