Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I received a call from Convergent in late XX/XX/XXXX stating that i owed debt to XXXX. I explained to the representative that i did have debt with XXXX, but i settled with them and paid back in XX/XX/XXXX. So then a couple of weeks later in XX/XX/XXXX i received a letter in the mail saying that they verified the information with the original creditor and that i owed {$490.00}. I immediately gave them a call and was told by the rep that i had an account with XXXX back in XX/XX/XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX and that i owed them. I explained to her that was impossible because during those years i was under my mother 's plan and when i had XXXX was in XX/XX/XXXX, which i settled and paid my debt in XX/XX/XXXX. Not to mention i have proof on my credit report that i settled my balance with XXXX back in XX/XX/XXXX and the dates that they claim i was with XXXX was never on my credit report. The rep then spoke with supervisor and came back on the phone saying they can settle with me for {$200.00}. I told her that i wasn't paying anything because i didn't owe any money. So then i spoke to the supervisor and he basically repeated the same thing that the rep said and couldn't explain to me why that if i had debt since XX/XX/XXXX then why did i never see it on my credit report. I'm reporting Convergent because i feel that they are trying to scam people out of money that they don't even owe. Once i did my research i saw plenty of reviews like mine where people said that they didn't even owe debt. This is ridiculous and they need to be stopped.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by mail by a collection agency on XX/XX/XXXX about a debt they were attempting to collect of behalf of XXXX , XXXX . The debt was in the amount of {$700.00}. After confirming with XXXX that my account had a XXXX balance, I contacted the collection agency and informed them that it was a result of fraud as I was the victim of identity theft in the spring of XXXX and that I was still dealing with many cases of fraud by people using my personal information. The agent agreed that they would close the case and I received no further notices from them. Then I received a notice from different collection agency on XX/XX/XXXX about the same XXXX debt of {$700.00}. The XXXX account number listed on the notice was the same as the one in XXXX. I contacted the XXXX collections department and the agent there confirmed that my account has a XXXX balance. She looked up the account with the XXXX debt, but said that the personal information ( phone number and email ) did not match and would not give me any more information about it. It is obvious that someone has opened a XXXX account using my name and XXXX is continuing to attempt to collect the debt from me even though they admit I owe them nothing. The collection agency that sent me the latest notice is : Convergent Outsourcing , Inc . I am attaching a copy of the notice with their contact information.

Consumer Complaint: We have been loyal customers of XXXX for more than 10 years. On XX/XX/2019 we switched to another company. When we received the last bill by XXXX we were surprised to see that instead of issuing a prorated bill for the 6 days we used their services ( from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/2019 ) they charged us for the whole 30 day period! We called multiple times the customer service center of XXXX and they insisted on that. We requested that they present us with the contract we signed more than 10 years ago and they referred us to their website, which for old customers initiated service more than 10 years ago the contract DOES NOT state that prorate is not the case for cases like ours. As a final action, we wrote to the Customer Relations of XXXX, but instead of replying to us with specific arguments and facts they decided to send the claim to a collection company! After that we would like to let you know that we dispute this debt and we are willing to pay the fair amount for the service we had. Thus, to pay, for the 6 days of service per {$3.00} per day, the amount of {$20.00} plus taxes and fess of {$10.00}.

Consumer Complaint: To Whom It May Concern, I received a bill from Convergent Outsourcing Inc dated XX/XX/XXXX stating a balance owed of {$210.00} with a reduced balance amount of {$100.00}. The bill was sent to an old address of mine and thus I didn't receive it till this week. The account number does not match my XXXX account number which I haven't used since XX/XX/XXXX. That transaction was for {$190.00} and was paid in full. I have a {$0.00} balance on my account. I've done some research and found others that have had a similar problem with this company. This balance is not mine so this is either a mistake, a scam or some form of identity theft.

Consumer Complaint: Convergent never contacted me about any debt that was due. They filed negative reports with XXXX, XXXX and XXXX which negatively impacted my credit. I dispute the posting with XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. All three deleted the fraudulent posting. However, as soon as the three credit agencies resolved this, Convergent sent a demand letter claiming an amount owed to " XXXX ''. I have reached out to XXXX and they confirm that no amount is due and no amount has been due. The action that Convergent is taking is fraudulent and I fear will impact my credit. Kindly take the appropriate action against Convergent. This complaint is in reference to convergent account XXXX. Thank you. XXXX
