Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I hired XXXX XXXX to act on my behalf to submit an application of Forbearance with FedLoan Servicing. I was told that there was a mix-up with my social security number and that Fedloan Serving was responsible for the mistake. I was instructed that the mistake would be corrected and NOT to make any payments. Any negative activity would be deleted once the social security number was corrected. I have tried several times to have this 90 day late remark removed from my credit reports, but Fedloan Servicing refuses to do so. I have been denied credit because of this mistake which was no fault of my own.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I requested a 3 month forbearance in XX/XX/XXXX ). At this time, my loan payment was {$190.00} each month. The forbearance was approved and I was provided with a letter " to advise you of the conditions under which a forbearance may be granted. '' The letter states that I may have to pay interest that accrues. As such, I paid the interest payment on XX/XX/XXXX of {$29.00}. When the forbearance ended my " repayment term '' had been changed, without my knowledge or consent, therefore increasing my new monthly payment to {$300.00}. I called AES ( XX/XX/XXXX ) to inquire and first I was told the payments increased due to capitalized interest. When I explained that I did pay the interest, the representative then told me that my loan requires a payoff by a certain date so now my payments will be more since I took a break ( forbearance ) for 3 months. I protested and insisted that at NO time was I aware nor did I agree to those terms. She told me that I would need to see the master promissory note ( MPN ) that I signed in XX/XX/XXXX. I requested a copy of the note and she told me that she submitted a request to have a copy sent to my home-it was not readily accessible for me to view. In the meantime, she told me there is absolutely nothing that can be done and my credit will be negatively affected if I do not pay the full monthly amount. First, the MPN is not easily accessible as demonstrated by her response! Second, I should have been directed to these terms in XX/XX/XXXX when I requested the forbearance so that I could review any hidden terms-such as this. I have the " terms '' of my forbearance, sent by AES, dated XX/XX/XXXX. This document does not refer me to a MPN nor does it state may repayment term may/will be changed. It only addresses the possibility of accrued interest. I believe that I have been grossly misled. I can not afford this increased payment, and fully expected to resume my usual {$190.00} payments. No one explained verbally, or sent terms explaining my repayment term would change with a forbearance

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Regarding the complaint ID # XXXX filed yesterday XX/XX/XXXX and received the company 's response with attached documents on same day. The borrower reviewed the documents and wonder how they have those information because the name on document XXXX XXXX ' passed away in XX/XX/XXXX however this person 's name was filled on the application with the Federal Student Aid since XXXX when this person existed. I am wondering the documents were done by the PHEAA without the borrower 's consent. I have attached document of XXXX XXXX 's death

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I received approval on my IBR Application in XX/XX/2019 for a monthly payment of {$90.00}. I changed my payment due date from the XXXX of the month to the XXXX of the month in XX/XX/2019. Fed Loan doubled my monthly student loan payment to {$170.00} for just changing the due date so I can make my payments more manageable for myself. How does changing a due date double a student loan payment after you have a letter in writing stating stating what your IBR payment will be for the next year? This loan servicer is a huge SCAM. They told me by changing my due date they had to readjust my payment because the poverty line had changed. That doesnt even make sense if I was already approved in an IBR plan for the year so not sure what the changing of the poverty line has to do with my student loan payment that had already been set. Customer Service is unprofessional as well.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: My student loans were discharged under the PSLF, but FedLoan reports ( and I concur ) that I paid 123 out of 120 payments resulting in a 3 additional payments over the required 120 payments ( see attached ). On XX/XX/XXXX, FedLoan Servicing reported that it would take 30-60 days ( see attached ) for the Department of Treasury to refund these over-payments. As of XX/XX/XXXX, it has been over 90 days and I have not received a response to my request for this refund which is approximately {$1700.00}. I would like CFPB to look into this matter to identify the problem and what needs to be resolved to refund these surplus payments to my account.

Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms

Consumer Complaint: In the past, I filed complaint against ( Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency ) about the consolidated loan term that I never agree with and the borrower has never signed the loan documents and I am wondering how they did without the borrower 's consent. Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I have tried to reach FedLoan about the transfer of my loan from XXXX XXXX and the implementation of my Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program for three weeks. I have sent three emails ( XX/XX/2020, and two on XX/XX/2020 ) and made three phone calls on XX/XX/2020, two of which were automatically disconnected after long waits on hold. On the third call I left a callback number and was never called back ( after a more than 24 hour wait ). There does not appear to be a way to contact FedLoan at this point, by phone or email. I am VERY concerned about this, as I do not know the status of my account, and it appears to be incomplete according to my online account information. They are also about to debit my first payment ( of many ) and I have no way of reaching them.

Consumer Complaint: My repayment terms are wrong. Based on my loan amount, my loans should qualify for 30-year repayment. I've called and e-mailed several times and can't reach them. *I called on XX/XX/XXXX on my lunch break and was on the phone for an hour. The rep couldn't help me and said her computer was down. She transferred me and I was eventually hung up on. Full records and call logs available. *I then called back at XXXX XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and was on hold for 31 minutes and could never get through. Full records and call logs available. *I sent an e-mail message that same day at XXXX XXXX to try to get this issue corrected. It was never addressed or corrected and I received no response. Full records and call logs available. *I sent ANOTHER e-mail message on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX to try to get this issue corrected. It was never addressed or corrected and I received no response. Full records and call logs available. *I sent ANOTHER e-mail message on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX to try to get this issue corrected. It was never addressed or corrected and I received no response. Full records and call logs available. *I sent ANOTHER e-mail message on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX to try to get this issue corrected. It was never addressed or corrected and I received no response. Full records and call logs available. Could someone please address my question so I can make the CORRECT payments. The current payments are too high. My repayment terms should be 30 years. You are just sitting on your hands doing nothing and all you want to do is try to ruin my credit score instead of facilitate a successful repayment. Full records and call logs available.
