Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Problem with personal statement of dispute
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2018 I paid my auto loan of {$620.00} through Ally Financial 's bill payment app. The app crashed upon my submission of the payment. I did not resubmit because of the chance of a double charge and I believed the payment went through. The payment did not get posted and I was given a 30 day late on my credit report. Once I realized the money never left my account and the payment was not received I called to fix the error. Ally said they would put a dispute in and let me know the result. They contacted me and said their app didn't receive my payment and they couldn't remove the late payment. I spoke with managers and they said they would try to help me. I was sent to several people and none helped me resolve the matter. I pay my bill consistently. Still no one would see my side. I kept being told that the tech team said there was no issue with the app. How would I know if that is true or not? On top of that, the late payment is being inaccurately reported on my credit report. XXXX has it for XXXX, while XXXX and XXXX has it reporting late for XXXX. Attached is the payment history from my credit report showing the inaccuracies.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2020- My vehicle loan was paid the remaining XXXX XXXX balance. I was informed it could take 7-10 business days to reflect as paid and closed on my credit report. I understood. XX/XX/2020-My phone app reflected the payment on my account, however, still was not showing as paid on my credit. Spoke with Ally on their webchat and was advised it would day 3-5 business days as they were slightly behind due to COVID-19. I understood. XX/XX/2020-Still no change to my credit report, contacted Ally via phone and was advised they would send an email to expedite my account being reported. I understood. XX/XX/2020-Still no change to my credit report. contacted Ally and stressed the importance of getting this rectified as I am trying to get a house and this account is causing some issues. I was advised it would take another 3-5 business days for them to expedite it ( again ) and she would send me a letter by mail stating it was paid in full so I could show the housing company as we waited for it to go through to credit. XX/XX/2020-Still no change to my credit report, never received the letter of paid in full status. XX/XX/2020-Housing company could not hold off on my application any longer and ran my credit. XX/XX/2020-Filed an online dispute with XXXX in hopes that it would prompt Ally to update my account with accurate information. ( Dispute still pending as ofXX/XX/20 ) XX/XX/2020-Housing company denied my application because my debt to income ration was not accurate because Ally account is still showing as open and outstanding. XX/XX/2020-I checked my mailbox again for the letter, it was not there. Contacted Ally and asked for a supervisor. I was advised there was nothing they could do and was given another 7-10 business day response. It has been almost 3 months since this has been paid and now this is severely impacting my life by them not accurately reporting my account. I was told by the supervisor that they have not reported many accounts so I may not be the only person being impacted by this. I am currently XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX and I NEED this house before they arrive. My apartment is not large enough and I can not do anything because Ally is stonewalling me with timelines that, in my opinion, are wrong. It has been well over the 7-10 business day timeline they gave me since the beginning. Now I will have to have another hard inquiry on my credit when I have to reapply for a house all over again once Ally does the right thing. When I attempt to log into my account to obtain the proof of payment, I get an error message. " You can't view the details for your closed vehicles accounts anymore. '' So they've marked it off in their system but refuse to report it to the credit bureaus.

Consumer Complaint: I opened an account with Ally bank online. I sent {$400.00} to fund the account and they cashed the check and locked the account. I called the number they said to call and they switched my to the fraud department. I have tried to call for 3 days and have been on hold for 3 days. I have left 2 messages with no reply. I tried an online chat and they would not help me because my account was locked. You can not get a hold of anyone to fix the problem that there might be.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my car was totaled and Ally Financial received the full payoff for the loan on XX/XX/XXXX. I was informed by XXXX XXXX and Ally to contact XXXX ( seller ) XXXX for the refund on my Auto warranty which is {$2400.00}. XXXX sent me a check then informed me that Ally went into their account in XXXX and took the {$2400.00} even though they were paid in full. XXXX canceled the check and told me I'd have to contact Ally, I contacted them on several occasions stating on XX/XX/XXXX and asked why the money had be taken when the car was paid off in full? They informed me they would escalate the refund, I called them every other day trying to contact someone to get an update on the refund and NO ONE knew where it was they supposedly escalated it every time. I tried making a complaint today and they said the department wont take complaints on the phone. I emailed Ally demanding my refund that is well over due and they are sitting on that money. I need to replace the car that was totaled after three weeks because it was Tboned. I realize there's a pandemic however business needs to flow and I need my refund asap. No supervisors are taking calls and since they haven't sent the money back after two months I know they aren't in a hurry to give me my money back. Please help me get my money back and also make it easier for some one like me to get transparent answers as to why I haven't received my money and where they are at in the process to refund it. There is no system in place to get any solid answers other than it's going to be escalated. If there aren't already laws there should be laws requiring them to pay within 30 days the automobile was paid off. Instead they hold the money for 60 days or over and I need it to buy another car so I can start my process in going back to work. Our county has opened up and I'm losing money sitting here. I appreciate your help!

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020, I took out an auto loan with Ally Bank XXXX, XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX, XXXX, MN XXXX. Ally did a credit check which lowered my credit score. However, I have made 3 payments, all on time, yet as of today, Ally has not reported my on time payments to any of the three major credit bureaus. I truly believe, if I had failed not to make my payments on time, Ally would have promptly reported this negative information to the credit bureaus. For example, my XXXX payment is not due until XXXX, 2020, yet I made my payment on XX/XX/2020. In an effort to resolve this matter, I called Ally on XX/XX/XXXX, and emailed my complaint to them on XX/XX/2020. They have failed to respond. I called them back today and I received no answer as to why my account has not been reported. I am in the process of trying to qualify for a much needed mortgage for my family during these very trying times. Therefore, I am requesting CFPB help in forcing Ally Bank to do the right thing and immediately report my account to the three major credit bureaus. Their accurate reporting would help raise my credit score which could provide me a lower mortgage rate, which in turn will provide some much needed financial relief to my family.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: IN 2019 I had problems with making payments in that I was making payments but due to a financial change I had to split my payments into 2 payments ( Total mortgage {$2900.00} split to two payments of {$1400.00} ). XXXX would return the payments. They have refused to accept partial payments like a normal mortgage company. This caused payments to be late as I was forced to wait on the returned check. Now mind you I would pay them electronically but the returned funds would be sent by physical check. As you can guess this caused payments to get missed or late when in fact they really were not late but I had to wait for returned funds. When I started noticing the issue I contact them and they told me that they do not accept split payments at ALL. I noted that other mortgage companies do and even provided examples. This went around and around. I then completed the loan modification payment in hopes that they would work with me to resolve the issue. AS of today they have been less then helpful and have now lost 3 months of payments. I have the check information but it they have not be applied to my account nor have they been returned. I get no details on where those payments went or anything.

Consumer Complaint: Every time I apply for ANY credit, I am sent letters denying me however these same letters states that either a credit report was not pulled or I have a 700 plus score but yet they still deny me for ANY loan or credit application. I wrote the 3 credit bureau on XX/XX/2020 updating my legal name because I was denied credit due to " inactive file '' status. My name has a suffix behind it so I sent them my ID and other documents to provide proof of my identity and requested my credit profile show up active. I never received any correspondence from them or any notification. Further more my identity was stolen by the SBA and I received a Notice of Data Breach. I am unsure why i am having these issues but know that I should of been offered the credit in which I had requested. I am still receiving notices that states these concerns. Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Consumer Complaint: There were 2 recalls on the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX vehicle, and we wanted to surrender without penalty. For 2 years, Ally has dragged this out placing us on multiple ludicrous call back responses and communications with Supervisors which never happened and being hung up on several times while trying to resolve this matter. Disruption in service predicated by an identity theft incident in which we were locked out of the system. We called clarifying a change of address and a need for an entry key. This was not resolved until about 3 months later. The agreement was we needed to prove we were locked out of the system and that all penalties and late fees would be waived completely, and this never occurred either.

Consumer Complaint: I look at my credit weekly due to fraud with someone having same name and DOB as me in same city, now I am seeing a lot of inquires on my credit on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX from several companies I have had no contact with nor have any idea who they are and what they be using my ssn number for as I am not needing anything regarding my ssn number. The companies that have illegally used my ssn information is 1. XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2020, XXXX XXXX Dealer XX/XX/2020, XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2020, XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2020, Ally Financial XX/XX/2020, XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2020, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2020, XXXX XX/XX/2020 and XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2020. I would like these illegal inquries removed immediately as well as documentation showing my id and signature allowing use of my ssn. Furthermore I was working on each one of these days 12 hours and we are not allowed phones on my job which is a little more alarming as to how my credit was ran without my consent or me in person.
