Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I have guaranteed 2 loans for my son XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX when he was attending XXXX. He stopped attending due to family issues. I was incarcerated. We became estranged. During my incarceration I applied and received forbearance up to XX/XX/XXXX with FedLoan. I was released in XX/XX/XXXX to a Halfway House in which I stayed for 9 months up to XXXX of XXXX. From XXXX until XXXX Fed Loan was sending mail asking for payment to my home address. I did not receive any of that mail or any other mail that was being mailed to my home address because my son XXXX was living there and he would not give me my mail or any of my paperwork or belongings. In XXXX of XXXX I first checked my credit score and found that it was in the 300 range. I could not understand why it was so low. I then found the many late payments on the 2 FedLoans. I contacted FedLoan and made a payment agreement. After making the payments for 3 months I asked them to remove the late payments. They refused. I worked with XXXX XXXX credit repair to help me with the ; ate payment issue. They were unable to do so. I have been paying the loan, applied for secured credit cards in order to increase my credit score. But that is very hard with having 2 180 days late payments for school loans. I respectfully ask for your help to remove the 2 180 day late payments please. I need your help to raise my credit score and rebuild my life. Thank you,

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I submitted my Employment Certification Form on XX/XX/2020 and have emailed the company repeatedly for a a status regarding a count on my payments. While I understand what is going on in the world right now with worker shortages, getting a status from this company has always been an issue regardless of COVID-19. This morning I received an email from " XXXX '' telling me that they received my form on XX/XX/2020 with no other information while not answering my question. This company has always had poor customer service. I am tired of having to email constantly for updates as well as the long turn-around times. I shouldn't have to file complaints with the CFPB for basic customer service. The turnaround time is 14 days pursuant to Fedloan Servicing 's agreement with the Federal Government. I am not sure why it is so hard to get any answer out of these folks.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: My loans were put in forbearance status 3X by Fed Loan Servicing while they processed paperwork. I was called by Fed Loan Servicing staff and was told that if I made the 3 payments they would be counted towards the 120 needed for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. A recent tally letter was sent and it doesnt look as if these 3 payments were counted ... so where was the money applied? if they arent going to count them then I would like the money back. Also, I consolidated all my student loans on the same day into Subsidized and Unsubsidized loan packages. I have been making payments on them at the same time, but one shows as having 110 qualifying payments and one show as having 109. Both should have 110.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 the Federal government passed the CARES Act which states that all Federal Student Loans were to have interest rate set to 0 % for at least sixty ( 60 ) days. American Education Services ( AES ) has failed to change the interest rate on all of my Federal Student loans from the 6.8 % prior to the Act down to 0 %. Attempts to contact the company via phone, their website, or their social media pages have been futile as the company doesn't respond back on this issue. They only state that they are " waiting for guidance from the federal government '' about the rates with no other feedback -- and that was four ( 4 ) weeks ago. They will respond about ALL other issues but this one. My Federal Student Loans have still been accumulating interest at 6.8 % with AES since the CARES Act was passed while my wife 's student loans, held by FedLoan, have been showing as 0 % since that same time period. All of my student loans are Federal Stafford Loans and not commercial loans. I have also never consolidated my loans since taking them out during school.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: XXXX or the FedLoan Consolidation Department, sent me a letter stating I must urgently change my loan provider ( during a national pandemic ). They used words like due to Covid the current administration might get rid of student loan programs You must enroll now to be forgiven under the department of Education. This is false because they are charging an {$800.00} fee to be paid in 3 payments in order to join their program plus a {$39.00} a month fee for 240 months. This is a scam and should not be placed or forced on civil servants. The guy XXXX XXXX also told me I can contact him directly and the number is no longer in service.

Consumer Complaint: I am disputing the XXXX, XXXX and XX/XX/2019 derogatory credit reporting. I was under forbearance at that time and should not have been reported delinquent. The representative I spoke with afterward was supposed to correct the credit the reporting, and that never happened. She did setup a new payment due date and monthly payment amount, but never fixed the credit reporting.

Consumer Complaint: I have now submitted and been subsequently denied teacher loan forgiveness about 6 times now for reasons that continue to baffle me. They will list things are not there that clearly are, or that something isn't correct, that plainly is. I will call, they will tell me that it looks correct, and they will resubmit. Then I get another denial, for the same reason or another one. I will make any changes they wish, then get another denial for a previous reason. This latest denial I received on XX/XX/20 listed most all information in section 5 was missing. I doubled checked what I sent in, and section 5 is completely filled out. I don't even think they are looking! These loan forgiveness applications have a 99 % failure rate ... .99 %!!! They are not doing their jobs and cheating people out of programs they clearly qualify for and were counting on! Please help.
