Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: IC Systems called about 3 months ago saying I had a collection out for an XXXX XXXX XXXX account I had opened in XXXX XXXX. The calls happened in XXXX and I had no previous notifications about outstanding debts ( i am very good about managing debt ). Naturally, I drove to XXXX XXXX XXXX to resolve whatever was on my account, but they had no recollection of any outstanding balances with them, nor could they trace the amount I was told I owed. I also asked them if they use small, family owned debt collection companies out of Minnesota, like IC Systems. They said no, they go through large, verified companies that collect debt and give ample time to take care of any debts and give several notifications before sending to collections, which was not done. They said I had partaken in a scam transaction for {$84.00} and some change. I immediately went to my bank and cancelled my card and reported a dispute for fraud on my account. It has been 2 months since this took place and today XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I get another call from IC systems in another state and city, with a different number and no voicemail left. From the first run in with them I knew they could n't have any credible information on me so I called back and told the man who picked up the phone that they are a scam and I am reporting them to the FBI and the BBB. He tried to tell me that they are a real company but I hung up. Several XXXX searches proved that IT IS A SCAM COMPANY. Some said it is a scam group posing as IC systems trying to get you to make payments over the phone, others said it was actually IC systems and they were scamming people. I am tired of the scares about collections and they need to be taken down.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed

Consumer Complaint: As per bankruptcy case number XXXX, XXXX was listed as a debtor as there were " lease payments '' on a cellular device. The phone number associated with this account is XXXX. I have returned the device and paid for usage. Seven times over the last six months, I tried to reach out to XXXX to resolve this matter. Each time, XXXX assured me that the account was closed and " would have '' a zero balance. XXXX did not object, nor attend any debtors meetings. I am still receiving daily calls from IC Systems demanding payment and this debt collector has placed a collection account on my credit report. XXXX now indicates I owe a balance due to a broken lease agreement which was listed in the bankruptcy. No one seems competent at neither XXXX nor IC Systems to resolve this matter. Therefore, as a last resort, I am reaching out to CFPB. Your prompt assistance is greatly appreciated. " XXXX '' with employee ID XXXX was the last person I spoke to regarding this account with XXXX.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: This account was removed and proven to not be mine in XX/XX/XXXX and it all of a sudden re-appeared XX/XX/XXXX. The first time the company was n't able to provide me with any type of legally accepted validation of such debt, my personal information was even incorrect. When I asked for validation AGAIN in XX/XX/XXXX, all I received was bills with an address I never lived at, no signatures or anything that constitutes legal validation in accordance to FCRA rules. Also the company put the account back on my credit without proper notification as they were obligated to do in accordance to FCRA rules. This account does not belong to me remove it immediately or I will seek legal action.

Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute

Consumer Complaint: I canceled my internet service with XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX, and remitted payment for my final outstanding balance in XXXX XXXX. At this time I was given confirmation that my account was close, with a XXXX balance and in good standing with XXXX XXXX. I returned the router as requested and that was it. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a credit alert advising me that a new collection account was open under my personal information. XXXX XXXX transferred a debt in the amount of {$100.00} to I.C Systems. Please be advised that I never received a bill, a late noticed of any kind by XXXX XXXX or I.C Systems given me no opportunity to dispute the debit prior to negatively impacting my credit report. Following the credit alert I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX Customer Care team, after speaking with several representative I spoke with XXXX. He was great, helpful and took the time to review my concerns properly. He let me know that the {$100.00} charge was for the router. Although they could confirm that the router was delivered, it reflected delivered two days after the allotted return timeframe. Considering that they have possession of the equipment, he moved forward to issuing a credit for the outstanding balance of {$100.00}. I was advised to contact XXXX XXXX on Monday to get confirmation that the account was closed, with a XXXX balance and that they instructed the third party collection agency to delete all negative reporting associated to the debt. Well on Monday XX/XX/XXXX, I was told the credit was there reflecting as pending approval and that I should call again in a few days. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX, and I was given the same story.
