Consumer Complaint: Amex has decrease my credit card limit from XXXX to XXXX without an adverse notice regarding the promotion. There are two main federal laws governing adverse actions in the world of credit : the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act ( ECOA ). To put it simply, the FCRA covers consumer transactions. It requires lenders to give you a notice if negative credit information was the basis of the adverse action. The XXXX covers both consumers and businesses. It requires lenders to describe the specific reasons why the adverse action was taken. Heres how it breaks down : The FCRA requires lenders to say that negative information was the cause of any adverse action. The XXXX requires lenders to provide specific reasons why adverse action was taken against you in that notice. The FCRA covers applications for credit, like credit cards, along with other types of applications like employment and government license. The XXXX covers applications for credit as well, along with requests for credit limit increases on existing accounts.

Consumer Complaint: American Express continues to call for collection purposes despite the account not being past due. American express further advises that no COVID relief is available unless a payment arrangement were agreed to. American Express further claims that no late fees would be applicable under such a payment plan but admits that the plan would be voided were a payment considered late.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I was a with AMEX customer since XXXX and during that time, I have enjoyed my experience greatly. I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a " goodwill '' adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies. I have late payments on my accounts AMEX Date opened XX/XX/XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and AMEX Date opened XX/XX/XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ). Since that time I was an exceptional customer paying every month on time. Because of my exceptional payment history over the last years, I would like you to consider removing the negative payments from my credit report. At the time of the late payments, I was in the process of changing jobs. I say that not to justify why the payments were late, but rather to show that the late payments are not a good indicator of my actual credit worthiness.

Consumer Complaint: I have been an American Express Serve cardholder for five years without any problems. On XX/XX/2020 {$710.00} was stolen from my account in what Im assuming was a skimming crime. I have never given my pin or card to anyone, never lost my card, and was not negligent in any way. I received text notifications that money was being removed and by the time I could get my card shut off, {$710.00} total was stolen from two XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ATMs in XXXX stores across town from me ( I live and was in XXXX CO and the money was stolen in XXXX CO ) I reported to police and have filed multiple disputes with American Express who refuse to give me my money back. Apparently the ATMS had no cameras and I feel this is not my fault- these big banks are not protecting my money without cameras or without honoring my insured funds or fraud protection. I feel extremely victimized and this is not right. Please help.

Consumer Complaint: American Express offered a promotion for {$30.00} off of a {$30.00} or more purchase on XXXX purchase. The offer isn't valid for promotional offers or urls with the word promo ihe the address. My internet history shows I went to XXXX. I purchase {$55.00} worth of wine without a discount applied. I did not receive the American Express offer because they said in addition to the steps I followed the merchant needs to send a specific merchant name across to trigger the promotion. Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX, with an address of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Colorado began contacting me on XX/XX/2021 regarding debt that a company I am part of owes, and has been making payments on for 9 months. On XX/XX/XXXX, during the first phone call they made to us they were informed that we already had an payment arrangement with American Express, and had paid off more than {$45000.00} of an original {$60000.00} balance in a span of 9 months. The gentleman representing himself as a lawyer, stated multiple times that he was a lawyer, that we were lying, and our only option was to work with him. He was instructed not to call us again, then we disconnected the line. Between XX/XX/XXXX, and Today XX/XX/2021, XXXX XXXX XXXX has called us 17 times that we are aware of. Today, we answered the call, essentially had the same dictation that was had during his first phone call. Again, We instructed him not to call us anymore, and that we were paying American Express Directly. We also informed him that we would be reporting his harassment. We possess a signed agreement from American Express clearly stating our payment arrangement, and have been making payments toward the debt owed long before anyone from this office contacted me.
