Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Don't agree with the fees charged
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2014 American Education Services sold my student loan to XXXX. The problem is that I was having difficulty making the payments due to numerous medical issues that had occurred in our family, but I tried numerous times to work with them. They had horrible customer service, and when I finally resorted to going to speak to an attorney about the issue, they quickly added {$10000.00} to the loan and sold it off. My original loan amount was around {$14000.00} and now today it sits at over {$25000.00} due to this. I have tried many ways to look into this matter and how it is ethical to tack on a hefty profit prior to selling off, but not until today did I find this website to report them to. How is this legal for them to do that? They had threatened to garnish my wages which is what led me to an attorney, and unfortunately I chose a poor one who misguided me on how I could get resolution. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer, since the government should also have an issue with a company representing the government doing this to people. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: FedLoan is the current servicer for my federal student loans. I have been enrolled in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program since XXXX. Each year I had to call and re-certify for the program and each year I was assured that I was enrolled in the PSLF program and was on track to have my loans forgiven. I have worked in local and state government since XXXX. I have been in active repayment most of this time. The only time I was not in active payment was temporarily in XXXX and again in XXXX when I was in forbearance due to maternity leave. Once I returned to work, my forbearance ended and I resumed payment. I became a single parent with XXXX young children in XXXX and was placed in an income based re-payment plan with Fed-Loan. I was told by their representative each year when I recertified that I was indeed in the correct program and on track for loan forgiveness. Beginning in XXXX I started applying for PSLF and was denied loan forgiveness. I have applied many times over the past 4 years! I am told that I have only 14 total payments that qualify under the PSLF program. This is completely contrary to what I have been told by FedLoan for the past XX/XX/XXXX years! I have asked for a printout of all my recorded payments since XXXX and I have been denied that information by FedLoan.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I contacted the the servicer in XX/XX/2021 about them incorrectly reporting that some of my loans were reporting as late in the past. They had recently fixed some of their other errors on my reports but did not fix them all. They refuse to fix their errors and have not been responsive in the past to keeping me informed of the status of my loans. They now will be dropping my loans at the end of this year and I fear that their errors will never be able to be fixed which will adversely effect my financial life. Please contact them to get these erroneous late payments removed from my credit report.
