Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/21 I was given a America Express Serve " gift card '', went to use it XX/XX/21 American Express had already taken 1 of the money from the card. When people go into XXXX or any store to buy these gift cards they are not aware that the money they put on these cards is not going to be the full amount that the person is going to receive. This is so unethical, and frankly thievery! I will be telling everyone to be aware of his Fradulent activity. American Express is really taking advantage of people!

Consumer Complaint: I am have had my American Express since XXXX never missed a payment and also paid in full then Im XX/XX/XXXX. I attempted to make a payment via online American Express website. The program state they were no payment due at this time. I called customer service and they confirm that was no payment due at this time.. The cards was then closed along with my two separate American Express other cards without any notices. I filed an complaint and I was told I will be not charged any interest and late fee while the matter is being investigated. They concluded the investigation in 25 days and confirmed that I there was an error on their part but they will not be able to reopen my card and I would have to pay the late fees and interest on the card and closed account. Second, Amerixan Express refused you refund my annual fees or reopen cards. They have cost my thousands and I this is gross abuse of power. I have been a great customer. And my card was closed through no fault of my own

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I previous complaint I submitted was resolved with satisfaction. I received a refund and enrolled in covid assistance. After I received the refund the balance was added back to my account as agreed, however my credit limit was reduced. The limit reduction with the balance added back significantly impacted my credit score. This is not align with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The company decided to refund the payment to assist with my hardship. My credit limit was {$15000.00} and reduced to {$4500.00} on the statement dated XX/XX/XXXX. Ive contacted the company for an explanation of the reduction as I have never had a missed or late payment. Ive contacted the company to increase my credit limit. As of XX/XX/XXXX I have a balance of {$18000.00} with a credit limit of {$4500.00}. I am enrolled in the Special Program that require auto draft of {$390.00} every 14th of the month and freezes card use while enrolled. My credit limit needs to be increased back to the initial limit while Im in the program and unable to use the card. The current credit limit is not an accrual reflection of my account and is unfairly impacting my credit score.

Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: During the last week in XX/XX/2019 -- just a day after making a deposit on my Bluebird Amex Prepaid money card I noticed that funds were missing within the account. I began to panic -- immediately calling customer service, looking over transactions, etc. A skimmed event perhaps, they pulled out approximately : {$120.00} dollars from an ATM at XXXX XXXX station in XXXX XXXX XXXX MN. The customer service team at their offshore center was not very obliged nor friendly when mentioning my card being breached, and funds were missing. They wanted to connect with my money account with Aspirations bank, to verify that the account was mine. Failed a connection. Several calls were made throughout the year, an FTC report was made and included in an identity theft report with the XXXX Police department.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: I received an email offer from American Express to receive XXXX Membership Rewards points if I opened a savings account and deposited {$25000.00} by XX/XX/2020 and held those funds in your account through XX/XX/2020. The advertisement encouraged me to be looking ahead to the future and the timing was great because I was going to be buying my first home soon and needed to keep the down payment money in cash somewhere until then. The terms and conditions stated that the XXXX Membership Rewards points would be deposited within 8 to 12 weeks after the conditions of the offer were met. After twelve weeks, I called American Express National Bank who told me that some of the Membership Rewards points had not posted for folks due to a computer error and to give them a few more weeks. When I called back on XX/XX/XXXX, a representative from American Express National Bank stated that it appeared that I had met all of the terms and conditions and that she did not know why I hadn't received my points, but that American Express Bank was not the group that actually posted Membership Rewards points to accounts. She stated she would " open a case. '' Now, nearly a month later, it seems clear that American Express National Bank has insufficient policies and procedures to actually pay out this bonus. Since American Express failed to pay out the bonus in the timeframe provided, this appears to me to be a violation of 12 CFR 1030.8 and and deceptive act or practice under the Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Act or Practices ( UDAAP ) framework.
