Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX account switched to my daughter 's name at the XXXX XXXX store in XXXX, Iowa. Three lines disconnected per my choice. Four lines transferred to my daughter 's new account. Spent 2.5 hours in the store to close old account, verify no late or change over or reconnect fees with XXXX XXXX Customer Service. Verified a credit would be issued to by account for end of service in the beginning of XX/XX/XXXX. Credit issued on XX/XX/XXXX bill but also reconnection fees for 7 lines, 3 of which were never reconnected, 4 of which were placed on another account. Account was paid XXXX $ XX/XX/XXXX leaving a balance of XXXX . {$99.00} was paid XX/XX/XXXX. Service was cancelled per customer choice on XX/XX/XXXX. Service period was XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. Normal monthly fee is XXXX $ for 7 lines, XXXX $ for new phone payment and insurance. Credits for health care worker brought monthly bill to XXXX. {$99.00} was paid on XXXX. The company is charging XXXX $ for 7 days of service. Absurd. If you take XXXX $ and divide it by 30 days you XXXX $ per day is XXXX plus the XXXX for the insurance and monthly phone payment you get XXXX . XX/XX/XXXX balance due which was XXXX . {$69.00} + XXXX + XXXX = XXXX - {$99.00} = {$61.00} due to XXXX XXXX. Not {$320.00}. Waited for corrected bill to arrive. Called to correct bill. XXXX XXXX sent to collections. 6 or 7 phone calls later, each at least 45 minutes long, issue still remains unresolved. Convergent stated XXXX XXXX had to fix bill. XXXX XXXX said Convergent has to fix bill.

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: I have never had this company in my name. This says it has been open since XX/XX/2017. I have had XXXX for over 2 years. There is no way that this could be my debt. Company has not sent proof that this was done by me. Only thing that I just recently received was a settlement letter. I am not paying for something that I have never had in my name. They are saying I owe {$500.00}.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I had service with XXXX XXXX internet but the service was no longer working and I made call after call and they sent out a tech several times but they either couldnt get it working or they would get it working and right after they left it went down again. This went on for a total of 3 months and they kept applying credits and eventually told me it was a problem at the pole and they were waiting on permits. They never got it fixed ao I was forced to cancel service and sign up with another company. I got a bill and contacted them and they told return the equipment and the credit would wipe out the remaining balance owed. I did at a XXXX location. They reported this to XXXX XXXX and I disputed theough credit bureau and nothing happened. I have no documentation because it was all by phone but XXXX has a booked of transcripts of the calls because every time I called the person could read everything already done from previous calls. It is not much but it is unfair I should have to pay for service they disnt provide.

Issue: False statements or representation

Subissue: Impersonated attorney, law enforcement, or government official

Consumer Complaint: These last two days I had an opportunity to go through my paper mail received via USPS. I encountered a letter on a Convergent letterhead with XXXX XXXX XXXX , XXXX listed as the creditor. This caused a bit of distress as I thought a debt was owed to the United States Government by my person. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the original creditor was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, an XXXX partner company whose operations where discovered by a Pizza delivery guy. I thought I'd mention it because I attended XXXX school which resulted in my tires being blown out on the freeway twice, being shot at, having my car wrecked through a " vehicle commandeering demo '' and various other legal issues. This debt is from XXXX and I believe attempting to collect the debt is a violation of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act as it is way past the four year statute of limitations period, we are now in XXXX and the letter was dated in XXXX of this year.
