Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: For years I have been trying to fix the inaccuracies from FedLoan. I have tried disputing, writing the ceo and complaints. I have never been late. However, there are 5 loans that were closed due to consolidation that have one late payment each. This is hurting my score tremendously! Unfortunately, I was recently denied from XXXX XXXX XXXX due to the 5 late payments. I am in need of these items to be corrected. The late payments that are showing the accounts were in deferment.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I signed on to the PSLF program and started paying in XX/XX/2009. I have completed all 120 payments, worked for the correct organizations, and was in the right repayment program. I have met all criteria. Yet when I applied I was told I have only made 35 payments of the 120 required. I was told the previous loan managers, XXXX etc did not provide documentation to Fed loan. Yet when I try to recoup the data by requesting documents and asked for an audit I was told no that I can not get my forms and correspondence etc. I was told an audit would take years. I talked with a person unaffiliated with fed loan that had access to my financial aid files and he could see all the documents and stated I mer all the criteria. I have no recourse and this places me in situation where I will have to pay an addition 7 more years or loans despite fulfilling my side of the contract.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Problem with personal statement of dispute

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a credit alert to my e-mail address informing me that my credit score had drastically dropped. I was confused, being that I pay all of my bills on time and in full every month, without fail my entire life. I had a near perfect credit score that was cut in half over night. I immediately pulled my credit report to investigate, and found I had four delinquent accounts for a company I didn't recognize. I took my loans out with AES and had been paying for them in full and on time each month, figuring that all my loans absorbed into that one account. I called the company that gave me the delinquent accounts, found out it was FedLoan, and found out I had an account with them, XX/XX/XXXX. Not once did I receive any communication ( e-mail, mail, phone call ) from FedLoan to alert me about any upcoming balance or specifically any issues on my account. When I called FedLoan, I found out they had an incorrect email for me, which I had them update. The address and phone number was correct, which they failed to utilize by never even letting me know this account was ready to start making payments, much less that I was delinquent unknowingly. I was distraught that my credit score was destroyed beyond repair and I didn't even do anything wrong to cause it! The company failed to contact me. During my initial call with Employee # XXXX, she told me I could get those credit marks removed and that it would take 5-7 days. She told me to go to myfedloan.org and create an account with an account number she provided to begin making payments. That is clear as day, another red flag that I didn't even have an online account so how was I supposed to know the payments started? I continued a several month long fight with countless employees via phone where each time the employees would tell me they can't fix credit scores even though they were in the wrong. I found it weird that the first person I spoke to seemed to think I could. On XX/XX/XXXX they sent me a " Name change correction '' form as " resolution '' to my complaints, which was utterly useless being that my name hasn't changed since birth, further showing their incompetence. I never mentioned a name change before, only that they never contacted me once which would be an address or contact info problem not a name change problem. I submitted several disputes to all three credit bureaus which each time FedLoan claimed were false, leaving my credit score severely impacted to this day. I have been fighting to correct my credit score for an entire year, it is now XX/XX/XXXX and there has been no resolution on FedLoan 's behalf. They NEVER contacted me once regarding this account, but deemed it necessary to place FOUR delinquent notices on my account. This is cruel, dishonest, and criminal. My other loan provider had no problem notifying me when my payments began, I actually received both an e-mail and a letter in the mail ( what a concept! ) ; FedLoan should be required to do the same. I'm not a mind reader, how was I supposed to know this account existed, much less, it wasn't being paid? I can't even refinance my loans with a more trustworthy, and honest company because my credit score is so damaged from their lack of communication, which further punishes me for their mistakes. I can't get a mortgage on a house, new credit cards, anything because of what they did to me. I have exhausted all of my opportunities to try to amend this issue, and I am hoping this complaint will go somewhere. It's a shame that they are able to get away with things like this. I am an honest, hard working, and good person who pays all of my bills on time every month. Point blank : IF I KNEW ABOUT THIS ACCOUNT AND THE BALANCE, I WOULD HAVE PAID IT IMMEDIATELY. FedLoan needs to be held accountable for their mistakes and not even trying to contact borrowers when they have upcoming payments and warn them first before placing notices on their credit. These are LASTING impacts that will haunt me for countless years before they are removed from my report, impacts that could have been avoided by a simple phone call or email from FedLoan.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: Submitted my annual Employment Certification Form to FedLoan, which services my federal student loans that are currently in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. I have done this each year with no problems ( currently on track to have loans forgiven in XX/XX/2023 ) -- after taking 2 weeks to process the very simple form ( 2 pages ) they wrote back saying that either myself or my employer failed to include the Federal Employer Identification Number ( FEIN ) so I went on the FedLoan website to reupload the form but noticed I could see what I had uploaded to them on my " upload history '' under my account on their website. I looked at the form I submitted and it was clear that the FEIN was included on the submission. I contacted customer service and they advised me to wait up to 10 business days while the account is under review. I would just normally wait, but to me this is such an easily fixable error and their response of saying " just wait 10 more business days '' to correct it, is unacceptable and, frankly, given how it is hard to comprehend how they made the error in the first place ( this is not a long or convoluted form we're talking about ) I don't trust them to get it right the second time.

Consumer Complaint: I have had this loan since the early XXXX ( see attached documents ) for about 40 years. I and only have 90 credits. Presently, I am a XXXX year old and as a senior, is going through much hardship. I loss my job because of the Covid19 virus, after contacting the virus. It has been 10 weeks since I applied for unemployment in XXXX. I am still waiting to receive my unemployment compensation. Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: On/about XX/XX/2020 I refinanced {$100000.00} in private student loans with XXXX XXXX, previously held/services by American Education Services ( Account # XXXX ), resulting in a negative balance of ( {$2200.00} ). On/about XX/XX/2020 American Education Services ( AES ) issued a credit/refund in the amount of {$2200.00} to XXXX XXXX, who is not the account holder, nor associated with the account in any aspect. I contacted AES via website inquiry about the refund of the negative balance as was informed that checks were sent to XXXX XXXX. I then contacted AES via the website chat feature and was informed that AES policy is to issue the excess payment back to the payer. That language is not written in any of the loan documents for those loans serviced by AES. AES states that XXXX XXXX will credit the balance of my new refinance loan, but that language is not written in the loan document between me and XXXX XXXX. In addition, AES confirmed that the total amount refunded is {$2200.00} ; which is ( {$6.00} ) less than the actual negative balance then on the account of {$2200.00}. I am lodging this complaint to ensure this money is accounted for, and moreover, that AES has fraudlently refunded money ( and witheld some portion of the refund for their own gain ) from an account to someone other than the account holder.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I made a request with Fed Loans in XX/XX/2019 to recount my eligible payments for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, as the count looked inaccurate to me. It has now been 11 months, and I still have not received the updated count. I have called a total of 3 times in the 11 months, most recently one month ago, and was told that sometimes it " just takes this long. '' I explained the situation, and that my loans have only ever been with one other servicer, and also tried to escalate the conversations to a supervisor, but no one has been able to move this along for me. My loans are pretty straightforward ( only medical school debt, no private loans, all consolidated federal loans ) so I am unsure why it has taken almost 365 days to clarify my qualifying payment count.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to formally contest the unfair determination, denying my multiple applications for the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program program. I have worked in public service continuously for my entire career and have been paying on my student loans since XXXX. I was denied this last time due to an issue that could be rectified immediately with a public EIN search. There are extensive notes and annotations on my account explaining the situation that I have been put through by this incredibly poorly managed federal program. When I submitted the initial application in XXXX, my application was denied and I was also denied the Temporary Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program because my payments were not considered qualifying. I was put in an appropriate payment plan, which I was told that if I paid for an entire year, I would be eligible again once that year was up. I submitted my forms again at the conclusion of the qualifying payment term and my current application, which is perfectly acceptable, has now been denied repeatedly for completely unfounded reasons. The most recent denial has happened after spending hours on the phone with representatives and following all explicit instructions on how to fix the issue. I was told that I needed to submit an explanation why the EIN from my employer is different on the form submitted in XXXX, which I did in writing via the website. I qualify for this program and yet have been repeatedly denied.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I have 12 closed Fed Loan student loans that originate as far back as XXXX. Starting in XXXX, I have attempted to have Fed Loan correct missing data on ALL loans and they have refused to do so. Each letter or email reply has indicated that they found no errors and that the " customer disputes the findings ''. In reviewing all three Bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX, I observed that all 12 accounts still have errors. The combined number of months of non-reported data, in between reported months of activity, exceeds 250 plus months. This directly affects, negatively, my credit report as the percentage of account months paid on time are inaccurate. These loans are all paid off by way of consolidation. In addition to lacking accurate and complete monthly reporting data, which is mandated by the FCRA, the account numbers are incomplete, the status is inaccurate and the age of some accounts exceed the reporting period. The FCRA allows for a penalty of up to {$1000.00} per incident for failing to properly and accurately report on a credit report. I have been unable to obtain financing, lower insurance costs and a litany of other penalties as a result of Fed Loans illegal and incompetent actions. I filed a complaint with the XXXX, but was advised that due to the type of creditor Fed Loans is, I was to file my complaint here.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't temporarily delay making payments

Consumer Complaint: Between XXXX and XXXX of XXXX, i attempted to have my payments re-structured, to help lower the payment. I had come into some bad health issues at the end of XXXX, as well as moving home XXXX miles from XXXX due to these health issues. I did not want to put it into forbearance if i could've avoided it, but my income had become drastically smaller and throughout this whole process, i was missing payments. I am back in good health now and have started an XXXX program and now me and Fed Loan servicing seem to be on good terms. I am trying to start my life over and these missed payments from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX are keeping from being able to do that. I only want a chance to live a normal life and i do not think that punishing someone for XXXX XXXX years because they were sick and unable to make payments for a few months is fair. If you will look on my credit report, there is evidence of payments to them up until XX/XX/XXXX, though in my attachment, the payment history downloaded directly from my Fed Loan account reflects no payments made on the loan. I can find bank statements if need be, but it proves Fed Loan not only is incorrectly reporting missed payments, they don't even update their own statements to reflect true payments. Those 7 months should have reflected a deferment but instead have damaged my XXXX XXXX tremendously as " missed payments. ''
