Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I was billed {$85.00} for XXXX XXXX by XXXX XXXX XXXX that were performed for my wife XXXX 's XXXX XXXX on or around XXXX XXXX. I paid the bill through my medical savings account on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. For some reason the payment was not recorded and before I could resolve the issue with them was sent to collections. IC System have been attempting to collect the {$85.00} from me for the past year. I have talked to IC Systems several times on the phone over the past year and have been unable to resolve the issue even though I have sent them documentation showing that the bill was paid. Every time I talk to them on the phone they post another negative report on my credit score. I know it 's just {$85.00} and I could just repay the bill again but it 's the principle of having paid my bill and still being sent to collections. I would like this resolved and the negative reports taken off my credit score. What can I do?

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Consumer Complaint: I was provided no notification of the " alleged '' debt and thus any opportunity to dispute the debt prior to its reporting to credit bureaus. On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX, I sent the following letter : Certified Mail XXXX. XXXX, XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX, MN XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX : Account for {$320.00} ending in XXXX To whom it may concern : I am writing to demand that you immediately remove from my account a reported amount of {$320.00} for an account ending in XXXX. 1. In violation of the FCRA, I have not received notice of any such debt as well as the contact information regarding to whom this alleged debt is owed. 2. Neither have I been afforded an opportunity to nor have I been provided an opportunity to dispute the alleged debt. I hereby demand that this alleged debt be immediately removed from any and all credit report bureaus this has been reported to until such time you can comply with the provision of the FCRA. Failure to do so will result in a suit to protect my rights and any damage done to my credit reputation. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, TX XXXX In addition, I am receiving an excessive number of spoofed calls which leave no messages which have exceeded 100 in total as of this date and no response to my letter. Further, it seems that the day after they received the letter, they reported the debt to another credit reporting agency rather than remove them until I have an opportunity to review and request documentation and dispute.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX XXXX, I switched cell phone carriers from XXXX to XXXX. After becoming a XXXX customer, I was eligible for the switch promo XXXX was offering new customers. This meant that new customers could submit their final bill from former carrier and XXXX would allot for the payoff. I contacted XXXX several times for the final bill they never did comply. XXXX XXXX, 60 days past which made me ineligible for the switch promotion pay off. Of which time XXXX turns my account over to collections, ( I. C. System, inc. ), who begins reporting this account to all three credit bureaus and is currently still reporting. Again I contacted XXXX several times for final statement of my bill to submit to XXXX for payoff. XXXX never sent me a final document ; email or hard copy. XXXX has since dealt away with the matter. They 've received payment for turning the account over to the I. C. System collection agency, & I 'm now left with the negative reports against my credit through no fault of my own!!

Consumer Complaint: My late father, who died in XXXX, had 2 telephone line accounts with XXXX XXXX XXXX since the XXXX : a primary residence line and a secondary fax line for his at-home law business. I moved in with him to care for him as he became ill shortly before he died ; after he died I continued making the monthly payments for both lines, but I did n't need the secondary fax line anymore since I do n't use fax machines. Moreover, the fax line was disconnected by an XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX technician who was trying to fix the primary phone line XXXX excessive static, dropped calls XXXX. I told the technician to just close the fax line account since it has n't been used for a couple of years since my father died. Then I called XXXX XXXX XXXX and told them to cancel the fax account & upgrade the DSL service on the primary line. But instead of closing the account, they just kept billing me for another 2 months. They refused to close the account & instead kept billing me ; for 2 years I paid every monthly bill even though I never used the fax line, and after the tech disconnected it, I closed it then stopped paying the bills. That is where the current debt originated, but it was only my father 's account all along since he alone signed the contract & he alone used the account. XXXX XXXX XXXX then reported it to the credit bureaus under my father 's name over 5 years ago. So not only is the debt not mine, but there should n't be ANY debt at all since I closed that account many years ago. Then, about 2 months ago I get a letter from a collection agency threatening to report me to credit bureaus if I do n't pay this debt. I call them, IC Systems, Inc., explain the above and they hang up on me after a heated argument. Then two weeks ago I get another letter offering to settle the supposed XXXX XXXX XXXX debt of {$280.00} for {$84.00}. And a week ago I get a credit alert that a new collection account has damaged my credit profile. So a debt that is n't even mine & is n't even legitimate is now ruining my otherwise perfect credit history. So I go to IC System 's website & pay the {$84.00} in order to end this nightmare & remove the fraudulent collection account from my credit report. But after I make the payment, a get a message from IC System that I still owe {$190.00} on my account!!!! Furthermore, the fraudulent account is still on my XXXX credit report doing severe damage to my credit score!!

Consumer Complaint: After months of requests to ICS, they still have not provided any validation that the account is mine. More importantly, that I should pay THEM. I have requested simply validation for months, but all they said was it 's verified. And with that, I inquired as to how they verified it, with whom, and they never provided any documentation to show verification/validation.
