Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX Capital One closed all three of our family and personal accounts We were told that they no longer wanted us my savings, personal and joint accounts with my husband. They made it difficult for us to withdraw the funds and we had to go to the bank and communicate by phone to CapitalOne It was a tedious process and extended because we had to go to the bank office in XXXX Va Capital One encouraged digital banking transactions and so when the account was closed I no longer had access to my payment history and deposits from my retirement funds and social security were not accepted Bills that were arranged to be automatically paid through the bank were difficult to rearrange and there were some extra fees incurred This many months later its a start to restart some deposits that came from XXXX to my husband in a pension Capital One had a data leak and many charges over several months accrued on two of the accounts prior to the bank refusing to serve us as customers. Credit cards were closed and we were inconvenienced by having to dispute erroneous charges.

Consumer Complaint: I am again being charged a late fee because the credit card company stated I was an hour late paying my bill. They said I needed to pay by XXXX XXXX- I live on the XXXX XXXX XXXX I have never had to pay a bill by a certain time of day. Also, it is not clearly stated that it is XXXX XXXX ; I believe this is an attempt to collect additional money from customers ( in addition to high interest rates ). Payments are required by a certain date- in my experience, ending at midnight ( local time ) based on my location. when I called initially, I was lead to believe by the rep I spoke with that I just needed to call in the next day to ask for the fee to be waived. When I called to have the fee waived they refused to even discuss it saying the person I spoke with should NOT have said that and I had to pay by the time they stated regardless of where I lived. I believe this is an attempt to fraudulently collect fees and take advantage of customers - senior citizens in particular ; I am over XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX We've had trouble with Kohls numerous times in the past several years due to their poor customer service and their poor IT infrastructure, and now my husband are discovering we have marks on our credit reports from them but none of these were our fault to begin with. Years ago now, we had some furniture show up on our doorstep that we never ordered. It was shipped by kohls. I had a kohls charge at the time but hadn't used it in ages. I still had the card in my wallet, so its not like it was stolen, and yet someone was able to order stuff from kohls online with my card and it was shipped to me. The only reason we found out was that they shipped it to us instead of whoever stole the card number. This had to be a breach in their own system, but we were never notified by kohls of a breach. They didn't think it was odd that I had not used the card in years, then suddenly bought thousands of dollars of furniture from presumably an IP address not located anywhere near me and they let that go through. We sent the furniture back and called kohls and they supposedly closed that account and issued me a new card. Then just recently I foolishly went to buy some clothes at kohls but I had left the card in my desk at home. It wasn't lost, I just didn't bring it with me. They said they could look me up and charge my account without the card. So we tried that. They coudl n't find me even with SSN, birthday, address, etc. I assumed that meant that they closed the account for non-use, so they opened a new one for me again. When I went to pay the bill later, I had trouble logging into their site to pay the bill. I tried over and over and eventually called them. The rep was only interested in taking my payment over the phone and not actually fixing the multiple problems I was having with their site, logging in and attaching a payment account so I could pay the bill and set up autopay. He just wanted me off the phone as fast as possible with the payment. If that payment was late, it was kohls XXXX website and bad service that made it late. A few months later my husband went to kohls, opened a charge to get the discount. They never did send him his physical card, and the first bill we got was 3-4 months later and was of course by then way past due. They show that {$120.00} bill as over {$300.00} with their late fees and interest charges. We spoke to their reps three times and go nowhere with them. They didn't even seem to understand the problem. We are willing to pay what we *actually* owe, but not bogus charges because they never sent us the bill. They are also profiting from making paying the bills difficult to legitimize their extra charges. When I try to log into the kohls card account now, it says I don't have any card accounts, but my credit report says I have 2 now. I want any and all derogatory marks from them removed from my credit report. They clearly have no motivation to fix their systems or train their reps properly unless it starts costing them money. If they want me or anyone I know to ever be their customers again, they need to correct these problems, and they DEFINITELY need to remove any and all derogatory marks from my credit report! If I was ever late it was because of them.

Consumer Complaint: I was scheduled to make my first payment XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$770.00}. I opted for a new due date. I wanted to change the date from the XXXX to the XXXX of the month. In order for this to happen, I had to make a payment {$230.00} to carry me over to the XXXX of XXXX. I made a {$250.00} payment. When the XXXX of XXXX came around they were stating I was late. I called back. I explained what I did to change the date. The representative did not seem to understand. To avoid arguing, I made promise to pay the remaining {$530.00} before the XXXX of the month in order to setup the new due date. I made a payment of {$530.00} on the XXXX of XXXX. Today I received notification that my account had been drafted in the amount of {$530.00} again. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of and they are not trying to listen and properly resolve the matter. I only want to make my payments on time and pay on the XXXX of the month. I am upset right now because the took {$530.00} from that I do not recall authorizing, plus stating I was behind on my payments. I wanted my money back but I'm not sure this matter will be resolved accordingly.

I called Capitol One to report the fraudulent account, and they confirmed the account was under my name and social security number, but would not give me any further information because the phone number linked to the account had been changed and was not my own. They will not give me any further information regarding the account nor confirm if it was closed. A few days after making the complaint, I then received a notification of a bounced check from the account and received a debit card for the account in the mail.

Consumer Complaint: My credit union inadvertently overpaid my Capital One account by {$1600.00} on XX/XX/23. I contacted Capital One on XX/XX/XXXX to request a refund and was told it would be a 5 day waiting period then 10-15 business days before I would receive the refund. The overpayment was due to a balance transfer mixup at my credit union. I called Capital One on XX/XX/23 because my account still shows a credit balance of {$1600.00}. I was told the refund hadnt been processed yet. I need to put that money back into my credit union credit card account and cant use the Capital One card because any charges will be deducted from the credit refund first! Capital One is slow rolling my refund request and theres no one else to speak to.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, CAPITAL ONE BANK USA NA did a hard inquiry on me. I didn't apply for anything from this company. I have not applied for any credit cards or loans from any companies. I have contacted the company twice and both times was told that they didn't do any inquiries on me. Yet when I disputed this through XXXX I was told that Capital One Bank verified that the information is correct. I have also spoke to XXXX who wanted Capital One to remove the inquiry themselves. Since they keep saying they didn't do this, I can't get it rectified. I didn't apply for anything where a hard inquiry would need to be done on me. At this point I have contacted all of the credit bureaus and have not been able to get this fixed.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I was reconciling my Capital One checking account statement for XXXX transactions, and I noticed a transaction that didn't match my check register. I looked at the check image online and saw that the check # XXXX had been altered from {$3500.00} to {$9200.00}. I contacted Capital One and opened a case # XXXX and also contacted the police and opened a case with them as well. After two weeks, the funds were returned to my account. I requested Capital One to also reimburse me for the late fee of {$57.00} that I was accessed since the original check was never received by the intended recipient. I received an email on XX/XX/XXXX stating the following... 'We understand you are requesting to be reimbursed for a late fee you received from a third party after a check you wrote from your account was intercepted and altered. The missing funds from the altered check were credit back to your account on XX/XX/XXXX, and the investigation was completed. Since the third party fees were not charged due to a bank error, we will not be able to reimburse you. We understand this is not the answer you were looking for, but we suggest trying to resolve the issue with the third party. If you need any additional assistance, please contact us at XXXX.
